We finally have it boys, Dragon Quest III HD-2D is officially real, and watch me go out and gush all over this and analyze some things about what we've seen so far. From the game itself, what people have tried out, and many other things.

I love that the Amazon charts placed the Switch version way higher than the others. While the series has had games on other consoles over the years, it really does feel like a Nintendo franchise to me.

Meh, more so that it's a console, affordable and portable, and you would think at 60fps, that's why the switch version beats out the competition.
I prefer it on the switch for those reasons, but if it's 30 on that platform I will get it on pc.

Europeans will also have a full translation of the Erdrick trilogy for the very first time.
We have many official translations already, notably from DQ Builders (for I & II), or DQ11, or DQ Monsters, but it will be the first complete translation.
More people can now fully enjoy this game, and that's a big moment
European translation? What do you mean? In what language? Several or a specific one?
@@snesmaniac228 The "main" ones: French, German, Italian, Spanish (there's also a Spanish for South America, apparently, so that's neat.). So Western Europe.
Now finally that misterious cutscene at the end of DQXI starts making sense!
While I haven't played them in full, I have played demos of both Octopath and Live a Live, and one of my biggest issues with the HD2D style was that the character sprites always looked so small, which made it hard to make out a lot of the details. Based on this trailer, that does not appear to be the case here. While those other games seemed to have just one fixed, zoomed out camera angle, DQ3 looks to use a much more dynamic camera that really allows you to see the details in the sprites better in a lot of shots.
This was one of the first rpgs I actually beat on the nes. Now.... I want to go back to it again. Revisit it and the rest of Erdricks story.
Then I want to play four qnd five all over again. Relive my childhood.
My first Dragon Quest was 8. I loved it. I saw Goku on the cover and was immediately attracted. Having only played 8 and 11, I'm a fan for life and will play all remakes at launch. Very excited.
My first was the Gameboy Color Version of III. And man I’m so excited for this beautiful remake of a childhood classic!!!
that's Royo. - the reason DQIII took so long is , as with DQ 7 3DS everything in DQ 1 - 2 - 3 was digitize inc character art ( toriyama) and maps, items & music was archive digital.
If you look closely at the cover art, the hero's eyes are still that of Toriyama's style.

@@ThatsRoyo Even the hair clumping together is reminiscent of Toriyama's. I think it'll still have some of Toriyama's signature style, but just with slightly different proportions and line strokes. I'm confident that they've struck a good balance, paying homage to the classic DQ artstyle.
thatsRoyo - the music is by Tokyo Metro Symphony.
but its not Directed by Sugiyama-san , but its his Sheet music.
and its not using the DQ III Symphonic suite.
I think this is the BEST compromise.

I just wish they’d make ports of dragon quest 4-10 already theirs no reason they can have final fantasy 1-9 playable everywhere except Xbox but neglect dragon quest for essentially 30 plus yrs like thats outrageous

Congrats on 1000 subscribers! I hope they will release 7, 9, and 10 to America. (I did not get to play 8 with the expanded team members yet, just the original PS 2 version, so I'd like a re-release of that one too.) I have not been able to play them. I think I've played DQ 3 on 3 systems now! I preordered it this time too. ready for the goof off to sage grind again!
I just hope personalities make your party members have unique dialogue. That'd be a dream.
thats Royo - I am Disappointed however that USA never got the SFC DQ remakes nor the Wii DQ I - II -III remake on one disk using Famicom & SFC versions and they created NEW Animated intro .
we never got that on the Switch or the 3DS.
all we got were the MOBILE versions. which I am playing now.
mobile ports of games are not the best way to play the games at all.
i will be buying dragon quest 3 hd 2d remake on steam i have it wish listed already. in my opinion it is worth full price because it is a remake.

Good question and for the LOVE of God the games NEED to have a NO encounters cheat Cave to Rhone is still Brutal these days as it was 40+ years ago since nearly Everything their knows the full party instant kill spell and unlike YOUR version of it where it practically NEVER works in that cave when the enemies USE it it almost always works.
A no encounters DQ2 would be the BEST way around that.

Only the NES version of Dragon Quest 2 has that high of difficulty. The re-releases were all significantly easier. No need to lower the difficulty even further. Luckily, it seems we will have difficulty options so everyone can be happy.
Also, it hasn’t quite been 40 years yet. It was released in 1990 in the US under the name Dragon Warrior 2.
Not really I played the Game boy color version of DQ2 and the have to Rhone enemies Thwack skills still NEVER miss and will still 1 shot a LV 50 party and EASILY I'd rather have a NO encounters cheat to NOT have to deal with that on a 2D HD remake of DQ2.
Even a EASY mode difficulty won't HELP for the Cave to Rhone at all.
rhatsEoyo - the early sprites for DQIII remaster were elongated, and in the DQ III remake survey, I complained about that & other items.
the NEW sprites are better. and graphics look general better.
I hope they use symphonic suite music from DQ III.

it's not too surprising cause octopath 2 also had a graphics mode that was capped at 30
when do you think we're finally gonna see dq12? switch2 launch?
that's my prediction we could see it during the build up for switch 2 though I doubt it'll be a launch title cause of 1+2 HD 2D

Also I don't fully agree with you. While I agree 8 and 9 need the 3d remake I think 7 would be better in the HD 2d style. We got a 3d remake of 7 on the 3ds and I didn't like it as much. 7 was my first dragon quest game back when it had to be called dragon warrior in the US for copyright reason and I feel like a HD 2d remake would give me a bigger nostalgia hit the another 3d remake

i think its great that they are remaking this that way more people like me will get to play dragon quest games.the hd 3d style fits the games perfectly and its a more updated graphical art. people like me will buy it day.

dragon quest 3 hd 2d remake doses not look like it will disappoint why not wait untill you play the game or see reviews of the game before you make a statement like that. if they can keep all of what was in the original and add quality of life stuff i think it will do well.as gamers we should be open and what until games come out than see if it is something we want to buy.
About that Cat Suit armor its gotten normally in game and while Mages can equip it its still pure CRAP the only GOOD reason to USE it is for higher MP boosts per lv up/faster LEARN rate for spells but that's ALL it does but by the time you get it normally its CRAP since it doesn't even LOWER the damage from spells/breath attacks and by games ONLY THOSE types on armors on Mages/Entire party at the ONLY ones worth using.
As for the boosts via this DLC their still worthless all THOSE do is give out 1 exp PER step as as soon as any party member goes from lv 1 to lv 2 your still better off KILLING enemies in the world map and even the weakest metal slime types make those boots completely worthless 1 EXP PER step you take is pretty much CRAP as soon as a LV 1 party member gains EVEN 1 lv up.
