DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake is a stunning reimagining of the beloved masterpiece and narrative beginning to The Erdrick Trilogy - the first three games of the mainline DRAGON QUEST series. Featuring vibrant HD-2D graphics, new and modernized features, and a refined narrative, players are invited to set out on an epic fantasy adventure to save the world from a dark evil.
Years ago, the great hero Ortega bid farewell to his wife and child as he set off on a quest to defeat the villainous Archfiend, Baramos. Ortega failed his quest, and Baramos still threatens the world. Now, on their sixteenth birthday, Ortega’s only child is summoned by the king of Aliahan and entrusted with a mission of the highest import: to take on Ortega’s quest, vanquish Baramos, and save the world.
Accompanied by a band of travelling companions chosen in the beginning of the game, players are immersed in a vast HD-2D world full of towns, dungeons, and caves, meet fascinating characters, and fight ferocious monsters in enhanced turn-based battles.

I have always loved DQ3 on the GBC, and I cannot wait to get my hands on this version. I didn’t want the other Switch version of DQ3, but this, I want.
I had a feeling you would be lucky enough to play this when i saw about the visit you made to SE. So glad that after 3 years it will be releasing this year and the first two are getting the same treatment. Hoping that if they do well enough there will be more in this style, drooling over a style of DQ9 like this.

@@magemasher22 cant say i have dived deep into the older games of turn based rpg's, but i like the genre, so i dont think the age will affect me much and this is a remake so not so many rough edges either

I don't get emotional for most things, but for some of my favourite games, I really do.
Got teary eyed when the news came out and I can't wait for the game to be released.
I hope they also plan to remake the Zenithian trilogy (IV, V, VI) in the future, preferably with the VIII / XI style . (Already imagining how Mage would simp over Debora's "love" 😂)

i've never played a dragon quest game before but this looks amazing
The round-based combat is one of the things I love about DQ -- it's much more exhilarating compared to those that has visible turn orders and per-character turns.
The OG combat requires you to get familiar with your party's speed and it's great that you always need to pay attention when encountering new enemies whose agility is unknown.

The most beautiful remake of this game was made for the Super Famicom. The pixel art in that version is some of the most beautiful i have seen. But this version look gorgeus too😊👍

While I'm not a big fan of the juxtaposition between 2D and 3D, DQ3 is an amazing game. Especially when you SPOILER into the SPOILER from SPOILER and SPOILER. So good.

Love the Octopath style but my only complaint with it was the colors were very muted in those games. But the colors in this remake are very vibrant, which is amazing. Really looking forward to this.

You know something Mage I definitely agree with you on increasing battle speeds for all these older RP g's because not everyone is gonna have the patience or anything of that nature to sit and wait for several hours just to do some grinding. I also love how this new trend of An enemy's name changes color the more they start losing health idea because it's also a thing in Eiyuden Chronicles and that saved my ass a lot in fights. So to see that dragon quest 3 is doing that is gonna make going through boss battles and some grinding sessions a lot more easier to go through. That being said I had a feeling that you were gonna be invited to play a Beta Build of The Game and I'm Jealous By The Way but at least I did have Some Time In Between the long Waiting PERIOD to play some of the Older games like DQ 5, DQ 4 I beat and easily an A tier game and going through 8. Overall amazing that you were able to play the Beta Build of this awesome game and it looks Gorgeous just like star ocean second story R, Really love this age of HD Sprite graphics!

No character attack animations is kind of a bummer. Honestly, Golden Sun had that on the Game Boy Advance! But I still don't regret my preorder as the world looks gorgeous

I don't have other human beings irl that care about this so here we are lol, this looked incredible! I was so excited to see the full Erdrik trilogy, 1, 2 and 3 all 2d-hd remasters. Gonna be hundreds of hours of joy right there.
When they say 'holiday' 2024 what the heck does that mean? We have holidays all over, does it mean christmas like many of the releases are coming out in Nov? or will this be playabale sooner? I know 1 and 2 are coming 2025.
Still no news on the rumoured FFIX.. these 'leakers' have been talking about it for years and years now and there is STILL absolutely 0 official confirmation. I completely understand the temptation to ignore until announcement but this time the leaks seemed so real and I'm too emotionally invested to not care haha.

I was very worried about the music becasue I remember straight up hating it in DQ11 so I'm pleased to hear it's good this time around.

From the trailer, it looks like the personality test is back? Tbh, I'm not crazy about that mechanic but if they reworked it, it might work for me. Otherwise, everything looks fantastic. I suspect it'll have a lot of new content - even based on the original reveal, you could tell they were introducing new things (like the mysterious bulletin board by the castle)

I'd say with this being the first one chronologically, it's a great one to start with! They tend to be (mostly) standalone like final fantasy though, so you're all good
I've fully finished DQ3 multiple times (minus some of the medal collecting). Always the Hero and 3 Sages lol. It looks so good. It's weird that you can't choose targets since you could on the Gameboy Color version that I've played so much of. But I'll reserve judgement once it actually drops. I do like not needing to save only at the kings and having voiced NPCs!

While I'm massively excited for this, I'm also excited for the Remake of I and II as well in 2025.
I hope they give us a cell shaded remake of IV V and VI... kind of like how they did with XI. then the only thing after that would be VII and VIII-- 8 is my favorite, they need to give us more playable characters. I like they made Red and Morrie playable, but it would have made sense for Marek, and Rolo and maybe even the Elf woman to join at least too make Ishamari and Bangerz guest party members who fight.
I’ll be honest, I’m normally not a fan OOf HD 2D, Octopath looked too washed out. But this looks so much more, bold and colorful. I’m definitely liking what I’m seeing.
Not that what of stopped from buying the game, DQ is DQ after all.

tried DQ3 SNES emulated few years ago. good lord the opening cutscenes went hard back then in the 90s. the game was actually hard, 1st dungeon wiped out my party....oww ☠️
