Just curious, but how much range do you have towing something like a boat? My biggest concern so far is only being able to tow for a couple hours then having to stop and charge for 45 minutes ha.
@@1190CB Haven't paid attention to it yet, the lake is only 21 miles from home so the range isn't a concern for the trip. The boat mostly lives at the lake during the summer so I'm usually only dropping it in the water, and taking it out rather than towing it round trip from home several times a week. What I've seen from others is a 40-60% range drop depending on the trailer. I've seen others tow long distances but I really wouldn't want to do it often until there are more chargers and one's set up to accommodate a trailer without unhitching.
@@1190CB He's right about the charge drop with towing. My brother has one, while awesome and a great piece for future EV, the 400 mile trip towing a 5000lb trailer was less than great. We had to plan out a route that had chargers, almost every 80 miles it seemed we had to go pull in somewhere. Unfortunately, I'm not very tech savvy, so we never recorded the trip. But a paper trail has at least been started to document any decline in performance when towing. Use to having a little gas hog, but this trip was painful time wise. If/when the power grid catches up and these can be charged quicker, EV will be a great choice, but until then, I'd have to stick with the fossil fuel.
Fun comparison! I picked the Rivian R1T in October of 2019 and it's due by the end of May [yes - May, 2022]. Had the chance to test drive one several weeks ago and also have the R1S [SUV] on order. The future is here!
There are already 2 Rivians in my neighborhood. One in white and the other in green. They are the head turners-so futuristic, clean&lean, and yet cute.
if i had to pick i would pick raptor just because its more purpose build and that onboard power.Cleetus McFarland recently gave up on his diehard love of RAMs and got the raptor. Ot recently saved his but when he was hosting clutch kickers at the freedom factory and the pumps there were keeping up.He pulled out the raptor and was able to plug in and pump put the excess water. BUT in reality i would buy a 30k v8 coyote f150. SLAP SOME FUEL BOOST AND SOME STREET SUSPENSION OR OFFROAD (DEPENDING WHAT YOU ARE INTO.) AND YOU SMOKE TRX RUNNING 8S AND 9S IN THE 1/4 MILE PLUS YOU WILL HAVE LESS INTO IT THAN THESE TRUCKS MAKING UP TO 1200WHP OR A RELIABLE 950WHP . YOU CAN DO THAT FOR AROUND 60K IMCLUDING MODS AND TRUCK.
So…. The TRX and R1T drove down glorified dirt roads that a RAV-4 would navigate with ease and the Raptor was the only one shown on the whoops and doing anything remotely “off-roady” and I think that tells us all we need to know.
Raptor owner here with an order placed for a Rivian. The Raptor was a great truck, 0 issues in 4 years of ownership but I'm just not buying another $80k+ daily driver that is combustion engine, sorry. Now I'm hoping I made the right choice between the Rivian and the Ford Lighting.
I was in the market for a truck and researched 2 years ago. Decided the the R1T was the way for me to go. I've had it a month and am not looking back! Love Love Love it. It does everything and more for me.
Wish ya happiness with the EV world. I entered the EV by 1st renting a Model 3 car in 2020. Then because I was in it for a short period of time (it was a weekend rental) , I elected to buy a Model S (new version with yoke steering wheel). After about a month, I was already having buyer's remorse. 6 months into ownership, I just sold it. The EPA MPGe figures are a joke... You'll ONLY achieve anything close to the advertised/published numbers if there are no stop signs, inclines (hills), erratic traffic speeds, and vehicle kept under 60mph. I'm going back to ICE (RAM 1500 Limited w/ diesel eng) and I'll happily pay $6+ per gallon.
Right now, my pick is the Raptor even with it's dated looks. The generator system along with all the performance is what attracts me. If money was no object then the TRX. The Rivian, while cool tech wise just doesn't do it for me on size or looks.
This is a hard one! All three models are great, but we must pick just one. I will say the Rivian would be my choice, why?? It's the future! As you said, it is funny looking, not in this words, but its tech is just superb! I love it!

R1T for me. Yes, it has flaws and limits like any electric vehicle but it has amazing power and handling for a truck. Well done Rivian, but it sucks you had to raise the price by 20+% and I'm still concerned about the longevity of the company.
I would go with the Rivian. The power and speed in this video suggest it is a beast that must be contained. Any driver probably has to check himself before he wrecks himself in this monster ! 🙂

Well, given that I had a Rivian reservation for about two years before they screwed with the price (26% increase on mine) and that totally blew my faith in the management of the company, I’d go raptor. I’d largely go Raptor over TRX because you can still get one in the mid to high 70s (won’t get the 800hp, 300/400 mile range Rivian for under $100k). Rivian did give me a couple of day window to take my reservation back at the original price but the trust was gone. BTW, gas prices won’t stay this high forever and as more people plug in, electric will jump, nothing is free. For those who love the environment, with all of the rare metals involved and mining, the size of the batteries, you’ll probably have to go at least 120,000 miles before it’s cleaner than the Raptor.

I’ve just always been a Raptor fan. Rivian is very tempting too though. TRX is cool, but just seems too much for me as a daily driver and would pay a fortune on gas
gen 3 raptor BUT the raptor R when it comes out.. i have a og raptor 6.2L best truck ive owned but its a expensive hobby. maybe the ford lightning in the future

I had a trx loved it but 8 mpg I was paying $1000 a month on gas I have a rivian r1t now and boy is it amazing I would never go back to the trx
I'd buy a Maverick and save the rest of the money. Sips fuel and I'll rarely risk high insurance costs or speeding tickets, with the added benefit of low maintenance costs from not banging about on off-road surfaces.
Rivian all the way!
I don’t think if you are buying a $100,000 truck fuel consumption is the first thing you look at TRX or Raptor u can’t go wrong with any of them 💯💯💯
Crazy how they say 100k trucks when my raptor was 63k and my trx was 86k.
T-ReX #1, Raptor #2. Being in the middle of the country we don’t have the number of charging stations available like you would need for the EVs. Sure it’s the future, but it’s not the right now.
Why did you guys take down this video a few days ago?
Most definitely the raptor!
Raptor for me!!
Las tres me encantan, pero con mi economía mantener la ram o la raptor va a estar difícil, por eso mejor la Rivian en mi caso
TRX. No question.
I’ve just always been a Raptor fan. Rivian is very tempting too though. TRX is cool, but just seems too much for me as a daily driver and would pay a fortune on gas
I would have to put my money on the Rivian
gen 3 raptor BUT the raptor R when it comes out.. i have a og raptor 6.2L best truck ive owned but its a expensive hobby. maybe the ford lightning in the future
Ryan ZumMallen is always the life of the party...smoker or no.
2023 Ford raptor R.💯💯
I tow distance for track days and camping, electric is pretty much not an option at that point unless you're willing to sacrifice time.
Where you drive these at?
Why no driving footage of the Riv?
I would go raptor all day.
The Rivian with Max towing capacity brauns and the most advanced systems that cost the least to fuel Brains.
I would buy a Rivian. It suits me better & garage worthy.
Today - TRX
I had to pick the Raptor so I got my 2021. The styling and interior got me.that TTV6 is also a damn beast!!!
