Yeah, I had to take a 2-3 year break before I really got into art again. I felt like I lost a part of myself, but I recently got myself back into art, and I have so much inspiration after that break. It really makes me appreciate drawing, which I had lost after a while.
Reminder: Hating your art is alright! That feeling happens one way or another. What isn't alright is that you let the hate take over you. Don't let that happen, you're stronger than you know :)💙
it makes me sad how on my ibis paint, theres a gap between my creations. From Untitled5 to Untitled12, Because that entire gap is filled with deleted drawings
I really resonate with this topic because rn I'm still struggling with liking my art- seeing how i haven't improved as much as other people and even younger artists being better made me feel demotivated even though i know i should be rooting for them. Last year i really reached a breaking point where i stopped drawing for fun and feared even going near social media or anything related to art- distancing myself from my online artist friends. Thankfully I started drawing again bit by bit- Ig my own advice for myself or anybody reading this is to not pressure yourself to improve in just one day- be happy and draw what you like- not what others want to see- but yeah! great video as always TwT I'm glad I found this channel-
I relate so much ^^; + I lack the self-discipline to force myself to practice & study art on a regular basis..... I rely on "Mood"/"Feeling" rather than training myself to be disciplined to practice my drawing skills. It kind of hurts me mentally... Get hurt mentally by myself lolz
I just think ‘’if you a year ago saw yourself making this how would you feel?’’ The answer is proud and happy but my standards are getting higher and higher so it doesn't always work
I just hate the way I draw faces, that’s it other people have incredible artstyles but I’m trash at drawing eyes and mouths and they always come out ugly
It's so true! I'm having an art block rn and it's so hard to get through sometimes. It does make me feel better that I'm not the only one who goes through this kind of stuff. Being an artist is never easy lol
Agreed a thing I noticed to get out of art block is drawing smth you feel proud of. It helped me and it works all the time. The problem is you don’t know what you wanna draw that you’ll be proud of or if you have the mentality it’ll suck
Another point that I often tell my friends: Only you know what you wanted your piece to look like. Even if it didn't quite turn out how you wanted, others don't know what you wanted it to look like. So, they only see it for what it is. And often times, that final piece is still really good. I.e. sometimes I'll look through my older art and find a piece that I remember not being proud of, but seeing it now I think it looks fine especially for my abilities at that time. I dont remember what I wanted that piece to look like, but looking at it now it's fine.
Being a young person who started drawing and steadily improving thanks to your videos, I feel sorry for the people who hate their own talent and abilities because of young people like me even though I also doubt my ability to improve my own art
This was really comforting and useful! I hope you feel better soon Blue, and know that you're a huge inspiration to loads of people, including me! I learned so much from you
@@xainabakram4946 No, actually, I’ve just fallen into some derealisation and “depressive” state even more, and don’t draw very rarely for now, so there’s not a lot of progress really :D
This is very comforting to hear, I went nearly 7 years without drawing after some not so fun life experiences. Thank you so much for your help, sometimes It helps knowing others struggle with this as well and we all grow at different rates!
Ever since i found your art and channel my art has been a lot more fun. I draw as a hobby but art is really important to me. Your tutorials are really good and you're a inspiration to me!
i’m 15 (almost 16) a few years ago i got really into art but after a few months i stopped. and now, at the beginning of 2022, i decided to try and become a better artist and actually improve my art. it’s now been about 7 months of drawing (2 of those being inconsistent) i feel guilty every time i take breaks. i have a tendency to become obsessed with certain things and then moving on after awhile so every time i take a break i feel like i’m slowly falling into the pit of giving up and moving onto something new. looking at artwork lights a fire in me, and it hurts because there are artists that make such beautiful art while my art can’t come close to looking as amazing as theirs. i wanna get better but i’m afraid of failing. and now i think i wanna pursue a career in art so i feel like if i don’t improve soon i might not be able to.
I'm about the same age (16 turning 17 this year), and I also have the same problem. I always see people who can easily stick to one thing for a long time, and I'm just like "How do they do that?"
Here's an idea that really helped me get over the whole "my art sucks" thought, especially the first beginner phase. You have eye experience and hand experience. Eye experience is way easier to level up than hand experience. Everyone, as they get older, already gain an eye for what they like and don't like. What looks right and wrong. So, when you first start drawing you're hand doesn't have much experience creating things and your eye can spot all the little problems and mistakes you make. It's a struggle but you have to push through it until your hand catches up. But as you get better, and you learn more about art, techniques, color theory, etc. your eye starts out-leveling your hand again. So you have to let your hand catch up again. Try new things, try emulating the things you see that you really like, and eventually your hand will start making the things you like, thus your art becomes "good" again. It's always a cycle because you're always learning as you go.
I'm from Brazil so... sorry for my english but since i started watching your videos my digital arts have started to get a lot better! I've been a "paper classic" designer for 14 years, but digital art everything feels so new to me so you've been helping me a lot!!!!! Thank you very much, I love your art.
