The 3DS version was the version I was hoping we would get in the west. I loved my 3DS and would take it everywhere and this would've DEFINITELY been the number one game for me! Just so charming!
@@true_gamer39 This 3DS version is unique. First it was release in Japan and never got a translation. (Also hackers find it hard to hack and translate due to coding). Back when it was release, people around the world made some movements and Twitter hashtags to ask Square Enix to translate but never got much attention. Proving the point that there wasn't a solid fanbase outside of Japan. Then the ps4 and Switch version came out. 3DS version still is a rare case of a non translate Japan only game.
I remember before they announced a Steam version I was telling myself I'd be fine with the 3DS version, assuming both would be released outside of Japan. How unfortunate that it wasn't in the end.
One of the biggest moments of my life was being in Japan when DQXI released. I hadn't planned on it but I somehow stumbled into going back home with a Japanese 3ds, 2 versions of DQXI and a giant grin on my face. I tell you, I put 90 hours into a 3DS game while not knowing Japanese just because I was so hyped for DQXI having 3 different versions. I knew back then that the 3DS version would probably never get localized so I just powered through the game.
I would love to play the 3ds version eventually!!! Just finished it a few weeks ago on switch so I'm on to other titles I haven't played, you betcha imma play dq3 hd 2d tooooo
Great video! Thanks for all the great footage from the game. I actually think the more abstract and cartoony 3DS art style looks better in many ways. 🎨🎨🎨 The realistic-ish environments and lighting in the console versions takes away a bit from the fantastic cartoony character design of Dragon Quest. I suppose the big companies don't pretend to know - or they don't care - about cartoons being all about simplification and abstraction. Adding too much lighting, textures and hair strands and stupid stuff like that just takes away from the potential visual impact. Anyways, as many have mentioned, really hoping for a fan translation of the 3DS version sometimes.
Extremely well done video, I find the 3DS graphics and it’s aesthetic quite charming, makes it a bigger shame that it’s japan only. Hopefully it gets translated in the future so people like me can replay one of the best games in a different way.
Great video. I'll take it one step further, i MISS 3DS graphics, i miss budget 3DS JRPGs, i love Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince on the Switch, but all i could think about when playing it was how much i wished it had chibi graphics instead and ran on the 3DS, there's something about fully 3D non AAA games that just look weird on the Switch, Atlus for example went crazy on the 3DS releasing like 20 JRPGs and they can't really do that now, it's either PS5 or Switch, chibi low poly 3D graphics are dying.
Unfortunately, not currently! Though I've been slyly petitioning for one in the background of videos so hopefully someone picks up on the subliminal messaging!
Well aside from Xbox, the other platforms have ways to play with better graphics. PS4 can just play the original release and Steam can just use a restoration mod I assume.
I mean if there was an english version sure. Not about to replay a 100+ hour JRPG without being able to understand a single word. I can already imagine the agony of choosing the correct spell 😂

Same here but the 3DS version NEVER did leave Japan.
I was also hoping to get that version too. Partly because it’s portable. Never thought DQ11 would be on switch back then.
Hope one day, the 3ds version of dragon quest XI will have a fan trad English patch.
We can only hope 😭
It would be easier to learn japanese 😢
Hope the same with french translation ^^
Still waiting 😭
The 3Ds version aesthetic as hell
I bought this since I had a Japanese 3DS. Preferred this art style to the somewhat generic anime/Unreal Engine look of the console version.
I like how the Luminary was more expression in the 3ds
PRAYING for a english patch
🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
If there was an English patch, there’d be no hesitation for me to play through this.
One day. 🙏
Personally I like 3DS style better than the other versions and was sad when that didn't get ported over, though I guess I can see why.
Very good video! Hope to see a fan translation soon :)
Still praying for a translation 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😩
Why isn't there one

I hear it's heavily encrypted.
dragon quest, dude

U should review all of the dragon quest games. Like as a series
Game looks so Cute

Wait... There's a 3DS version???
I thought it was a common knowledge lol…
Thank you this is now the 3rd copy of dragon quest 11 I own and now I’m only missing 7 and 8 3ds copies to complete my full series
I hope there's a fan translation in the works soon.
I THINK THIS IS GORGEOUS
Still hoping someone will release an english patch mod in the future..
Great video, subscribed
now if only someone could make an english patch of the game lol
The quality of your content rrally threw me off, hope you go viral, keep it up fren :)
Dang this looks like fun. Wish there was english patch

I really wish they put the 3ds version in the West because I really loved dragon quest 8 and 7.
You have to play the Tales of games
Whenever it's possible to download new langauges to my brain i'll be sure to play this version. Might be the first thing I'd do with my new knowledge.
Great video
Awww the 3ds version is so cute, is there an English patch?
Unfortunately, not currently! Though I've been slyly petitioning for one in the background of videos so hopefully someone picks up on the subliminal messaging!
@@AnyButton2Start😂yeah I hope so too. As amazing the the ps4/pc graphics is, there something so charming about the 3ds version.
This video should be called "DQ11 on the 3ds is smaller than the ps4 version". It does look sick tho.
Sadly even the definitive edition isn’t definitive since they all use the switch version’s lesser quality assets compared to the ps4 version

Cool how there's 3 (4) versions of this game. Someone needs to do a text-only version too.
Or a LARP version perhaps???
Honestly, I was willing to double dip into this game if both version comes in english region but sadly we only got the switch version.
I loved it on the switch!!!
at least the characters somewhat have their faces changing animations as they speak too
The 3DS Artstyle fits better in the game.
I really Dont like the PS4 one I finished the one at the 3DS
I've only played the 2D version!
how tough would you say playing it in japanese is? Did you use a guide to know what spells are which?
to be honest I've played enough of the english version that i knew the battle menu off by heart so I didn't need a guide
I would if there was an English patch
Dragon Quest fans really got shafted in the 3ds era. We missed out on so many games.
If there was a way to remove the 3ds region lock i could buy the game
there is
Beauty 3DS VERISON.
Your character is called AAAAAAAAAAAAA LOL
lol i hadn't learnt any japanese when i made this video so that explains that
I mean if there was an english version sure. Not about to replay a 100+ hour JRPG without being able to understand a single word. I can already imagine the agony of choosing the correct spell 😂
u underestimate your own visual comprehension, its really not that hard to play games in japanese
English Patch anyone Gib now Pls 😭
I am playing it now using Google translate😃😃😃
Tell me if you got far in game. It's really a ton of text to translate 😅
@@LeooSaGoh It's sometimes tough as the translation software buggy. But it is mostly enjoyable.
I love dragon quest
Taylor Edward Smith Helen Garcia Mary
my favourite dragon quest characters
I had given up on the 3d version, but think i'm gonna pick-up it back up
still waiting for the english patch... if anyone knows where to find it, please let me know...
Is the 3ds version have a marriage feature?
Japanese... Too bad.. Cannot into kana
FF better no cap
Dragon Quest is more consistent at least. Like half of the mainline FF games are straight up putrid.
It might be. I still prefer Dragon Quest tho, like a million times.
FF is objectively worse - even the "worst" dq games are still good, same can't be said for FF.
