- Here’s how to remove the two black roof trim pieces correctly and without breaking the clips!
A very easy task with 1 or 2 flat headed screwdrivers, some towels to protect the car and water /detergent to clean all the crud out.
It’s very easy once you see the technique I show in the video.
Thanks all,
Great demonstration on how the clips work along the glass, and on the little posts. This will save us a lot of time putting on new trim!
Hey man, thanks for filming and sharing this video! It really helped with an SSR roof rail install on my '23 Impreza. I started removing the trim using their instructions, broke two clips. Stopped. TH-cam. Found this video, removed both strips with no more breakage. Thanks a bunch!
Excellent! Great stuff!
Thankyou very much for the reply, all the best.
Thank you, I've searched everywhere for this information.
Excellent, good stuff- hope the video helps. Message me if you need further advice , I’m a keen owner . All the best.
Hi, thanks for the demonstration I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise 👍
Man.. Thank you! Great description of the rear clips. Cheers!
Nice video mate, cheers.
Perfect video
Thank you very much! Liked.
Other side you slide them the other direction towards the front of the car, fyi. Otherwise great tutorial, prevented me from damaging any of the clips.
yes
Thanks for the video pal
Thank you mate!!! Mine are lifted in the rear window,I’m assuming my clips are broken.
Love the sticker " my other car's a Delorean". Strange how one side is a bit rusty the other like new under those roof rails?
Yeah this car was pretty shitty underneath to, and I guess it was just parked in a way that the left side stayed wet.
The right sides decent.
But a great car now
@@griceyboy Good to see you again last night. Hope you enjoy your weekend at the show. Cheers Aron
I'm replacing rear windscreen so this was great thanks. The top one is that similar to remove?
@@rebel.mma.youtube hey, thanks for the reply. The top one is indeed. Once you clean all the dirt out and carefully get them off, then they will reinstall much nicer once everything is dirt free .
@griceyboy legend thanks really helpful
Thank you!
Hi Paul, I'm having a go at removing the windscreen trim at the mo, and don't get the bit about pushing the fingers of the clips away from the glass....they just spring back! are they supposed to latch or something...or should you push BOTH fingers back at the same time, hold them back and try to prise up the clip out of the channel before moving on to the next clip?....thanks !
Hey, check out 3:15 on my video. So basically on each of the 4 clips (I think it was 4), you need to press in each end of each clip for that clip to pop and release . You might find that you likely have crud underneath, so you may need to get your fingers under the black trim (or maybe a plastic putty/filler/P38 spatula) to lift the trim slightly whilst you press the clip ends. When you press then in , just a few mm’s, you should see the clip/trim release from the glass. It’s likely crud if they don’t just pop up.
Or press both ends if a clip at once with a flat spatula .
But a tiny bit of leverage upward should stop the clips just reseating onto the glass again.
Do all 4, then clean them all up and then they just press back into the glass again (just like up each clip with the little metal notch on the cars channel ).
Try that :), but once you do one or see the technique, they should all pop off very easy and with minimal pressure.
@@griceyboy Thanks for your swift reply! D'you know, yours is the only demo and explanation on how to properly release these clips that I could find anywhere.....cheers!
@@nicam49 ah good stuff indeed. I try to be helpful on my random car videos .
I uploaded a new one today on this mornings task of sorting the Clunking on rear Subaru struts - the mod seems to have worked which is very pleasing as I wanted to retain the original Prodrive units .
Excellent stuff,
Those black plates inside in channel would be for a roof rack correct? If I were to install a roof rack would I need to cut the trim ?
Hey there, so Subaru did make a very short run of roof racks for our models of car (wrx/sti Non-estate), plus Thule made one - but they are incredibly rare and out of production - as people just dont add things onto the roof of this model.
So just keep looking and be prepared to buy fast, as there a rare item(certainly in the Uk - as I’ve never seen a set for sale on eBay , ever ).
Thank you
Thanks, otherwise I’d have pulled and broke something or given up 🤣