I've been working to improve my art some recently (I've been trying out making multiple styles for myself, and its going relatively well, thankfully) and I find your art to be really inspiring! I will find myself aspiring to be able to draw similarly to you when trying to improve my art, despite you still improving your art yourself. I enjoy seeing what you create and its nice knowing someone you aspire to be like, still feels the same way as you sometimes. Thank you for the video, I'm never opposed to more motivation! Side Note: You mentioned you weren't feeling the best for this video, but I hope you can at least take this comment as some positivity if you need it~
I wish I had this video a few years ago when I hated my art so much to the point i started hating drawing TwT Just recently (recently meaning like, a year ago) I got back into the groove when I met a lot of new people (some of them are artists too) who have motivated me and have given me a new way to look at my art - they would point out things about it, small things which I didn't think were that special and they have made me love those tiny details in my drawings. So as I agree with all the things you said in the video, I'd also like to add another advice - surround yourself with people who know how to appreciate art, doesn't matter if it's your friend group or an online forum, just share your art and you'll get a new perspective on it :]
I used to find so much happiness in drawing and painting, and then somewhere along the line, I couldn't find the happiness I used to. I've tried taking breaks, and nothing changed. I don't know if I'll ever pick up a pencil ever again.
i’m pretty young and i only started actually trying to draw, watching tutorials, etc. like 2 weeks ago, but my hair has already gotten better. I just can’t find the right art style, and i have no motivation other then “i want to be able to shade properly, not just random grey spots in the general area that i think shadows are supposed to be”. i really can’t figure out how to color or shade, and that’s been making me stop immediately after i started.
That's relatable. I'm also currently struggling with my artstyle. Search up videos on shading. I'm also struggling with these topics, but when you see yourself improve in one of them, you suddenly get this burst of motivation.
As for me, I draw too, but not much ‘cause I usually procrastinate a lot & never really practice & I don’t even know where to start at first. So I just drew the same stuff, making mistakes & never changing anything & improving my art progress. I wanted to draw something new, but I feel like my brain is overwhelmed for thinking new ideas. I acted like that I’m a professional artist who never practice literally like, at all & I spend a lot hours drawing one thing just to make my artwork perfect ‘cause I draw really slow & add too much over detailed information to my characters & l loved it, not keeping it very simple. Also, I compare myself to those pro artists on TH-cam having better art than I do. So I’m related to you. this video really means a lot to me & thanks. You’re really inspired me to draw. I just wanted to do art for fun
ive been drawing for 7 years already, but in the recent years, I've notice that my art quality has started to decline, I'm getting burnt out so much more easily, and I'm ALWAYS afraid to step out of my comfort zone - yknow, hands in pockets, that mona lisa angle, hair over one eye and stuff. i was really tired of hating my art and everything i made, but then i came across your channel and this video. i truly want to say, thank you so so much for helping me get back on my feet with your videos, and your tutorials have helped me so much instead of me just lying around in bed being upset over my drawings. after this, I'm deciding to pick myself up and start fresh with a completely new page, maybe ill expand on Instagram, and other platforms - who knows? but you've truly helped me, and i believe many others so much, and i hope that you will one day also achieve your dreams!
Hope you feel better soon! And about this topic, I think many of us can agree that sometimes we either hate our own art style or think we suck because we've tried so many times to perfect a specific thing (anatomy for me and my stupid art style) but it just never works out as well as you think it will. People also always compare themselves to other artists because they want to be like them and who can blame you? I want to draw a specific art style I really like watching in an anime but sometimes I suck. Remember that you aren't the only one feeling this way and that art is like this, not everyone's born with "the talent" but you can always improve. Most of the time remember to have fun from what you do instead of thinking that it's like a whole business and that it has to be perfect. Make sure to find something you feel satisfied with and keep on going
Until today I thought that I could only have one style of art. You know, because it would be great to be original, and I thought it would be unprofessional my drawings change styles constantly (if I want to open an art account) But until today I realized that it's a very stupid thought, there really is nothing wrong in having more than one style, it is not a rule. I have always had more than five favorite art styles and I will not stop trying them.
Watching your video and reading the comments really made me feel alot better, like I'm not alone. I've been feeling pretty bad about not drawing for over a year, and even though I started drawing again I don't make as much progress as I'd like. But that's okay. Any improvement is better than no improvement. And I'm sick of drawing the same faces over and over again.
