On the recital disc she does so many very great pieces for Mezzo. You will be amazed at her range going from one aria to the next. I obviously missed that she passed which saddens me. She was such a great singer and deserved even more fame than she accorded. That voce is unbelievable going through several octaves. Rrst in Peace, dear Ewa. I miss You, We all miss you.

What do you guys (raynardi & DiomedesDioscuro ) want from this woman ! If you think her contralto voice is not "developed", just listen to basses from now on ! This aria is totally unnecessarily difficult even for an opera singer. Rossini must have had a bass, disguised as a contralto with coloratura skills in order to get this role, fooling everyone, including Rossini, into thinking he was a woman. I have seen & heard many mezzo-sopranos and contraltos sing this music and my feelings as an empathetic human goes out to whomever sings it. It takes a gymnastic voice to perform the masculine gymnastics of _Calbo._ Respect those women who perform this trouser-role, one of Rossini's greatest creations. Be thankful you two lived during the time of Podles, who is no longer with you ‼️
Listening to this one I had (a similar?) feeling that some notes were inconsistently quiet. I rather think it was her worse day, or the night's selection of arias required that she adhered to a high placement. I know her basso: it stunned me many times. I mean, if it's not underdeveloped, there were other reasons for what we can hear here.

Fabulous singer--should have been better known--the Met under-utilised her.
So true ....I discovered her all too late ..Her voice was rare and unique ...I can't get enough of anything recorded by her .
