Have a 2017 5.0l 4x4 regular cab, full bolt on's, NA. Custom grill, full Led lighting, Airaid intake, aftermarket remote starter, magnaflow dual side exit exhaust, ford factory lowering shackles, removed stock blocks.. can only dream about this. Because of the current situation I had to give up my job as my local food pantry coordinator, being immunocompromised 😬. One day at a time I guess.
Hopefully will be back to work soon 🙏

How is the Whipple tune? Does it require datalogging and revisions or is it plug-and-play and safe/drivable from the get-go? I'm considering a Gen 5 kit for my 2019 later this summer. Not looking to eek out every last HP, just want something safe. Would you recommend the whipple tune, or a 3rd party?

The Whipple tune is the safest way to go. It’s plug and play, and they do tons of testing before they release anything to the public. And the Whipple tune is EPA certified. Whipple for the win 🤘🤩

I wish I had that kind of disposable income for my 2020. That install looks clean as hell. Would it be possible to run that setup through factory manifolds and cats? I know a lot of people would probably run headers, but from what I understand, that's gonna involve aftermarket cats. Just my experience as a general repair tech, but aftermarket cats are a P0420/430 waiting to happen.
This truck actually left our shop with p0420/430. Aftermarket long tube headers is what caused it. It’s what customer wanted tho.
Theres a famous youtuber that had a catastrophic engine failure after a vmp supercharger install while using factory cats. The factory cats failed causing too much heat and back pressure.
@@07slowbalt problem with that is people use random tunes that aren’t tested or certified. As long as you go with whipple charger and Whipple tune it’s safe and EPA certified and street legal.
@@L8R-HP im not disagreeing to that statement whatsoever. Vmp is a pretty well known installer and tuner though and they found the failure point was with the cats.
@@07slowbalt the question is did he run the production VMP tune? or did he have someone mess with the tune? I’m not sure what type of testing VMP does before they release their product, but I’m involved with whipple and I see the testing the do at ford on engine dynos and wind tunnels years before the engine is in production, the tunes are approved by ford and EPA certified in all states. If anyone out there blows an engine with a whipple product on it, 99% of the time it’s because they messed with the tune.

I just installed a Whipple Gen5 into my 2019 4x4 supercab F150. I would like to know if you are running headers and at which RPM do you launch in 4 wheel drive.
This was a customer truck, we did put long tube headers on it but I personally didn’t like it because it was too loud and check engine light came on for cats. I would launch at around 2500rpm. Keep it in 4auto if that’s an option on your truck.

Does whipple supercharger come with a warranty
Mike Blue Thunder B warranty on the parts but it does void ford warranty.

Biker62Boy oil pump gear is stock, the f150 doesn’t rev up as high as a mustang or Shelby so it’s not an issue.

Not needed on the f150, they don’t rev high so it’s safe. I did it on my gt350 tho

@@L8R-HP your gonna need them gears if you do a tune. Seeing as what you've done so far i dont see why you wouldnt. Thats small change to protect that big investment.
@@07slowbalt oil pump gear upgrade is not needed on the F150 as they don’t rev as high. Mustangs and shelbys are a different story tho. My Shelby does have the upgraded oil pump gear.

Who programmed it and didn’t have to change the oil pump gears?
Tune comes with the kit from whipple. The f150 doesn’t really need the Oil pump gear upgrade because they don’t rev as high as mustangs.