I swear to god you are literally one of my biggest inspirations. You are also the one who helped me discover Clip Studio and its now been my main program for idk how long. your style and editing is so calming and cool yet it still has that emotion behind it
I've had the issue of drawing at school. My real art is usually very emotional, I put emotion into every stroke. I also take inspiration from my own experiences and feelings which means my natural art is usually very sad, messy, and goes into some deep topics. My repressed art is much more smiley and happy looking, it's art that I'd think people would be interested in and not be weirded out by. But my new years resolution is to stop repressing myself and start making things that are true to me!
ive been getting artblock so often like id draw and when it’s finished, it’s so hard to pick myself up to draw again. im just glad im not alone and it’s comforting to know that my fav artists go through the same thing. art is never easy, but i wanna thank you for making it easy for others 💖
I know something that’s always helped me when I start hating my art is to just tell myself that even if I don’t believe I’ve improved much, that still implies that I’ve improved at least slightly, and that also I’m still learning! Oftentimes reminding myself that I’m still improving and learning helps me stay motivated, as it reminds me that even if I’m in a funk currently that I’ll get through it eventually and come out on the other side even better than before :]
I’m so glad this was recommended to me recently. I’ve been getting back into art and had a great idea to draw but I just couldn’t draw it the way I imagined it in my head. It was frustrating and just made me want to give up. Thank you for this ☺️
Blue, thank you so much. You are the nicest person on this earth, and, honestly, I hope all goes well for you and you feel as good about your art as I do! Your art style is super cool, and I wanna be a TH-cam artist like you someday. Thanks for being you 😌
There is no secret to drawing. All you have to do is draw more. Specialise in a certain style and draw. You still need to practice multiple things. You need to practice multiple skill sets and in the end use them in your own art style you specialised in. Get out of your comfort zone and do what's hard. Try and try, channel your anger and annoyance into improving. Only then will you improve. This is not only true for art. This is true for many other things you do in life. This thinking helped me to actually stop my procrastination and simply... draw more.
Thank you for this! Such a comfort to hear your tips and experiences I’ll try not to be such a hater of my own art T^T a drawing is still a drawing and an accomplishment no matter what I think of it in the moment!
Today I was painting with my new acrylic's I got for christmas and I didn't like the painting. My mom saw it and said it was good but I still didn't like it. She later told me that it was possibly because it didn't have life and she said I should add ducks in the pond. I went back to my painting and I realized it wasn't as bad as I originally thought it was! Sometimes we are our biggest critics and you just need to step away for a minute to give yourself a new perspective.
You and your art are so inspiring to me, My own art is like a „hybrid„ style of urs and someone elses. This video is so comforting and motivating for me, no need to feel bad about your art, hope u get better soon ;( Luv from kivi person
Something that really helped me, were my friends! They teached me, they accepted my art, they pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I couldn’t be more grateful c:
I always say this after i finish and see my art. But i'll never give up, i've been drawing for a year now, i've started to stick figures. Now im starting to learn anatomy. There's this feeling inside me that won't let me give up, it's yelling inside saying "If you give up now, you won't see your progress. Stay Determined" hating your art is normal. It is one way or another, but don't let that make you quit.
This was such a helpful video it's soo difficult not to compare yourself to other artists you like then you get lost admiring their work instead of actually drawing, I've lost a couple hour a day falling prey to comparison, but other days their work can be a source of inspiration. I guess it all depend on your mindset
i'm a bit late, but man i can relate with this. Now i'm not good with words (or about anything at all), but please take care of yourself. It's okay to get tired, or burnt out, we all have our limits. It's normal to compare your work with others, but it isn't exactly "healthy". And if you need it, you can take a break, a nice long one. It's normal for people like us to hate our own art, but please know that some people (me included) like _your_ art
my reason was, i wanted to draw for fnu i wanted to be good, but then i saw other artists and that inspired me for a better reason, my reason now is make beautifull art/drawings and inspire other people, but i still have a long way
thank you for this, ive done quite a bit of these for awhile, but this made me feel better after a anxious day. i have extreme perfectionism or ocd inheritable from my own mother among others. it sucks when all you wanna do is have fun and draw, but you hate everything lol.
I’ve been on an art break for half a year to a full year and I’m finally forcing myself to get back into it, and I’m getting better! After I make a mistake I go back and rewatch blue biscuits tutorials and examine what I did wrong and then fix it. It’s really not fun sometimes to give up on an art piece halfway because you feel like it’s bad, but even if it is you gotta keep in mind that every artist started out like this. Try making a goal for yourself and then make it harder once it starts to get easier. Mine for example is to create at least one drawing every two weeks, once I get the hang of it I’ll shorten it down to one week, then two drawings a week, and so on. I believe in every artist here who is struggling! Don’t give up! Things like this take time, so be patient! And most importantly, be positive with yourself! ❤
I feel that pain and yes it is difficult but you just gotta power through it until it gets a little less in your face so to speak. thanks for making this video and i love your style and art!!! nice to see a fellow African creating amazing things.
Actually, when i accepted my mistakes, i saw a lot of improvements just in a short time. I'm currently studying the anatomy that you posted on how to draw a body, and i keep thinking about my goal which always makes motivated.
btw, I really like your art, and you do a really good job with all your drawing tutorials, if you can teach art then I think it's safe to say you're a talented artist (which you are). And even though your videos aren't as high quality as some of the more popular youtubers. I still think they're really good, not to mention if there's something you feel like needs improving in your videos, then you can just work on getting better with that too, just like in art.
