After seeing your analysis, a bought a 65w charger, and a 10A 20w powerbank both from Baseus to charge all my devices while i travel Brazil from south to north. Those work beautifully, and are lightweight, which is nice since all i carry is a 40l backpack. Thanks for those videos!
This is a more than fair review. I got the 240w knowing that it may not be the most efficient charger for day-to-day use. But it's a perfect travel charger for my needs as I have a lot of devices that I need to charge including portable fans from the low power USB-A input. I have friends I usually travel with, and the outlets can run out quick. When you have a phone, a smartwatch, a battery bank, and a laptop, this thing comes in handy. I took it out for a trip this weekend and it makes it easier to manage with less overall chargers to carry.
The 100W GaN portable is perfect for carrying around to fast charge your devices. I travel with two of them. Each adapter has 2 USBC ports. The power station I have mixed feelings about. First of all, their prices exceed $150 which means they are less economical than simply buying a $5 power strip and bringing individual charging bricks with you. For travelers you'll still need a travel adapter for most countries because the socket types are so different. Whilst in Bali recently, I went to a hardware store and bought a cheap TYPE F grounded power strip with 3 outlets which even had 2 USB ports and 1 USBC port. For devices you don't need to rapid charge (headphones, smartwatch, etc) that little strip was more than perfect. In Singapore, they used TYPE G, but the hotel room not only gave me multiple TYPE G sockets but a nifty usb port as well. The ANKER power station is cool, but the price is high and its adapter is bulky. When you have multiple high-load devices charging simultaneously, the Anker looses some steam.
The "restarts charging half way through" part on the new adapters is what grinds my gears. It happens with Apple Watch for example. Stops charging. Restarts charging. Repeat. Charging then takes twice as long. Also, I have a use-case not many people have. I use a USB charger as a power source for my CPAP (breathing) machine, since its power supply is just huge and heavy. It requires 24v, and I got a USB 20v PD trigger + 24v step-up connected to my breathing machine. If the USB power supply interrupts due to some nonsense, I don't stop breathing for a while. Not life threatening, but not good. I understand they don't advertise this as a medical device, I just don't get why the old adapter is capable of supporting it, yet the new one is not to save 10g. Also, Ankers' information regarding which devices support what is quite horrible. Still looking for a better 3 port, ideally all USB-C, 65-100w travel adapter (already carrying enough with my machine) that 100% supports my use-case. :-( And thanks a lot for your reviews, they are quite eye-opening.
Yeah, renegotiation was better on the previous year devices from Anker. Someone else had commented the 100W works with the magsafe charger now, so maybe something to do with a different charging control chip. Although I bet an apple charger works fine for both use cases.
Regarding last year's model for the Anker 100w, I've seen comments that some power cables are larger and the ports on last year's model are closer together, so that can be an aspect of last year's model that people might want to stay away from.
I've been using the Anker power bank 27k since launch and I actually do use the mobile app because it allows you to ping your power bank and make a loud noise so that you can find it if you lose it. I appreciate your reviews and I can honestly say I'm very impressed
The App for the 240W allows you to configure charging modes (smart dynamic allocation & a mode recommended for high power equipment. This may solve the wig problem you mentioned. It also allows firmware update, and scheduling of when the ports are on and off. It also graphs and lets you set display modes. For me the 240w is my new travel charger as I travel with a lot of demanding devices: DJI Air3 who’s battery hub charges at 100w, hand held video camera (35w), MacBook Pro (up to 140w), iPads (30w), iPhone/watch/headphones 3 way charger, Anker battery bank (140W) + my wife’s stuff. So more ports is always better, and more port faster is also often better since when shooting video and photos, timing is everything. The built in read out is really welcome in helping to figure out what is going on, and the surge protection is an extra layer of peace of mind given the cost of what is plugged in.
Thanks, yeah, I looked at the description for this one and the mode switching is not an advertised app feature. That is on the 250W charger though. I don't see any reason why this one wouldn't have it too though, so maybe a failure in the advertising, but then in that case the story changes to it doesn't work with the button, where the 250W has a button to do that mode change. In terms of scheduling, that could be useful and is pretty cool. Wow, that is a lot of devices, so having the extra ports makes sense. Several of those are low power devices too so the USB A ports are useful as well.
Thanks for the video! As per your previous recommendation, I bought the previous 240W Anker adaptor, it has held up well and I'm glad it remains a high performer.
