  • @ValorConsulting1

    I see it differently,
    If you are truly honest with yourself about what you want, it will be something "realistic" for you.
    Furthermore, unless you allow yourself to dream big, how will you ever know what is realistic for you? The thing is, what is possible for us is generally something much bigger than we are currently living.
    Dream big. Play with that dream, tweak it, until it feels just right. It must be your dream, not someone else's. Then go for it and don't let anyone stop you.

    This sounds good but the entire process depends on the individual having well developed reasoning, decision making, and objective analysis skills. If the individual lacks any of these then the entire process/formula falls apart.

    Harnessing the power of adult ADHA. The sound effects are cute. I wonder if she's a little sloshed...
    Weather reports save lives where I'm from... they give flood victims time to prepare and people in the paths of tornadoes time to get underground...

    • @grapecanz
      @grapecanz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      She's not saying weather reporting itself is bad, she's saying the brat and chicken are barriers to change in your life.
      She in fact says that you should do your own weather reporting, since it's useful to know about yourself and why you do what you do; knowing the weather doesn't stop you from doing things, it just lets you know when you need to get a raincoat.

    TEDxWomen ?!? Really ?
    Imagine how ridiculous a title like TEDxMen would be.
    That's exactly how ridiculous this one sounds to me.

    • @untitlednewuser
      @untitlednewuser 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Do you really think you are teaching me anything new ? Yes women have it harder sometimes. Men too. They are for instance 20 times more "luckily" to die or get badly injured at work then women. So should we do a TEDxMen for that ?
      TED should be for everyone and concern everyone, don't you agree ?
      Oh and... Wake up girl ;P

    • @untitlednewuser
      @untitlednewuser 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Don't you think it is somehow pretentious of you to say all these things about me without knowing me at all. You don't know my age, nationality, religion or anything that could make me part of a minority. Yet you seem to be sure I am blind and ignorant.
      Is that your way of thinking dealing with controversy ? I don't see any valid argument in your posts. Just overused slogans.

    • @untitlednewuser
      @untitlednewuser 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am an egalitarian and therefor criticize feminism for its double standards. You have to admit this is not anti-women.
      We could have a discussion about feminism being the answer to gender discrimination, but you don't seem to stand controversy. And why are you so agressive with me ? Do you fear what I have to say ?

    Marriage is still a scary thought. A lot of the women that I sleep have had husbands. I am sure other my girl friends have slept with other dudes as well. Plus its fun to have sex with different women. What's the point in getting married when you look at the reality of it? I am a man and it also seems like I enjoy being single more than I like having a "steady" relationship. I think a lot of women like being single as well. It's less stress more freedom for both sexes. We don't have to worry about cheating.

  • @Jamesharris144

    Don't be condescending.
    I just wanted to watch a TedX video, not be talked down to...
    Maybe it's because this was for women, but that shouldn't be an issue.
    Calling your audience chickens, brats, and 'weather reporters' isn't a good policy for public speaking.
    I realize that this is somewhat of a self improvement talk, but still...
    I feel like she's talking down to me.

    • @Jamesharris144
      @Jamesharris144 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were some good points, but the way in which those points were addressed was very disconcerting.

    • @MsGnor

      Jamesharris144 I did find Lauren very funny - I lolled a few times - but I totally see your point. Can you imagine empowering your family and friends to keep tabs on your every commitment in life. Talk about HAUNTING!! I think I'll keep my pathetic yet perfectly uninvaded life as it is thanks.

      I think she took a 'in your face' 'hard edge' 'condescending' voice in order to be abbrasive enough to shake people up. All too often self-help talks are all cuddly and make you feel great for all of an hour and then they're forgotten. This one is supposed to make you NOT feel great during with the intent that you'll be fueled to actually make changes.