This couldn't have come at a better time Blue! I've been dealing with artblock and putting myself down for the past few weeks now and what you said in this video really spoke to me. Thank you for making this video 🧡 I think it will help me a lot!
my only problem is just that i want to be an independent artist in the future and do illustrations and such, but for that to turn into a job i need a following, and people to support what i do. but i can’t seem to get my art to get more engagement, it feels like i’m under a constant shadow ban. i’m getting really worried cuz i think i won’t have a future this way and consequently i just think that my art sucks and nobody would actually engage with it
i've been stuck in a rut for quite a while now. i'm currently taking a little bit of a break from creating for a couple weeks (i don't create as consistently as i'd like to but this break takes away that pressure to do so) and i appreciate hearing your advice. hopefully i can have fun with art again
As an artist who struggles with liking their own art, i can say: IT SUCKS. I'll always feel like i'm always behind everyone, i see their improvement and i can barely get out of my comfort zone while the things i suck at are their comfort zone. Got myself feeling kinda useless sometimes, but then i look back and see the 10 year old me drawing MHA characters in a silly way and then back at the 14 me now and i think " Well, i'm not doing so bad now, that's a lot of improvement already" it feels like taking an elephant from my shoulders. Anyways, your videos are helping a whooole lot! Thank you!!!!
Thanks for the advice I really needed that because I've been blocked for weeks on my art and kept burning myself out alot to just meet high expectations of myself while comparing myself but I appreciate your advice and I'll try step by step from now on
I don't know if you have considered doing that but I think it's a great way to stay motivated. So what you can do is keep your very old drawings and make a collection, then line them together and see the improvement, I think it really help. I'm a pretty new artist and I don't really think I draw good but when I see my old crappy drawings (it's not true, it's a memory) I remember that it's a matter of time and if I continue, I'll get better and better until I reach the level of good artists. Another exemple, I was in a museum one day and there was an artwork of an artist who just started digital, it was a very long and wide painting so when you traveled around you could see that at the beginning of the painting, it wasn't that good, but at the end, it was a masterpiece. All of this motivated me to git gud.
I've never related to an art vid more. Thank you for this! I've always been so bummed out with having no art style that everytime I try to draw I get nowhere and because I'm so focused on getting an art style, I don't improve at ALL. It got so frustrating for me that I've just avoided drawing altogether. I've been trying to find videos of how to get out of that loop and watching yours has made me realize some things and is really helpful. Thank you
I'm late to this but one thing I've found that always motivates me in drawing is looking at my old art and comparing it to now and seeing what I've improved on. Helps me put it into perspective
My whole life, since I was a little kid who couldn’t read or write, I would draw. I loved art with my everything and when I found out I could work with it, it was everything I wanted. Gain honest money through doing what I most loved: art. Then, 2020 and the pandemic came around. That whole thing triggered a lot of negative events in my life. I had to change school, move away from home, lose friends, etc. I even became anxious and depressed (now I’m better). Among other things, it affected my passion for art. I fell into a artblock in the middle of 2020 and had been stuck on that till August 2021. I couldn’t draw for two years. Everytime I tried, I couldn’t do it. Nothing was good enough. I wasn’t good enough. But then, after so long and out of nowhere, I decided to sketch a character from a game I really like. And I loved that sketch. I drew another one, and another, and I kept drawing everyday for the following days a lot of stuff. I finally had that passion burning through my heart again, and now stronger than ever. My mental, physical and spiritual health was better and I finally felt happy again. I was myself again. So, what Iearned with that experience that I’d like to share is: it’s ok to hate your own art. Sometimes it’s just not working out for you and forcing yourself to do something will only make everything worst. Take a deep breath, drink some water and go take a walk or something. Play with your pet if you have one, put on your favorite tunes and dance alone even if you’re a bad dancer, spend time with your family and friends. Be happy and remember that you’re worth that happiness. The artblock might be there for a while, but it will eventually go away. Might stuck for a couple days to even years, it honestly depends on you and if you’re going to let it consume you. You’re good enough. I love you and thank you so much for still being here! Keep going, ok?
Thanks a lot for this video, I am feeling really bad in general right now, and my art just sucks a lot right now haha, this video was such a comfort to me right now and I'm really thankful for this
Im trying to get better at my art currently. at the moment I really hate picking up my sketchbook or picking up a pen because sometimes in the middle of the day I'll get this vision in my head, like I have a while picture of what kind of drawing I'd like too make and I try too draw it and it ends up looking terrible, honestly I'm getting sick of tired of it. I'm thinking of quitting art all at once because my art, I'm just not happy with it at all. And it's not like I get bad feedback or negativity from others because my family and friends from school, they're all so supportive and sweet and always compliment and admire my art but I just really doing like how it looks. I really want to start over from scratch and learn how to draw bodies and stuff like that because currently my I don't even know how to draw hands or feet right, I hate it. I just want to quit. I love art and I always have, but I never knew how draining it could be when I jumped into it. I'm trying to get better and to be less insecure about my art by watching all kinds of tutorials and stuff about how to draw heads and bodies and stuff like that. So far it's not working and I'm losing a lot of my motivation. If anyone has any tips for me at all, it'll be very appreciated. I just need some support. Anyway, thank you so much for listening to my rant. And the j you, bluebiscuits, I love your style and hope to be like you soon.