I was ready to get the new Anker Prime 240 watt unit until i saw your review. I think i will wait as i do have last year's 100 watt unit. Thanks for a great review!
Seeing how extensive your reviews are on these chargers, I will just wait for your verdict before I make the buy. Learnt alot in a very short time. Thanks.
The more I watch these videos the less hope I have to get a good all around charger. All of them have issues ! I'm not asking for 100% good but something you would say : buy this one guys, this is the best option available. Thanks for the reviews man. appreciate it
Given the breadth of uses and electrical characteristics of USB-PD there’s not even really a “typical” use case for USB power anymore for such a general-purpose adapter to be designed for. The Universal in USB applies to the standard and definitely does not apply to almost any component. A more accurate adjective perhaps would have been “composable” or “modular” rather than “universal.”
Thanks for taking the time to make great content. Looking forward to the review of the new 250W GanPrime to see if it should replace my older 240W. It'd be the perfect opportunity to pitch it against that Baseus 240W you've been sitting on because of their similarities ;) When you get a chance, of course :)

Your channel is amazing. Can you please review the new anker product that has the "6-Port GaN Charging Station, 2.26" LCD Display and Smart Control Dial". I understand its a similar product to the desk unit, but more interesting!
Can someone Please explain what the heck is Power IQ, and Why Anker keeps telling that it is a fast charging protocol while NO NONE seems to implement it?
Yea it's baffling, I just don't understand why companies feel the urge to use glossy plastic - it gets immediately dirty, if you try to clean it gets scratched (but usually it's already scratched from the factory) and on top of that it almost always makes the manufacturing process more complicated while not improving anything - these adapters would be much better without the cheap-looking glossy parts.
The amount of products Anker releases and updates over time is admittedly quite impressive. Things went from basic to compact to high power to both and all sorts of power ranges. And thanks for reviewing what they're actually up to.
Yeah, it’s crazy much now but they did spend quite some time with just one or no multiport charger over 65W a few years ago, and they were also a little late to the GaN party. Back then Aukey and RavPower were still alive… RIP haha
Thank you for this. Always waiting for your videos. Might be buying the rocoren 100w through your link soon but might be to thick to travel with. Any chance you could test something really small like the mokin dual usb c 40w adapter? IDK of anything else as small
It depends what you need, the dual 40W adapters often only have two modes, 5/9v so only charge phones. If you are looking to charge anything larger, I'd look at the Ikea 45W maybe?
Love your work. I'd be interested in a video covering what you imagine the ideal supply to be and what might stop an engineering firm making it (aside from price I guess). It feels like with every new release there's tradeoffs galore. I'm not an electrical engineer but I do work in electronics manufacturing and all the engineers around me work so hard to reduce tradeoffs. I just want someone to build a fantastic charger that will last a long time and I would pay 3-4x what these cost.
You are all over the place. Your descriptions seems very detailed but when you listen its vague. Sorry if I sound negative. I view your videos many many times to just understand it. Even then I come out confused whether to buy or not
Yeah, I've toned the language down a bit, trying to be 'nice'. The review style is often rushed, get through as much as possible in a short of a time as possible, which especially if you skip around, you will hear it's good, it's bad, it's good... But that is because of it's completeness, each product is often good at some things and bad at some things, and I mention both the good and the bad. I do often leave that final decision up to you. It is certainly niche content and it constantly evolves to try to be more complete overall but it can certainly be confusing so you are correct for sure.
Great review, as always! The unnecessary inclusion or app controls will never cease to amaze me. The display for power usage is great, and i hope to see more if that in the future though.
Thanks for the great review! I'm looking for a compact lightweight 100w charger to charge quickly and safely multiple samsung devices like fold 6, watch ultra and buds 3 pro, as well as batteries for my cameras and an old garmin quatix 6. I would like it to be future proof in case i get a new laptop later on. Would you recommend this new Anker prime 100w or the previous version?Or the Ugreen 100w pro version? Related to power supply I'm based in between Italy and Brazil. Thanks!
From a Japanese user The 240w charging station is fine except the AC adapter is too trashy The 100w wall charger will get hot to the point of low tone burns when pushed to the limit. If you want to use it at full output, make sure to keep it away from combustible materials.
I got 28 V out of the 240 W combo unit charging the 140 W Anker 737 power bank, with an additional external display drawing 12 V 0.6 A from another USB-C port. The moment I plug in the 15 V Quest 3 charging dock (so three ports used), the power bank charging goes down to 20 V.
