If you're ever looking for another wee trip, we can recommend a visit to the East Neuk of Fife which is part of the Fife Coastal Path which is just on our door step. Definition of a Bothy. An open shelter, never locked, open to all as a refuge in remote areas. Of course everyone can contribute to the maintenance of those shelters, by visiting the MBA website.
Those rocks & uphill climbs looked intimidating. Glad you both stayed strong and powered through the day. Yay for the bothy & hopefully a good night's rest. Thanks for sharing your real experiences with us! Happy trails! 👣
Poor Ben. There is a theory that wind can produce infrasound which when combined with isolation or exhaustion can produce episodes of mental instability. I've had a few freaky moments in the mountains.
I can't help thinking that once over the bealach above Loch Coire Fionnaraich, you've basically gone backwards. If you'd carried on downhill N or NE, you'd have met the road in about an hour. It may be a bit boring, (unless you carry on through the Torridon mountains) but in such a tired state, it would have been safer and welcomed.

Oh good!! In our case, I have more hiking and long distance backpacking experience than Ben so I try to go his pace..physically and mentally
