@matthewtruitt8077 I've towed various work trailers my entire life, but very rarely out of the local area. All the jobs I have taken are within an hour's drive (because it's difficult to make much money when you have to drive more than an hour each way, each day). But to answer your question, EV's have superior tow dynamics and safety, due to their great torque, responsive throttles, regen braking and solid heft with a very low center of gravity. You will not find tow dynamics like that in any gas or diesel vehicle. This will make towing even right up to the limit, a very easy and relaxing affair with superior control and stability. Of the three EV trucks reviewed in this dumb comparison, the Cybertruck is going to be superior, due to its higher chassis rigidity, relatively long wheelbase and short rear overhang (distance from tow ball to rear axle). Chassis rigidity is what prevents trailer sway from being amplified which is basically what happens with the traditional ladder frame. I have a 2010 F-150 and the trailer needs to be setup and properly balanced or you WILL get trailer sway with heavier trailers because the truck's chassis is very flexy. The Cybertruck, in comparison, will have almost zero chassis flex, like it is hewn from a single billet. It is more rigid than the chassis of a McLaren F1, even a heavy, improperly setup trailer is not going to experience every person's worst nightmare, trailer sway going out of control. That's what causes most loss of control events at highway speeds. Mind you, you still want your trailer reasonably well setup so it will have good braking and emergency avoidance dynamics, but the ability and benefits of a rigid chassis to dampen oscillations shouldn't be under-estimated. The Cybertruck will have a very tight, responsive ride, even when towing right up to its 11,000 lbs. tow limit.

At least three and maybe four more boxes, thus making it the winner. And if you wanted to go crazy, the fold-up second row seats would have made this a total blowout!. Also, don't know if one box would have fit under the bed? In the end of your storage comments while you judged it barely being behind, you actually said "not much in it" about the Cybertruck. A bit harsh for your almost tie. Again... in the end it does hold more. Thanks; and again, a very nice overall presentation.

If I had the money, I would buy all three trucks! We use the F150 Lightning Platinum at work and it is GREAT! INSANELY BIG AND COMFORTABLE and is can STILL tow a typical 10,000 lbs worth of flat bed trailer with typical low-bed cargo for over 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge. For most urban and suburban environments that is more than enough for daily work and home use. For off-road use, I would change the tires of the Rivian to 33 inch Goodyear Duratracs and it would just fine as my weekend warrior vehicle that goes into the back-country lakes and rivers for some fishing and carrying my ruggedized inflatable fishing kayak. The Cybertruck is the vehicle I want to drive to the local city park for a BBQ with family and friends and use for the 2.5 hour drive to the local ski resorts (i.e. Whistler-Blackcomb from Vancouver!) blasting some 1980's era music all the way there while we sip on mocha lattes! I dont have a cyber truck but would love to own one. I would suggest making a list of ALL the positive things with the cyber truck then do a comparison with any other truck.
you have given so far the most solid advise i have heard. if you want a cybertruck, buy a cybertruck. can't be as simple, honest and straightforward as that.
Because let's be fair that's the only reason to buy one, it has no selling features beyond some people wanting one. It's worse at every single task, and you have to deal with the worst company on the planet when it comes to parts and service. It's also the most expensive, and the most expensive to maintain and operate. If you've ever owned a Tesla out of warranty you will know how absurdly expensive they are to keep on the road. Not to mention the hassle of even trying to get Tesla to honor their own warranties or contracts, or to get any repairs done in a timely fashion.
For the voice command does it do better or worse with British accents? Haha I think the words “turn on” should be used rather than “switch” for the wipers. 6:10
And that's the worst feature of it. Even worse than the styling, even worse than the choice to put everything on one's touch screen in the center, even worse than the choice to go with stainless steel body panels. The worst feature is that it's a Tesla with all the horrible things that comes with like the worst customer service in the industry, the most expensive parts, the most maintenance, etc
my quick take on this actually great video: 1. if testing the storage of the trucks not within the cabin, surely you would stack them in the cybertruck as it clearly fits 4 more on top when the taneu is closed. 2. the rear steering is currently locked to 3% and will in future be unlocked on all trucks to 10% (not ok imo) 3. small but the camera on the screen can be dragged all of the way to the left of the screen, making it no more cumbersome than a rear-view mirror, still a great job on the video keep up the quality content
oh maaaan now you gotta do an extra video to include the Silverado EV!! P.S. Tesla UI allowed you to pull out the wiper button onto the easy access bar. Yes, not as good as a button but not as bad as it was shown on the review.
