This is the first Throttle House I've watched, and I must say- I've never been as entertained so much by a team of auto journalists as I have with May, Hammond and Clarkson. These two make a great match. Awesome dynamic while remaining delightfully informative.
I don’t find James (the English guy) as interesting and also unoriginal like he’s trying too hard. It’s almost as if his dad is the producer and gave him a platform lol. surprisingly the American guy is much more interesting. Nothing will come close to Top Gear though.
I can't forget when I was at the launch of the new S8 a few months ago in Spain, and I was driving it on the curvy roads outside of Barcelona, and thinking to myself "how on earth is this huge car so agile in the curves and so extremely fast??". One of the best cars out there if you ask me. Mindblowingly good. Cheers and thanks the another great video!
j0epark1 I can’t comment on this specific topic since I’ve never driven an S8 specifically, but I have driven and owned many BMWs, Audi’s, and a few Mercedes. Many of them were SUVs. I’ve always found the Audi’s to be the best driving cars, they just seem so much more fun and nimble on their feet than their comparing bmws and Mercedes. And this is coming from a guy who currently owns 2 BMWs.
Dylan F I beg to differ. I’ve driven a few respected Audis, and they just don’t compare to the M cars. If you want a driver’s car, then the BMW is it. Their handling and weight distribution is just unmatched. Mercedes AMGs are amazing, but they can’t find the same kind of balance as the BMWs. The Audis interior is top-notch however. But I can’t say they have blown me away like BMWs or Mercedes.
j0epark1 the driving part is your opinion, everyone’s opinions vary. However, on an objective scale, you are very incorrect about the interiors. Compare a new BMW to a new Audi interior, the Audi absolutely blows away BMW, and even Mercedes when it comes to interior quality and impressiveness, and every single automotive journalist or TH-cam would agree with me. It’s literally the most important thing about Audi’s. Also, I have driven a few M cars, but in general, I’m just comparing normal/M sport BMWs to Normal/s line Audi’s. For example, I’ve driven a 2017 BMW 340i and owned a 2016 Audi S4 (which are competitors). While the 340 was sligjtly faster than my S4, I found the S4 to be much more nimble and much more well balanced. I definitely had more confidence coming into turns at high speeds in the S4. I would have kept that car forever, but unfortunately it was totalled in an accident back in late 2018. Boy I miss that car. I would have replaced it with a newer S4, but the BMW dealer which I already had an X5 purchased from offered me an amazing deal on a demo 2019 540i, so I couldn’t pass it up. I know they’re not in the same class.
That was probably the funniest luxury car review i've seen in my life 😂 Just one thing is missing for perfection: if you guys are talking about how great the ambient lighting looks it would be cool to see a short clip filmed in the night. Tashun Kosapa i heard somewhere that this is because in china which is one of the biggest buyer groups they love bigger because it equals status so BMW tailored it after the chinese market
When you realize what it DOES it becomes amazing... it literally stays closed to warm up the engine and increase aero efficiency (reduce drag) and opens to cool down the engine when going all out. Active grills are awesome!

The BMW is so nice! My only bone with this car is that it has exactly the same steering wheel as the 30K dollar One Series. You'd think for a 180K, they could differentiate a little?!

My wife, I and another couple took an 8 hour road trip in my 7 Series a while back. For some reason my wife wanted to drive so my buddy and I rode in the back. Best road trip of my life. Utter comfort and joy.

I mean both mercedes and audi grills have grown too over the years. I will admit it does look weird on the BMW but apparently in some markets a big grill is what tells the world you have something luxurious and expensive. The same big grill is on the x7 too but I think it looks good on that because of the proportions
Angeles Crest Highway, my favorite road to drive on; SoCal has the absolute best backroads/canyons. I know ACH like the back of my hand and enjoy it whenever I have some free time in my B8.5. I'm so happy that you guys were able to come to California and experience the amazing roads we have to offer here in these two phenomenal executive vehicles. I'm Team Audi, through and through, but it's awesome to see these two together. Can't wait for more of your incredible videos. You two have such great chemistry and I feel like I'm watching a duo of the "original trio" (TGUK:Clarkson, Hammond, and May). Was in Manhattan last week, most SUVs were mixed between Benz and Audi, but I saw no A8s or 7series, so many S-classes though. S-class was the second most common car behind taxis
That's my main reason I love my A8L it's so different from a lot of cars on the road I see quite a few S class and 7 series driving. I like to stand out from the crowd.
Production quality, humor, information and entertainment that are waaaaay above anyone else doing car reviews on youtube. Your only competition would've been the old Top Gear; you're certainly better than the new one. Massive kudos!