Pretty much the same situation. I used to be happy while drawing, but I just can't anymore, and because of that my art sucks. I think I'm going to quit as well.
Amo este canal, la estética, el estilo que tienes, la forma tan relajada en que das tu opinión y tiene subtítulos en español, ya que no hay muchos artistas aquí donde hablan español dando su opinión 💕💕💕
I saw a tweet that was like, “we think if we’re good enough, our art won’t look like we made it.” Every time someone doesn’t notice my mistake until I point it out. Whenever I worry something isn’t good and people like it anyway. We really are our own worst critic.
I used to get inspiration from novels, but nowdays I can't bring myself to read (or even listen to audio books) therefore i have no ideas for drawing, and drawing aimlessly is the worst (for me at least) because i hyperfocus on my mistakes. I'm starting to like the exterior and interior of buildings, cars and other things so im trying to improve my perspective drawing skills. The process is slow but im liking tge results ;-;
I'm new to the world of art And making one single mistake made my blood boil... Your video helped out a lot :") Thank yiu so much! I kinda get comfort to know an artist as amazing as you also has times when they don't draw like they like I hope you're doing okay rn!
yeah i am stucked in this kind of feeling from time to time. I hate all my paintings, I couldn't find my own artstyle, or even when I dedicate myself to an art work, just minutes later I find it horrible. yeah And I have searched for many methods when facing art blocks but you know what somehow your video is really inspired, I can feel a bit better now. Thanks
this was really helpful, i've hit a block lately and i've been trying to find ways to get better. especially since i am so close to taking the first step towards becoming a concept artist! i am really stressed about it and its been leaving me feeling like i should give up and choose something easier. but i wont let that happen! i will continue to grow as an artist!
this topic has been on the front of my mind for a while now. i’ve been drawing for almost 7 years now and whenever i look at my art compared to people who have been drawing for half the time i always feel like i should have improved a lot more in my art journey. i know that people improve and learn at different rates but it still doesn’t get rid of that feeling of not doing as well as i should be for how long i’ve been drawing yknow?
I've been kinda hating my drawings lately so I bought watercolor paint and started painting for a few days and also painting digitally and now I feel more motivated to draw. For the past year I've been only drawing so trying an other medium of art kinda feels like a reset. I really love painting and I'm very glad I've decided to go and do something I've never done before
To any fellow artist that stumbles upon this comment... I have another tip to add to this wonderful video! Look at your art now, and look at the art from before (but on that time-line that you think you aren't improving). See what's different from both times (maybe it's anatomy that got better, or the eyes that got more colorful), then proceed to take note of what you don't like on your art (maybe it's the nose, or the whole face, who knows!). From there, you can make a list of things you want to improve, and go back to that beginning stage of drawing the same thing over and over again, trying to find that style you really love. When you complete the list, start mixing up these new elements, experiment with them, and draw a full drawing with this little things you wanted to improve. Compare it to the old versions, and you might now see the improvement you desired! This worked for me, and it is working. An year ago I had a very similar style to the one I have now, and it was really a bummer because I thought I got stuck on the artstyle I have, and that I would never improve past this. But, I noticed that the way I drew eyes didn't change a single bit! I took that, and started experimenting, and still am experimenting, to find another way of making eyes that will please me the most. I also struggle with shading hair, so I am also studying that. Go little by little, change what you don't like, and the results might be amazing!
Even tho I try my best not to I always been the one to compare myself specially with art, i adore so many different artists and you are one of them, however whenever I try to experiment with my own art it really doesn’t take long before I get frustrated and give up, I mean for example I really wanna learn anatomy however every time I decide to learn it I end up getting to annoyed by the mistakes and stuff, and I always try to tell myself I’m learning I need to be patient with my mistakes, but yet it gets more frustrating, I think my biggest problem is I always have some pretty high expectations on my art , so when it doesn’t reach them I get bothered by it and eventually break myself down, and this perfectionist inside of me always make me too frustrated to learn and too bad to draw, I hope some day I can conquer this part of me cuz I really really love art it’s my comfort hobby and I don’t want it to make me feel this way
This video makes me feel better. I just finished practicing digital art minutes ago and I am beginning to feel disappointed because i can't get the hair right and that threw me off and now i feel pressured that the art i made won't be good enough for me to start my art commissions😢
No one has been hitting my work because there simply isn't anyone. I've never been noticed. I'm the only one who's ever tried to evaluate myself. And once I started consciously looking at my favorite artists, I stopped seeing the good in my work. I spent years trying to get better. This led me to.... I can no longer draw beyond sketch + small linework. I don't even get to the point of coloring. In addition to the complete lack of progress, it's like I've been in an art block for a year or more now. I don't understand anything anymore.
