I don't know if anyone can resonate with this, but I noticed that my quality of drawing staggers every month, right before my period. Recognizing this pattern has helped me get through an artblock easier, allowing it to pass, and pick up drawing again when a new cycle beginds and I am once again in full swing.
I’ve had mad artblock and burnout for so long… I’m taking break which helps, but kinda feels like I’m wasting time if I’m not drawing, but usually afterwards I just get a glow up so ig that’s good! But thank you sm for the advice! ^^
The way I was so invested in the speedpaint of your time travel trio watching a movie, only to get jumpscared by a new piece so hard I said out loud, *_"SPORTACUS???!?!"_* But genuinely, this is very good advice!! Changing my approach to art like you recommended helped me finish a personal project I've been putting off for aaaages. Thank you for being an inspiration!
Something that helps me is returning to somewhere comfortable. I get art block myself when I feel like I'm too challenged and that I can't do something. So me, I go back to doing fanart. Recently I drew Angel Dust like 20 times before I created an entirely new OC- well, 3 new OCs. Although referencing a screenshot has also helped in the past and created one of my favorite pieces of a different OC before. I literally just drew him as Velvette in a frame from Respectless (I didn't bother with the background and the other characters) although it was more supposed to be a style study
This may not be that relevant, but your art is amazing! Also, from what I know so far about the story with those three (idk the name lol) and I thought of the idea of an/the antagonist being maybe the creator of the book that gets them to time travel? But I digress This did help my horrible artist self thrive a molecule more lol
That is helpful advice Emma, I’m getting back into Drawing again by making a Fathers Day Caricature of a Family Friend. I’ve Artblocked since thanksgiving, and I’m sure this will motivate me forward 🥺🥹. And I give you my blessing to pull through swiftly as a cold.
Each tik tok or post of anything on TH-cam I’ve been so self critical lately 😅. Like I’m getting likes and positivity but then I observe other artists and their patterns to see how their engagement is . And feel when I do it , it’s a different vibe or essentially the same thing I was already doing it , but then I’m like let me work on a professional portfolio while making content. It’s a struggle lol ❤
thank you so much for the advice you gave!! I was also curious if its okay to copy other art photos from Pinterest to help around art block , just to only improve with drawing the art you want do and not plagiarizing the original artist.