3 years ago I bought a 2016 Audi A8L with the 4.0T twin turbo engine. I specifically looked for one that had the APR tune, which puts it right near the S8 (545 HP / 629 lb ft trq). It doesn't have the piano black problems. For another $500 I added an aftermarket Apple Carplay. That tune (Stage 1) tested by APR to do 0-60 @ 3.53 seconds on 93 Octane and tops out at just under 200 flat out. Great sleeper car, very comfortable (massaging front and rear seats, A/C & heated seats, heads up display, adaptive cruise, etc.) It's long since paid for and I paid $31.6k. On long trips if you baby it you can get 28 MPG on highway runs. It's a thrill every day I drive it. If you want one from this range (2016-2018) Audi has a recall on the oil screen - make sure they replace that part for the turbos. Otherwise, drive it and enjoy. Can't beat the bang for buck. Original sticker was $97k - had good luck with Audi the last 8 years (buying 3-4 year old clean low mile models with good service history). It's no Toyota though for reliability I will admit.
I was lucky enough to see an S8 in person, it was beyond beautiful. I first thought that it was the same as the other S lines of Audi's but didn't know it was such a majestic beast. The car definitely looked better than the one shown in this video TBH.
This review was awesome and so much fun to watch on a Sunday morning with coffee. Living in the northeast u.s. I’d have to go with Audi for it’s quattro system. Both cars were great though, great job guys. I really laughed and had a great time watching the content.

I am the proud owner of a 2021 BMW 750i Msport, I test Drove the 2021 S8 and honestly couldn't get over the looks of the exterior and the piano black finish and the fingerprint magnet that are the screens, it's really that bad. With that being said, the gauge cluster on this Audi is the best in the industry bar none, I have always loved the understated looks of the A8/S8 but this new model does absolutely nothing for me, it's the least exciting A8 in the last 20 years. I would've waited for the new S-class but I didn't want to deal with the dealer price gouging and the long wait list, so far I am very happy with my purchase of my 750i, I have zero regrets, when the new S-class is more readily available I will most likely jump into one of those.
1:17 Understated package is an understatement. This particular Audi S8 looks pretty much like a base trim level VW on the outside. The interior is pretty awesome, though.

I mean both mercedes and audi grills have grown too over the years. I will admit it does look weird on the BMW but apparently in some markets a big grill is what tells the world you have something luxurious and expensive. The same big grill is on the x7 too but I think it looks good on that because of the proportions

Angeles Crest Highway, my favorite road to drive on; SoCal has the absolute best backroads/canyons. I know ACH like the back of my hand and enjoy it whenever I have some free time in my B8.5.

Was in Manhattan last week, most SUVs were mixed between Benz and Audi, but I saw no A8s or 7series, so many S-classes though. S-class was the second most common car behind taxis
That's my main reason I love my A8L it's so different from a lot of cars on the road I see quite a few S class and 7 series driving. I like to stand out from the crowd.

3 years ago I bought a 2016 Audi A8L with the 4.0T twin turbo engine. I specifically looked for one that had the APR tune, which puts it right near the S8 (545 HP / 629 lb ft trq). It doesn't have the piano black problems. For another $500 I added an aftermarket Apple Carplay. That tune (Stage 1) tested by APR to do 0-60 @ 3.53 seconds on 93 Octane and tops out at just under 200 flat out. Great sleeper car, very comfortable (massaging front and rear seats, A/C & heated seats, heads up display, adaptive cruise, etc.) It's long since paid for and I paid $31.6k. On long trips if you baby it you can get 28 MPG on highway runs. It's a thrill every day I drive it. If you want one from this range (2016-2018) Audi has a recall on the oil screen - make sure they replace that part for the turbos. Otherwise, drive it and enjoy. Can't beat the bang for buck. Original sticker was $97k - had good luck with Audi the last 8 years (buying 3-4 year old clean low mile models with good service history). It's no Toyota though for reliability I will admit.
I was lucky enough to see an S8 in person, it was beyond beautiful. I first thought that it was the same as the other S lines of Audi's but didn't know it was such a majestic beast.
The car definitely looked better than the one shown in this video TBH.

This review was awesome and so much fun to watch on a Sunday morning with coffee. Living in the northeast u.s. I’d have to go with Audi for it’s quattro system. Both cars were great though, great job guys. I really laughed and had a great time watching the content.

I am the proud owner of a 2021 BMW 750i Msport, I test Drove the 2021 S8 and honestly couldn't get over the looks of the exterior and the piano black finish and the fingerprint magnet that are the screens, it's really that bad. With that being said, the gauge cluster on this Audi is the best in the industry bar none, I have always loved the understated looks of the A8/S8 but this new model does absolutely nothing for me, it's the least exciting A8 in the last 20 years. I would've waited for the new S-class but I didn't want to deal with the dealer price gouging and the long wait list, so far I am very happy with my purchase of my 750i, I have zero regrets, when the new S-class is more readily available I will most likely jump into one of those.

I actually think it is the same colour. Have moonlight blue on mine and in bright sunlight it really looks blue
1:17 Understated package is an understatement. This particular Audi S8 looks pretty much like a base trim level VW on the outside. The interior is pretty awesome, though.
