That was my first car with the V6, ended up sitting for months because I didn’t want to insure it at those rates and started riding a bike, started right the f up when I went to sell it, incredible. I don’t remember the mileage but it was at least 100k considering the age

@@michellewatts7208 Important to do oil changes on time as well as checking oil level monthly. Not to mention transmission fluid, and change that out around every 60k miles or your transmission could go up. Check all fluid levels, helps to catch a leak early, gaskets and seals can wear out over time. I have seen toyotas over 800k miles on them and a Honda with 999,999k miles on the odometer (97 cr-v). Take care of your car, it takes care of you. Enjoy your toYODA
2011 Honda Accord here, 2.4 L engine, 5 Speed Manual transmission and best car I have ever had. Currently has 177,000 miles on it and I think it may outlast me as Im only putting about 10,000 miles a year. Like you said, routine maintenance is all it needs.
I've got 2009 Accord coupe V6 (so we're same gen, 2008-2012 8th/8.5 gen) ...149k miles...runs like a clock. Like you said, just basic fluid maintenance. Agree, my favorite car ever, I wouldnt trade it for any car under about $75k. I've done a few aftermarket mods. Had to pay about $20k out of pocket for body shop work after 2 accidents but its back to good now and thats how much it means to me. I've invested a lot of money in this car. I plan to keep it for 10-15 more years at least. I'm going to get it completely re-painted in the next year or 2.
I bought a 2006 Toyota Highlander (Kluger ) in Australia very low mileage, great condition in 2019 on your recommendation. Best car i ever owned. Now at 320000kms. Still the best.
In America the philosophy is "if it breaks, throw it away", Whereas in Japan; Kaizen is a Japanese business philosophy that focuses on gradually improving productivity and making a work environment more efficient.
@BradSavoie46 bad news for those ceos is that growing up i saw 5 year old American cars ready to be junked, but Japanese cars that kept going. wont be buying American. ever.
Great dude 😊..u will never go wrong with Toyota Corolla I can bet my life on that. Here in Botswana 🇧🇼, that's the most car owned since the 90s.Hilux is second. And my folks have 4 Toyotas currently😅.
Best car I've owned so far was a 90 Lexus LS400. It had 300,000 plus miles (w/scheduled maintenance) before anything major went out that needed attention from a mechanic.
I just don’t know what to buy anymore. This is a tough choice Honda & Toyota? I guess I’ll just stick to my 2001 Toyota sienna xle for now cause it 237000 miles on it and still runs like a dream.
Any honda or toyota that doesn't have turbos or GDI is a good choice honestly as long as it's been maintained. My experience is that the toyotas seem slightly higher quality but the Hondas are more sporty/fun to drive.
I had a '92 Camry for 22 years. It started to rust around the wheel wells but still ran great. Might have gone much longer but a school bus ran into it!
2009 Camry Hybrid 210K (with Scotty's oil burner 2.4L engine) is the most reliable car I have ever owned. 38 MPG City/42 MPG Highway. Original Hybrid traction battery is still measuring 60% useful life, 15 years later. The engine does burn 1 quart after 4K miles, due to its age I have stepped up the oil change interval to every 4K miles.
The Camry has real gauges for the tachometer and speedometer too, which is a plus for me. I don’t know about you guys but I can’t stand having a screen with slow refreshing numbers for the speedometer.
I got about 600,000 miles on my 1985 f150 with the straight 6. Just normal wear and tear like brakes and shocks. Worst thing I needed to change was a rear main seal
If that's the 300 six cylinder they are an awesome engine. I had a 1070 GMC 292 years ago that I put in my 79 Chevy truck and it was a runner and a half. Those were the two best 6 cylinders ever made. I had 240, 000 on it. I bought the motor when it had 19,000 miles on it from a wrecked truck.
I agree about the red Miata color. They use that color on CX3, CX5 etc. It's the most gorgeous red I've ever seen. It looks amazing in the sun especially.