It seems like a wonky review. I understand that they did cover driving impressions, but they showed the Lightning and Rivian's range and 0-60 time, but spent more time on the Cybertruck's turning radius and voice operated wiper controls. It was similar to their silly harping on the Tesla Model S Plaid's yoke steering (which is now an option), but they missed the Plaid's unequaled combination of acceleration, comfort and economy for the price. The Foundation Edition Cybertruck's price is high, but it is easy to option a Ford F150 Lightning or Rivian up to that $100K price as well. My take is that this video is mostly just a temptation to go to their website to hopefully see the important comparative information, laid out more objectively.
Even before I hit 'Play' , I knew this would be the dumbest reivew....and I hit 'Play' anyways. I was proven right! The ntcase dinged Cybertruck unnecessarily. As shown previously, the ultimate test for trucks is tractor pulling. Now that both the Rivian and F-150 have been tested, it's time to test the Cybertruck.
Cybertruck easily wins the tractor pull test over the other two. Others have already done it and Edmunds doesn't want to pay just to make the Tesla look better. This is a joke of a review, carefully scripted to try to appear rational.
@@ZipZoomZip If you watched the tractor pull follow up video you would have found out that the determining factor is a combination of weight and power. The Cybertruck is lighter than either of the other options though it's faster. So will it prevail? That's what I want to know.
The Cybertruck has already outpulled the F-150 Lightning, even though it's lighter. Those All-Terrain tires might reduce the range a bit, but they give better traction in a tractor pull contest. Also, Tesla are well known to have great traction control delivery. My Model 3 Performance on snow and ice is just phenomenal, a real kick in the pants the way it can accelerate at the limits of traction. @@ryanehoward
I didn't see the video, I just imagined what the conclusion we could expect coming from Edmunds and voila! Nailed. Thats what a lost credibility look like.
The CT is practical as a truck, drives like a car (until you get into a less specious situation) and soon it might even become an off-roaad machine after some updates. The price is the only issue
The efficiency is the same between all three? I'm surprised by this. Maybe the other number worth comparing is profit margin. I'm not just being a troll (though I am trolling). But also I think it's important for people to know whether their choice is being subsidized.
For the rear view camera I don't get why they didn't just put what looks like a regular rear view mirror in the normal place but have it be a screen instead. These are common items already for people that don't have zero visibility in the back as is the case with the Cybertruck. It would be annoying to always have part of the screen used for this view and then it would get confusing to have that same spot on the screen switch to left or right when turning.
@@joshuagolden5194 You are correct; and Tesla almost went under, twice. Just because Tesla made it, does not mean that Rivian will. That is failed logic.
Everyone did each of those is piecemeal fashion. But putting all together for a price is what makes Cybertruck great. This rhetoric of A was faster, B was stronger, C was nimble gets old and boring....unless you can show A+B+C+... all in a single vehicle
Objectively, I find the lack of anything in front of the driver position very unsettling. I’ve noticed many Model 3 & Y owners have a phone mounted where the dashboard should located. The lack of CarPlay is annoying. I feel like I’ve lost the rental car lottery if I get stuck with a Tesla.
This is interesting because until now, the actual tests that we've seen for range on the Cybertruck have been absolute worst case scenario range tests, which obviously gave results that worried everyone and made them complain about it. Looking at these trucks all under the same conditions (except for the CT not having tires to help range) the range really isn't that different. It looks like should the CT be given better tires it could be very comparable to the F-150
I applaud Tesla for making something as bonkers as the Cybertruck, but I would take the Rivian any day. The Rivian is such a beautiful truck that is fun and ready to do what you need.