im a little burnt out with life right now , sorry about the quality being a little less then usual
Awww, rest lots and take time to love yourself! We are always here for support, and make sure to stay hydrated
Same
Dw! Take some time to rest, we love your videos
I really enjoyed the video! I always enjoy your art I hope you'll will feel better soon :D
It's alright!!
this just hits different tbh, people say take breaks if u don’t feel like drawing but I’ve been on a year break and I can’t bring myself to draw- 😭
pick up a pen rn and cover an entire page with cats. if u don’t, i’ll plant a fursuit somewhere in ur house and make you look responsible for it >:]
@@kh14 BAHAHA this is just malicious
If you don't you won't.
Yeah, I had to take a 2-3 year break before I really got into art again. I felt like I lost a part of myself, but I recently got myself back into art, and I have so much inspiration after that break. It really makes me appreciate drawing, which I had lost after a while.
@@thatonemessyartist1760 how’s your skill level like after the long break? Are there any changes?
Reminder:
Hating your art is alright! That feeling happens one way or another. What isn't alright is that you let the hate take over you. Don't let that happen, you're stronger than you know :)💙
thank you for saying this :)
Thx omg I was in a burnout rn I really needed this advice Tyyyy 😭
it makes me sad how on my ibis paint, theres a gap between my creations. From Untitled5 to Untitled12,
Because that entire gap is filled with deleted drawings
But this doesn't help cuz I'm having full on mental breakdowns cuz of my art
I often get art block that manifests itself as hating my art. Probably from frustration.
Thankfully I started drawing again bit by bit-
Ig my own advice for myself or anybody reading this is to not pressure yourself to improve in just one day- be happy and draw what you like- not what others want to see- but yeah! great video as always TwT I'm glad I found this channel-
ive gone through the exact same, im sorry
but thats very good advice, taking your time to improve will avoid burn out
sometimes it frustrates me when someone who is my age or younger is better at art and also i totally agree
I decided to temporarily disabled my Instagram account because of these pressures I'm having :(
I saw that in mine too and rn I'm just focusing on one thing and that's portraits, facial features.lm starting with the nose because it's hard
I just think ‘’if you a year ago saw yourself making this how would you feel?’’ The answer is proud and happy but my standards are getting higher and higher so it doesn't always work
Still keeps me motivated
okay this is a late reply but omg this actually helps so much!! ty!
@@tornin3686 I'm glad it helps ^^
This is also a late reply but wow this helps ALOT I wasn’t even drawing a year ago and it just makes me feel better knowing I have improved!
Your profile picture is so cute
I just hate the way I draw faces, that’s it other people have incredible artstyles but I’m trash at drawing eyes and mouths and they always come out ugly
It's so true! I'm having an art block rn and it's so hard to get through sometimes. It does make me feel better that I'm not the only one who goes through this kind of stuff. Being an artist is never easy lol
Agreed a thing I noticed to get out of art block is drawing smth you feel proud of. It helped me and it works all the time. The problem is you don’t know what you wanna draw that you’ll be proud of or if you have the mentality it’ll suck
I agree, I'm in an art block and it really sucks because I try and try and I'm just not happy with my art atm
Surprisingly I've never had artblock
Art block is the worst! I just made my first video in months...
If I may ask..what is an art block, ._. Sorry if that offense in any way-
Just remember even though you might hate your art, somewhere out there it's inspiring hundreds more.
😭 that touched me
Well actually no
what if you don't share it with the world
@@kakyoin7248 that's exactly what i am doing
My twit acc is dead asf barely anyone sees it 😭
Another point that I often tell my friends: Only you know what you wanted your piece to look like.
Lol this gave, I'm sorry for the peasants who can't be as good as a young talented prodigy like me 💁♀️✨
Edit: NO HATE LMAO

This was really comforting and useful! I hope you feel better soon Blue, and know that you're a huge inspiration to loads of people, including me! I learned so much from you

Guys holy shit. I’ve hit a milestone. I just saw the title of this video and thought “Eh, I don’t hate my art” for the first time ever. Let’s gOOOO
HECK YEAH
YESS!!!
Watching this while crying because I can’t draw simple things normally and can’t do anything right in this life-
Good video
Same. How are you doing rn? Hope you have grown out of this phase
Your tutorials are really good and you're a inspiration to me!
awwwwwww my heart
im so glad
i’m 15 (almost 16) a few years ago i got really into art but after a few months i stopped. and now, at the beginning of 2022, i decided to try and become a better artist and actually improve my art. it’s now been about 7 months of drawing (2 of those being inconsistent) i feel guilty every time i take breaks. i have a tendency to become obsessed with certain things and then moving on after awhile so every time i take a break i feel like i’m slowly falling into the pit of giving up and moving onto something new. looking at artwork lights a fire in me, and it hurts because there are artists that make such beautiful art while my art can’t come close to looking as amazing as theirs. i wanna get better but i’m afraid of failing. and now i think i wanna pursue a career in art so i feel like if i don’t improve soon i might not be able to.