My Camry may be boring, but I like boring for my daily. Never have to worry about it and only need routine maintenance. Going from a shitbox that is the PT Cruiser to the Camry is like going from a 50 cent whore to a playboy model.
@@austincolt1955 Yes they are great! They're the kind of car where if you take care of it and do regular oil changes etc it will take care of you. No crazy flaws or issues to worry about.
All manufacturers should've kept a manual transmission option period. Six speeds for cars and seven speeds for trucks (granny gear/compound low first and a good OD ).
While I wish there were more manual transmissions offered, it isn't realistic for companies to offer them in all models. The sales numbers don't lie. Americans would not buy them for family haulers like SUV's and minivans. That makes up a huge percentage of the cars sold here.
In the market for a new (used) car for the wife and Scotty's videos have really helped. Really have it down to a Civic or Camry. The Accord Hybrid (2023+) is what I really want, but it is priced out of reach. All the other Accords are 1.5L Turbos and having owned a turbo in the past, I do not want one going forward. That said, my personal car is a 2012 VW Passat. I know VW gets a bad rap in terms of reliability, but that car with an inline 5-cylinder (yes, you read that right, 5-cylinder) engine is just rock solid. No engine issues (knock on wood), smooth, quiet, extremely comfortable ride. Only oil and fluid and other routine maintenance like cabin air filter. If you can find a 2012 or 2013 VW Passat with the inline 5, you will not question your purchase. Not going to knock your socks off with acceleration, but with left hand turns, you don't get that heart-stopping pause that you get with turbos. Great gas mileage for a pretty heavy car especially on the highway. Oh yeah, did I say the ride is smooth and quiet?
I just took a pic of my odometer as it turned to 222222 on my 2003 Honda Odyssey. As the second owner, I've taken just as good care as the first owner and she's in amazing condition. When I was looking for that year of Honda Odyssey, I made sure that I waited to get one where I knew the transmission was good. The first owner put in a brand new transmission 15,000 miles before I bought her, and it's perfect.
@@kyleoden3015 Yes, I just replaced mine. Hopefully it will last longer than me. Like my dad always told me, "It's cheaper to fix them than to buy a new one."
I have a 2011 Accord. Some lady sideswiped me and I need Passenger side rear quarter panel, rear door, passenger door, and fender replaced. $4200 for all the damage which insurance said they will cover. The parts together are maybe $1000. Labor is 3/4 of the price. One more reason to buy a huge selling Japanese car. If I had a Mercedes, the parts would easily be closer to $10k-$15k.
I've had 2 MB's, both maintained flawlessly and both were unreliable. Switched to Lexus and will never go back to any German product. IMO they are all junk. Good bodies but it ends there. Look at Germany and the German economy and be glad if you live in the USA.
I had a 1982 Honda Accord. Ran like a Swiss watch every second ever, endlessly, got 37mpg. Stick shift. The feel and handling was heavenly. Super nice ambiance in the cabin.
1996 Honda Accord Wagon 4 cylinder, 5 speed MANUAL transmission. Love it for groceries. 237,000 miles so far... Also have a 2003 Camry 4 cylinder Automatic that I use to go to work every day. 200,000 miles so far...
Lincoln Town Cars last hundreds of thousand miles, are luxurious, big and very inexpensive as a used car. I rarely have/had problems with my various Town Cars over the past 30 years.
I use the trunk pass-through for my fishing poles believe it or not. 2007 5MT Accord SE 286k miles, all by me… only had to replace rotors, starter motor and O2 sensors once. Hell I got 9 years out of the dang battery! The headliner just gave out but that’s probably because it’s never been garaged. Does have the dreaded Honda rear wheel well rust issue… I didn’t know about that until it was too late, but everything else still runs like a dream )
1998 Accord LX here. 127K miles. A lot went wrong after garage-kept for 5 years, put $5K into it. Not much left to replace, idles low, no mechanic can find the issue, never stalls though... trying to keep her going. 26 years old!
