In this video, I discuss the topic of comparing yourself to others when it comes to learning a new skill, especially while undertaking something like a digital art journey. Hope you enjoy.

I compare but I don’t let it affects my work in a negative way. I see things other do and try to learn how to do that myself. I’m learning about lighting and shadows on clothing and in general right now mainly. I have been working on facial and body anatomy for a while. I want to learn more about landscape.I used to let comparing hinder me but I realized I can do that if I put more work in and give myself a goal in a reasonable amount of time. Literally in 8th grade my art was so bad like a 1st grader but I’m going into 11th grade in the fall and my art has improved. People pls don’t set goals in a unrealistic amount of time. Give yourself some months instead of a few amount of days to get something right. Those artist you envy didn’t get it in a matter of days. I’m literally working 3-5 hours a day on my art and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be as decent as I am now.

This is real shit here for me. Just started drawing and got a pen display recently, and I'm gonna try to be at least partly self-taught, but so far I haven't had much enthusiasm to draw because I think I'm scared of drawing shitty stuff, which is to be expected when just starting out, but I can't shake this feeling that I won't attain the skill level that I hope to, especially when looking at some artists and their pieces that just make me question whether I can even do this.
Your vids are making me kinda re-evaluate my thought process, and while this is still gonna be a bitch to manage learning this shit (mostly) by myself, I feel like I'm at the very least more confident to just go at it and see what happens. Good shit you're makin', keep it up!

I stopped drawing. Its probably because of all the cons you listed. But you know what, I'll start drawing again. And ill keep it consistent. But I'll start drawing again next week because I'm camping this week.
Also very good video and I envy you for this, good sir. Very influential.