THE HALF TURNED FACES TO THE LEFT WAS THE BIGGEST CALL OUT. ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE WATCHING ME?!
I'm from Brazil so... sorry for my english but since i started watching your videos my digital arts have started to get a lot better! I've been a "paper classic" designer for 14 years, but digital art everything feels so new to me so you've been helping me a lot!!!!! Thank you very much, I love your art.
Just wanted to point out that you don't even need to apologize, your english is perfectly understandable.
@@davidtorazzi7650 thank you so much!! good to know! Really, thank you
I've been working to improve my art some recently (I've been trying out making multiple styles for myself, and its going relatively well, thankfully) and I find your art to be really inspiring!
Side Note: You mentioned you weren't feeling the best for this video, but I hope you can at least take this comment as some positivity if you need it~
i was like
"oh this is nice it could help-"
*self esteem in my own art absolutely destroyed from the godly pieces on the screen when showing examples*
Exactly.
Like, thanks for making me feel even worse about my art than I already was..
I wish I had this video a few years ago when I hated my art so much to the point i started hating drawing TwT
Just recently (recently meaning like, a year ago) I got back into the groove when I met a lot of new people (some of them are artists too) who have motivated me and have given me a new way to look at my art - they would point out things about it, small things which I didn't think were that special and they have made me love those tiny details in my drawings.
"Don't compare yourself" literally every human being's speech that knows about my art blocks, and thank you for that
ive been drawing for 7 years already, but in the recent years, I've notice that my art quality has started to decline, I'm getting burnt out so much more easily, and I'm ALWAYS afraid to step out of my comfort zone - yknow, hands in pockets, that mona lisa angle, hair over one eye and stuff. i was really tired of hating my art and everything i made, but then i came across your channel and this video. i truly want to say, thank you so so much for helping me get back on my feet with your videos, and your tutorials have helped me so much instead of me just lying around in bed being upset over my drawings. after this, I'm deciding to pick myself up and start fresh with a completely new page, maybe ill expand on Instagram, and other platforms - who knows? but you've truly helped me, and i believe many others so much, and i hope that you will one day also achieve your dreams!
FIRST! I LOVE UR ART SO MUCH CONTINUE LIKE THIS
its just feels like I will never reach that level of prettinest yk
You are also the one who helped me discover Clip Studio and its now been my main program for idk how long. your style and editing is so calming and cool yet it still has that emotion behind it
Started using a more “painterly” style after watching you and I’m loving it 🥰.
Such a comfort to hear your tips and experiences I’ll try not to be such a hater of my own art T^T a drawing is still a drawing and an accomplishment no matter what I think of it in the moment!
you are now my comfort TH-camr this helped me a lot thank you
Today I was painting with my new acrylic's I got for christmas and I didn't like the painting.
This video is so comforting and motivating for me, no need to feel bad about your art, hope u get better soon ;( Luv from kivi person
i’ve always wanted to be an artist as my job, but i sometimes feel like my art wouldnt be good enough. thank you for uploading this, blue
Something that really helped me, were my friends! They teached me, they accepted my art, they pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I couldn’t be more grateful c:
i cant even express how much this video helped me
I always say this after i finish and see my art.
This is so comforting to hear, I've been on a break since covid started. It's so frustrating.
Let me just say it, art is freaking hard!
Too hard😑😭
Thanks for stating the obvious?
This was such a helpful video it's soo difficult not to compare yourself to other artists you like then you get lost admiring their work instead of actually drawing, I've lost a couple hour a day falling prey to comparison, but other days their work can be a source of inspiration. I guess it all depend on your mindset
The words have been said a thousand times, but it’s nice to hear about it almost every time. Thank you. It helps
and every time my heart squeezes ;;
i'm a bit late, but man i can relate with this.
I'm currently studying the anatomy that you posted on how to draw a body, and i keep thinking about my goal which always makes motivated.
im struggling the same way, and i also find putting goals helps push me
btw, I really like your art, and you do a really good job with all your drawing tutorials, if you can teach art then I think it's safe to say you're a talented artist (which you are). And even though your videos aren't as high quality as some of the more popular youtubers. I still think they're really good, not to mention if there's something you feel like needs improving in your videos, then you can just work on getting better with that too, just like in art.
Im so glad I saw this video because recently I have been hating what I have been drawing and searching for videos to help me like my art
this was geniunley encouraging, hearing the "try different artstyles" advice actaully dramatically changed my view on how I should practice art.
This couldn't have come at a better time Blue! I've been dealing with artblock and putting myself down for the past few weeks now and what you said in this video really spoke to me. Thank you for making this video 🧡 I think it will help me a lot!