The same goes for Mazda. Mazda engineers and assembles their cars in Japan, along with their engines and transmissions. I just bought a 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback and I absolutely love it. Quality car, and no cvt transmission(it's a 6 speed conventional transmission with gears).
I had a 04" honda accord coupe the worst car i ever had transmission went around 130k and the motor went out around 150k miles and i got rid of it got a 99 camry with 34k mile not one problem iit now has over 150k miles sill running like a champ best car i ever had i kn people love hondas but im taking a toyota every time
180k was about the tops for that transmission. Many warranties were issued to get those cars off the used lots. Eventually the car dealers paid so much in warranty work on those transmission they sold as is. The Honda Odyssey of that era also had huge transmission issues.
I am a loyal Toyota driver. Bought the first one in 1971. Brand new Corolla. Cost $2,450.00!! Had a 1980 Toyota pickup for 18 years. Was still running when I sold it. I have never owned a Honda car or truck. However. I have put a quarter of a million miles on just two Honda GL1800 Goldwing motorcycles. Sold the first one and bought the second one just because I just plain got tired of riding it! 😂😂
When it comes to you daily driver, the car you use just to go to and from work or whatever, you want the most boring car with the most boring engine that they offer in that car. Use the Mustang or Corvette for the weekend. And I've brought it up before and I'll do it again but another car that could make this list is the Crown Vic. Those frames are rock solid and when the transmission goes just get a reman put in it and drive it another 250,000+ miles.
I had a 2003 Silverado , I drove it for 230000 miles with 00 repairs only oil changes, and rear brakes just once, to bad Michigan rust depreciation the body, trade it in for a 2011 Silverado and the same thing. 160000 miles on it now and I’m keeping it hopefully 300000 .
I'm not sure why Scotty always trashes CVTs. I used to own a 2007 Dodge Caliber with the 2.0L 4 and a CVT. The engine and transaxle never gave me any problems and ran beautifully, including when I added the last 41k miles to the odometer during 13 months of driving semi full time with Uber and Lyft.
Afyer crashing into another deer , it totalled my 2015 kia optima ( engine burned 1q of oil every 900 miles ) I'm happy 6 hours after the crash I found a manual 2004 honda accord , my dream beater car . Easy maintenance and fun to drive !
Was very pleased driving my old 02 Honda sedan for a while. Now driving a 09 Outback . I Never mind having my repairs now and then when I paid 4-5k for the purchase. And I rent a new vehicle for special occasions and road trips. Really really prefer to put that extra $$ in my 401K and house improvements instead of an insane monthly car payment.
Subaru Legacy, I sold my last one on 350K miles with only one problem I had. Oil licking from crankshaft seal, and changed it at 300K miles. Great car and very easy to work on it.
That Mazda is sweet! I have a 2007 Saturn Sky. I bought her from a friend with 91K on her. It is just for fun but, I have never had an issue with it and it is SO awesome to drive through the Twisties here in the Ozarks. That little 2.4 was taken well care of and my mechanic is really impressed with the roadster. GM REALLY knows how to mess up a good thing. Anyway, I love your videos.Keep up the good work Brother. Rev
You'd think I just caught the game-winning TD in the Super Bowl the way I just celebrated! 3:58 I sat in 4 cars (no test drives until I purchased) - Used Accord/Camry, new Mazda3/Civic. 4 days ago I bought a 2020 Honda Accord I4 w/70K miles. Just missed you in Houston Scotty (you moved just after I found your channel) but MANY MANY thanks brother (ex-Army vet here)!
I just bought a 2011 TSX to be my daily beater with 163400 miles with a K24 which is the same as that Honda Accord that was shown in this video. Hope it lasts me a long time! I’m sure it will because an Acura TSX is basically an international Honda Accord.😊
1998 Lexus ES300 w 315K. Spent less than 1000 dollars in oil changes and maintenance over the 4 years I’ve owned it. These cars are a hidden gem. So blessed with my machine!