Why wouldn’t you have stacked another layer onto the Cybertruck of boxes? It seemed to clearly be able to easily carry them. And in regards to the hyper, how many people do autocross ?? To me wheel is trash compared to the yoke. Way more stable at high speed, and much closer reach for longer trips.
Sure the F-150 Lightning is the more truck oriented vehicle. But it is not the better F-150. You've seen it yourself, towing is less than acceptable. I do understand that this is a truck test being conducted in the city in California. Bring these to mountains (east or west, winter or summer) and slap a trailer on there. Tell me where you are charging these while you ride your dirtbike, ATV, snowmobile, or take the boat out... if you even make it in the first shot. Good to know they handle some lowes moving boxes, but real world these are just bigger daily drivers.
@@markplott4820you mean the same track that a stock Subaru can do? But only doable in a Tesla if it has extra features that aren't available in the production models? Yeah, real impressive.
5:58 you REALLY should learn how to use the vehicle before attempting a review (or just call it a preview). The wiper controls are right there, at at thumbs reach, on the steering wheel. You turn them on with one push of a thumb, and you can use the left scroll wheel to change the intermittency speed.
Which truck has more visibility without using cameras? Which is easier to install ladder racks and/or tool boxes on? Can any of the three have a utility bed or flatbed installed in place of the original bed? If the battery pack failed today, which truck is cheaper to replace batteries on? Not including warranty. Can any of the three be ordered without an infotainment touchscreen?
I have an F150 Lightning Lariat. It is basically an F150 with an electric battery. I love mine. It has plenty of visibility without using a camera. It has a 5 1/2 foot bed, and you could easily install ladder racks or toolboxes. You would have to ask the dealer about changing out the bed. If it could be done, the Ford is probably the one that it could be done on. The battery packs all have long warranties, eight years and 100,000 miles or thereabouts. battery reliability is likely to be high if the manufacturer is warranting that for such a long period of time. Obviously if your battery goes bad at nine years and 150,000 miles, it will be expensive to replace. Pretty much every new car on the road right now has an infotainment screen. It is a matter of how small you can get it. The basic trims on the F150 have a smaller screen.
He definitely went out of his way to be charitable to the cybertruck. I mean he did admit that he lusted over one personally, and the rest of the review was just as biased in favor of it despite its many drawbacks.
I can't imagine taking either one of these $100K truck to work on a construction site, & introduce them to a pallet of concrete or rack of lumber, & etc.
Tesla is the best car company ever no gas stations no oil changes no smog check no corrupt dealerships no catalytic converter no dealer mark up above MSRP! Oh and I have a lot of Tesla stock!
I can tell you have a lot of Tesla stock. What I can also tell is that you don't drive a Tesla out of warranty. My model S has been the most expensive car to maintain that I have ever owned. And I've owned Mercedes S class and exotic imports. The lack of dealerships has been a major con, not a plus. It was the most painful purchase experience I've ever had, where they couldn't even tell me where my car was for several months, and this was for a car that was theoretically already built and sitting on their lot. They flat out lied about a majority of their features. They've consistently refused to honor their warranty, or their prepaid service plan. And they routinely remove functionality or degrade the user interface with nearly every software update while not allowing you to opt out of the updates. I will never, under any circumstance, buy another Tesla as long as I shall live.
I don't know if it's just my state, but I've always seen Rivians or Teslas on the road. You don’t see a lot of Lucids or, let's say, MachEs. Let's talk about that. Edit:mynameisJeff
The supercharging network is a big deal on trips, but that's going away when others use nacs. If Tesla actually had the range they originally stated, 500 miles, it would be a far easier 100k pill to swallow. Too many compromises at this point in time.

No we don’t. It looks terrible and is 2x the price / significantly less range than what was announced.
@@TDog4444and sold out for years to come
@@TDog4444 True. But they have enough demand already. A 500 mile cybertruck was very possible just... not worth it for the company...yet.
Thankfully it showed all cars don't need to look the exact same as they've been doing for 30 years. Maybe other cars will start experimenting with different looks
@@hristog1997 I guess. I’ve had an invite to order and receive within a month for a “limited edition” variant. Apparently it hasn’t sold out yet….
great analysis! Sounds like it is really a Tesla...even without the badges
Lets he honest, the lighting is the only truck here that has a slight chance of not living life as a garage queen.
oh maaaan now you gotta do an extra video to include the Silverado EV!! P.S. Tesla UI allowed you to pull out the wiper button onto the easy access bar. Yes, not as good as a button but not as bad as it was shown on the review.