BEST TIMING EVER OMG TY
my only problem is just that i want to be an independent artist in the future and do illustrations and such, but for that to turn into a job i need a following, and people to support what i do. but i can’t seem to get my art to get more engagement, it feels like i’m under a constant shadow ban. i’m getting really worried cuz i think i won’t have a future this way and consequently i just think that my art sucks and nobody would actually engage with it
i've been stuck in a rut for quite a while now. i'm currently taking a little bit of a break from creating for a couple weeks (i don't create as consistently as i'd like to but this break takes away that pressure to do so) and i appreciate hearing your advice. hopefully i can have fun with art again
Thanks for the advice I really needed that because I've been blocked for weeks on my art and kept burning myself out alot to just meet high expectations of myself while comparing myself but I appreciate your advice and I'll try step by step from now on
Most of the time i don't like my own work because i am a bad artist rn and i want to improve, but i hope if i improve i will start to like my art.
I love all the drawings in this video especially the one that said "there are other angles" XD
Thank you
I always learn a new skill with drawing and get really proud of it, and then I'm like, "Man... this is trash"
this is so true
I’m definitely a little late, but just do a Sitcom and go “well atleast its not trash- *ER!”*
There is no reason to do something you don't enjoy. Maybe after quitting you'll find that you are good at something else.
thank you :) sometimes i feel like this , whenever i feel likem this i will try going out of my comfort zone and try new things.
Idk but bro your voice gives me motivation to draw im really grateful that i found your channel 😭
I used to get inspiration from novels, but nowdays I can't bring myself to read (or even listen to audio books) therefore i have no ideas for drawing, and drawing aimlessly is the worst (for me at least) because i hyperfocus on my mistakes.
I'm starting to like the exterior and interior of buildings, cars and other things so im trying to improve my perspective drawing skills. The process is slow but im liking tge results ;-;
I'm new to the world of art
And making one single mistake made my blood boil...
Your video helped out a lot :")
Thank yiu so much! I kinda get comfort to know an artist as amazing as you also has times when they don't draw like they like
I hope you're doing okay rn!

yeah i am stucked in this kind of feeling from time to time. I hate all my paintings, I couldn't find my own artstyle, or even when I dedicate myself to an art work, just minutes later I find it horrible. yeah And I have searched for many methods when facing art blocks but you know what somehow your video is really inspired, I can feel a bit better now. Thanks
this was really helpful, i've hit a block lately and i've been trying to find ways to get better. especially since i am so close to taking the first step towards becoming a concept artist! i am really stressed about it and its been leaving me feeling like i should give up and choose something easier. but i wont let that happen! i will continue to grow as an artist!
so random but i love love love when people i look up to are from where i am! kinda gives it a level of relatability
this topic has been on the front of my mind for a while now. i’ve been drawing for almost 7 years now and whenever i look at my art compared to people who have been drawing for half the time i always feel like i should have improved a lot more in my art journey. i know that people improve and learn at different rates but it still doesn’t get rid of that feeling of not doing as well as i should be for how long i’ve been drawing yknow?
I have ADHD and I have trouble focusing and I can never find the motivation to do it and get frustrated when I can’t notice any progress with my art 😢
Bro I love your style it’s so cute-
Even tho I try my best not to I always been the one to compare myself specially with art, i adore so many different artists and you are one of them, however whenever I try to experiment with my own art it really doesn’t take long before I get frustrated and give up, I mean for example I really wanna learn anatomy however every time I decide to learn it I end up getting to annoyed by the mistakes and stuff, and I always try to tell myself I’m learning I need to be patient with my mistakes, but yet it gets more frustrating, I think my biggest problem is I always have some pretty high expectations on my art , so when it doesn’t reach them I get bothered by it and eventually break myself down, and this perfectionist inside of me always make me too frustrated to learn and too bad to draw, I hope some day I can conquer this part of me cuz I really really love art it’s my comfort hobby and I don’t want it to make me feel this way
Thank you soo much random person on the internet, you seriously, seriously helped me a LOT! Thanks to you I can start drawing again!!!~
My morale was shattered even more when I saw the godly art on screen 😭 why am I like this

This video makes me feel better. I just finished practicing digital art minutes ago and I am beginning to feel disappointed because i can't get the hair right and that threw me off and now i feel pressured that the art i made won't be good enough for me to start my art commissions😢
dont be stressed we love your art
dint realise u replyed to this UWU
No one has been hitting my work because there simply isn't anyone. I've never been noticed. I'm the only one who's ever tried to evaluate myself. And once I started consciously looking at my favorite artists, I stopped seeing the good in my work. I spent years trying to get better. This led me to.... I can no longer draw beyond sketch + small linework. I don't even get to the point of coloring. In addition to the complete lack of progress, it's like I've been in an art block for a year or more now. I don't understand anything anymore.
When I see my old art that's the only time I think why it sucks✋💀