I own a 2000 Accord that has been a reliable daily driver. I love this car it's been a nothing but reliable for 2 and a half decades can't wait till 2025 and I can finally register it as a classic car in my state and get permanent plates and can forgo the fees assigned to a normal car. I just bought an F23A1 JDM engine to swap in, as I made an oopsie and overheated it and lifted the head gasket. I'm also a mechanic but don't have the years in you do, your channel has been such a source of knowledge for me. I'm very into hands on learning, but to have a point of reference to back up my diagnosis is key. I'm a streetsweeper mechanic, I went to my local community college for training, but in my profession you also have to be welder and fabricator as parts for some trucks in service, the companies that made these sweepers no longer exist. I bought an MX 900 Autel scan tool through your link and my job is so much easier now, thank you Scotty! If your into cars buy a good scan tool it will save you so much headache.
My 2001 LX with almost 340k still runs very well. As with my last 1988 Accord, the body is going but yearly rust proofing really slows that down. I'll probably never own anything else.
If the trip counter is right, I tend to get somewhere between 36-40 mpg on back roads, 32-34 city and 34-36 highway in my honda Accord sport. Going on 6 years now and she still feels like new! I'm very happy with it
I have had 3 Toyota Avalon's from 98 to 01 and they have all had high mileage on them 200,000+ and lasted a long time with minor repairs. I definitely don't mind having another one. The 1MZ-FE engine was awesome. Those year models didn't have much transmission hunting issues. ❤
I’ve never had an issue with sunroofs with my Hondas or any other car from the 2000s on. It’s different if you don’t have access to a garage or live in states that have extreme weather.
My daughter has a 2004 Honda Accord Ex ..about 250k it burns a quart of oil often. I'll check it every couple of days. Trying to see just how much more it'll go ..
I bought '07 CR-V & '09 Accord 7 years ago, 265K milles on CR-V & 186K Milles on Accord, nothing but Regular Maintenance, Most Reliable Rides i ever had!
I have 2 Toyota Matrix's..an 06 and an 07 both close to 300k miles on them and run and drive just fine.. Minimal normal maintenance... I won't touch any new cars at all...
I currently drive a 2017 Nissan Altima SV with 26k mi. It's been a great run around car. It will get 52+mpg @70mph with premium non-ethanol gas. I discovered that when I was working on my boat and needed to drain its fuel tank to repair. I used up 85 gallons over the summer!
The test drive trips are the absolute best i used to play music and drive around hours just for the feeling life's happening right now haha but when you drive it's like we're all a part of it
Toyota Corolla 2011 here , regular maintenance , recently an alternator and battery nothing too bad , 268.900 miles , ( knock on wood too ) keeps running like a rocket , lots of Uber in the past ( 3 years or so ) What else can you ask for ?
When my wife and I were dating she had a 96 Accord EX v6. Yes when it had 40k miles it would do 140mph. But with 170K miles it would only do 125mph. My wife is from MT and everyone who lives in Montana knows what a Montana car is like. I nicknamed her Accord, Shake, Rattle and Roll. It was a GREAT car. She slipped into a ditch with her mom and she screamed, What do I do? Her mom yelled back, Give her hell and get us outta the ditch. My wife Floored that Honda and yes they got out of the ditch. All of you Montanans know exactly what I’m talking about 🤣
What year Camry is the best. I have a 2006 4 cylinder that has almost 300,000 miles, I change oil every 3,000 miles on it. How many more miles can expect. I upkeep the maintenance.
What about years? My 2020 Camry SE only has 40k miles and drives great and is like new. When do they start wearing out because of age and expense of just stuff under the hood getting old?
