    I noticed the same problem with the exit lights, thought I was going crazy.

      Pretty disappointing tbh.
      I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.

      Yeah, and tbh I started to have my worries once I heard on the news it was a slightly smaller screen, I don’t know if I’d say ‘slightly’, it’s a pretty big difference from memory.
      I don’t know if I give it one more chance or not with Dune part 2 🤷🏽‍♂️

      @@lachlanadams7087 yes it's not as big as the old one and I really missed the 70 mm film projection. I watched, interstellar on 70 mm film when it came out, and I watched it again on the laser projection, and it was definitely worse than the film 70 mm version

    The prices of this IMAX cinema is absurd. Almost 40 bucks for a film that isn't projected in 70MM, 35 bucks for the front row seats. The couple seats being located in front the cinema seem like a huge cash grab. The price is much more worth at Melbourne IMAX imo and they have discount days and their own membership. (Heck even Christopher Nolan acknowledges the existence of IMAX Melbourne.)

    I went to old imax. It was scary, the screen was so big, felt like i was falling towards screen. Added to experience, was scary and real in a good way. This looks like a regular cinema.

    I think you hit the nail on the head. I went last night and thought it was incredibly sub par, while the building is absolutely beautiful, and the cinema looks okay. The machine in the front is super weird and didnt work. And the film I watched wasnt even projected properly on the screen.. Also one bathroom really, That was definitely a design oversight.

      the one bathroom is crazy. the building looks amazing tbh and so does the interior but the rest is a bit of a let down, I had trouble with the ticket machine also, so I decided to just talk to the staff which were lovely.

    How was the screen brightness? I ask because Event are notorious for running their cinemas at 30% brightness to save on bulb costs.

      I didn't notice any problem with the screen brightness, but I did notice a problem with the exit lights being quite bright.

    Interesting. I guess when I take a trip to Australia I will visit the IMAX in Melbourne instead.

      I can’t believe that it costs nearly 40 dollars for a feature film there. Granted Australian dollars are generally higher than US dollars, but it’s still absurd. Also when you talked about the issue with the front view seats, I got reminded of Grand Cinema Sunshine in Tokyo, which has recliners in the very front. They should have followed this example.

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah no recliners is crazy lol

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah Melbourne one shows 70mm film too so you get better quality than 4K laser projection

    Thanks so much for the heads up. Any recommendations for better cinemas? I watched Beyoncé's new film at Parramatta but the sound was terrible. Hoping for a better option and screen in Sydney 🙏🏾

      Hoyts Entertainment Quarter isnt bad, it's where lots of films get made in Sydney, they have a HDR screen too which might be a new fun experience.

      I can second Hoyts at Entertainment Quarter. Their screens are bright, their cinemas clean and super comfortable. All the cinemas there have proper comfy recliners. Their Extreme Screens and their Samsung Onyx screen are all super impressive and actually worth the price of admission. Recommend joining the Hoyts club if you go their semi regularly as it’s a one-off $15 sub fee to save $10 off ticket cost every time.

    I'm looking at booking tickets for Dune 2. If you need to go to the womens toilet during the session, is it better to book on the right or left? I'm looking at reclining seats near the back.

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it would be best to book seats on the right side of the theatre as the restrooms are located on that side.

    Thanks my pre-upgrade experience was bad becuase the seats were so close together I could taste the peanut M&Ms the guy was chewing next to me, you may have just saved me from an additional toture session.

    Screen doesn't look that big, looks similiar to some vmax or titan screens in Newcastle at half the price.

    Did you notice wheelchair accessible spaces, were they to close to the front?

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are right near the front and only on the far left and right, kind of sub optimal. 😢

    DO NOT GET THE COUPLES SEAT at Sydney IMAX!!
    This is almost like a scam. An absolutely inferior experience paid at a premium price! Despite the IMAX ticketing map showing each pair of couple seats separately, in reality, they are right next to other couple seats with barely any separations.
    Furthermore the price of the Couple seat is more expensive than 2 tickets of the standard seating, yet the couple seats are located near the FRONT (3rd row from the screen). The recliner chair barely reclines and there are no leg rests. You will have to strain your neck and back to see the whole screen.

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha ha, yeah I was looking at the couple seats and they are so far at the front not the best

    Yeah the front seats were filled when I went, I couldn't believe those seats were real. Saw some old people sit there and watched the movie from that angle. It's not just looking up, you need to follow the action and faces of people so you would have to constantly move your head left and right just to see whats going on. Ridiculous. And how are only two rows recliners? Every hoyts cinema has recliners these days. No effort and a massive downgrade, no "wow factor" when I walked in.

    • @Lens_Addict
      @Lens_Addict  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely downgrade from the previous imax Sydney cinema which also had 70 mm film and the worlds largest screen