0'27 good. Thank you!
They still call a flashlight a torch 😂 8:10
Learn how to use the features before you feature them…..
Cybertruck is quicker, more manueverable, more horsepower, has bigger bed, bigger payload, higher towing capacity etc etc but somehow it is neither good as a work truck nor as a lifestyle truck??? The guy offers zero analysis; his verdict is based on 'my kids love Rivian'. What a loser!
A fun easter egg to try: if you tap on the drivers-side windows on the 3D image of the Cybertruck in the infotainment screen, watch what happens.
Why is taking to the Tesla system when there is a wiper button on the steering wheel?
Not the ultimate test. If you set them up the same with regards to weight, hitch height and tires you would have a bit of knowledge.
Cybertruck already WON the tractor pull @ over 300 feet....lol😂
Let’s be honest-This was a Cybertruck video with a little Rivian and Lightning sprinkled in.
The efficiency is the same between all three? I'm surprised by this. Maybe the other number worth comparing is profit margin. I'm not just being a troll (though I am trolling). But also I think it's important for people to know whether their choice is being subsidized.
I would say if you want a work truck, buy the hybrid F150. it has advantages over both the fully electric and the fully ICE.
It's a lot easier to just hit a stalk to activate the wipers than to try to get your overpriced refrigerator on wheels to understand your commands
The risk with Rivian vehicles is that the company might not be around in a few years to give you warranty and spare parts.
For sure, they’re not doing well financially. As soon as the Cybertruck started delivery, sales dropped of a cliff
That's what was said about Tesla in the early days.
@@joshuagolden5194 You are correct; and Tesla almost went under, twice. Just because Tesla made it, does not mean that Rivian will. That is failed logic.

what if the model 2 is a tesla elcamino a model 3 with a bed
Are you going to analyze the technology?
Didn’t Infiniti do Steer-By-Wire a decade ago?
They did, but I was still connected to a steering column as a redundancy. CT has no physical connection.
Everyone did each of those is piecemeal fashion. But putting all together for a price is what makes Cybertruck great. This rhetoric of A was faster, B was stronger, C was nimble gets old and boring....unless you can show A+B+C+... all in a single vehicle
Love the conclusion. Cybertruck is a class of its own!!
The blind spot view can be moved anywhere on the screen except covering the speedometer.........
Love my Rivian
I like the way he says "Tezla"
Must be the Italian way!
There is a wiper button the steering wheel….. very easy
Now we want to hear from a truck guy not a city boy..
@13:32 Nice lane change in an intersection.
I'm looking forward to the CyberTruck: DVD Edition
I guess it would've been embarrassing to compare off-road capabilities.
See - Tesla video - Cybertruck @ Hells Revenge, Utah.
@@markplott4820you mean the same track that a stock Subaru can do? But only doable in a Tesla if it has extra features that aren't available in the production models? Yeah, real impressive.
A Cybervan would make more sense for me on the same platform.
Only need 15:58 1 F-150 to Cary 27 boxes and 2 Rivian and 2 Cybertrucks to do the same.
You're suppose to load your truck from the tail gate, not from the side of the truck.
Where have I seen the banana box test done before . . .

I will never, under any circumstance, buy another Tesla as long as I shall live.
click bait thumbnail.
I don't know if it's just my state, but I've always seen Rivians or Teslas on the road. You don’t see a lot of Lucids or, let's say, MachEs. Let's talk about that.

Cybertruck for the win! What a great review. Please keep them coming.
The next gen ct is going to shoot for 500 mi. of range. That's the ballgame.
Bro there is a wiper button on the Cybertruck steering wheel. You know that.
The supercharging network is a big deal on trips, but that's going away when others use nacs. If Tesla actually had the range they originally stated, 500 miles, it would be a far easier 100k pill to swallow. Too many compromises at this point in time.