Have a 2003 v6 6 speed accord with 180000 kms for 22 years love it drives like brand new still, spent repairs on brakes and tires thats it oh yeah also have 1991 accord for 20 years drives perfect
Baby Daughter 09 Honda accord 280,000 miles still rolling like a champ. Other daughter 08 210 no prob I have 14 Acura which is by Honda 160 best cars ever Honda family.
My 2016 Camry that I just purchased does not hunt for gears my 2021 Hyundai Sonata did I never really like that car to be honest with you, I think there was a lot going wrong with that vehicle. I will never own another Hyundai product again. also my 2016 Camry SE 2.5l has a sunroof. I’ll never use it. I opened it up for the first time the other day and I closed it to be honest with you. I forget I even have it because my 2021 Sonata that I had for the past two years did not have that. and also my 2.5l Camry squeals the tires at least 2016 again with traction control on I love it
You know what? You’re pretty much the ultimate authority on cars and trucks. Many people disagree with you but there’s no substitute for time and real world experience. Thanks, Scotty. Wish our government reps had as much sense as you. The state of our country is so screwed up. Common sense lacks…

In America the philosophy is "if it breaks, throw it away", Whereas in Japan; Kaizen is a Japanese business philosophy that focuses on gradually improving productivity and making a work environment more efficient.
And what is sad is that Americans taught them that philosophy after WWII.
@@ErichH68Now capitalism has CEO's thinking "if it lasts a long time it will prevent them from buying new ones."
🤦♂️😡
Japan has the same philosophy, but for their workers 😂

@BradSavoie46 bad news for those ceos is that growing up i saw 5 year old American cars ready to be junked, but Japanese cars that kept going. wont be buying American. ever.
Love my 2003 Corolla with 297k miles. I've been doing my own maintenance and it's been as reliable as can be!😊
Great dude 😊..u will never go wrong with Toyota Corolla I can bet my life on that.
Here in Botswana 🇧🇼, that's the most car owned since the 90s.Hilux is second. And my folks have 4 Toyotas currently😅.
Best car I've owned so far was a 90 Lexus LS400. It had 300,000 plus miles (w/scheduled maintenance) before anything major went out that needed attention from a mechanic.
ok
26 yrs. with my '98 and hope never to replace it. Needed a mechanic for only 2 things: Timing belt replacement and replacing leaking camshaft phaser.
I have two 2010 RAV4s both over 200,000 miles. Both run like new.
I just don’t know what to buy anymore. This is a tough choice Honda & Toyota? I guess I’ll just stick to my 2001 Toyota sienna xle for now cause it 237000 miles on it and still runs like a dream.
Great choice!
Any honda or toyota that doesn't have turbos or GDI is a good choice honestly as long as it's been maintained. My experience is that the toyotas seem slightly higher quality but the Hondas are more sporty/fun to drive.
I'll stick with a Toyota.
Had a Sienna. Very nice ride. Now addicted to the Accords. Nothing else for me from now on!
2000 Toyota Sienna with 412,000 miles got it at 300,000 miles only car I ever had no major problems and planning keeping it to 500, 0000
I had a '92 Camry for 22 years.

But you won't hear Scotty mention that... heaven forbid he should mention domestic cars that last a long time
They don’t anymore
@@scsi_joe Everyone knows the old F150s are great.
If that's the 300 six cylinder they are an awesome engine. I had a 1070 GMC 292 years ago that I put in my 79 Chevy truck and it was a runner and a half. Those were the two best 6 cylinders ever made. I had 240, 000 on it. I bought the motor when it had

Why is your Camry boring?

With manual you drive the car.
Automatic and you steer it.
Tesla you just pray.
I bought a Miata exactly like yours 4 months ago. Love it so much! Lots of compliments about the color.

How many miles do you have in it?
I've had 2 MB's, both maintained flawlessly and both were unreliable. Switched to Lexus and will never go back to any German product. IMO they are all junk. Good bodies but it ends there. Look at Germany and the German economy and be glad if you live in the USA.