Power iq refers to port negociation being set in iq3 and free floating in iq4 where instead of locking ports to 45w and 20w instead whatever remains from the first such as 55w and 10w and any balance in-between exists
You should definitely do a test of realme's new pocket cannon charger when it becomes available. They recently did a demo and charged their new phone battery from 0-100% in 4 min 30 sec. They are calling it 320 Watt supersonic charge, but I think that's only for realme phones. However it would be great to know how that charger will perform in charging other devices via PD.
So, the European market doesn't get this 240W charger but it gets the 200W (4C2A) desktop charger that costs the same as the new 100W charger, making it very good value.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I had an naked power adapter that would get hot as lava. I also have a 737 power bank and it wasn’t overheating. Anker is definitely hit or miss with me.
Thank you for your reviews. Do you have any recommendation for an iphone 16 pro max charger? I just recently bought the Anker 100w and have been trying so many chargers but can't seem to find the right amps/voltage that'll be ideal for ip16max
Could you include a short review on the Anker 167.5w car or even a comment would do. What does the idle consumption look like how long can it go while under load and charging modes?
Not sure why anker dropped 12V when most of the times it was one of the adapter that supported more power modes. I am looking at single 240W that can support gaming laptop, thin n light laptop, phones and tablets. Tried looking at 240W from slimq but customers complained about hisses and dying quickly on full load on daily usage.
Can you recommend a charger that will deliver 100 Watts to a UGREEN Revodok Pro 107 USB-C Hub 7 in 1? I'd like to keep the charger plugged into the hub all the time. My most important requirement is that the charger not overheat and burn down my house. The hub will connect to a tower, so the power is to give a USB connected phone good charging. A mouse and USB connected headphone will also be plugged into the hub. Thanks
Hey man, same problem. from what i've read on other vids from this channel, there is a preference from audience and channel for Baseus or satechi brand. Could be wrong to. I'm still doubting how the compatibility is going to be
I have been watching your videos for a while. Thank you. Can you recommend a portable battery bank? I have a Hyper Shop battery, which is bulky but excellent. I am looking for something portable for iPad Pro and iPhone 15. What would you recommend?”/
For a 100w laptop charger, would you go with the new Anker Prime as you say at the end despite the termal issues? If something else, what would be the one to go for, recently got the Anker 317 but concerned about voltage ripple now...
Just found your channel and instant sub! Very thorough. Specific and novice question: would it be ok to plug the CalDigit TBS 3 Plus into one of the AC plugs, MacBook Pro 2023 into one of the USB C plugs and External Monitor (Samsung g7 27-inch) into the second AC plug? I’m running an Acasis NvME SSD enclosure through the CalDigit and don’t want it to drop power delivery in the middle of a video edit 😮
Yeah, that sounds like it should work, and yeah, separate adapter for any critical items. The MBP won't care about power dropping for a second for any negotiation since it has a battery.
Yeah, I'd still buy the old 100W one vs the new one if I needed one more. Especially because I use the 12V PDO via a DC trigger cable to power 12V devices.
Looking to buy one to charge my phone, headlights, smartwatches, speakers and rarely a laptop. Do all these use 12 v? Do you think it's better to get the old one?
@@brumby8491Most native USB-C devices don't use 12V. They mostly use 9V, 15V, and 20V. One of the the few notable exceptions is DJI drone battery chargers, which will charge slow if 12V is not supported. As most devices don't use 12V, a lot of charger brands omit it. A lot of non-USB-C networking equipment uses 12V like routers, switches, and access points. One can use a USB-C to 5.5mm DC barrel 12V PDO trigger cable with them as long as the charger supports 12V and the powered device uses less than 3A (36W). If 12V is not needed for your use case, then buy the least expensive one.
@@adriftatlas waw thanks for the explanation! I actually got the old 100 w Anker since it's on sale. If the prongs are weak, I'll return and get the new one.
I have one of these - I can’t get it do the 12V USBC Standard which is what the DJI mini 3/mini 4 pros prefer to charge. I sure wish it would/it’s not listed on the specs. Maybe with a firmware update.
These feel like a downgrade compared to last year's A2343 (100W) /A2669 (67W) GaNPrime ones (like you replied too to an earlier comment!)... What I am especially curious about is why Anker has gone back to their Power IQ3 power distribution technology vs the IQ4 found on last year's chargers, meaning (?) these have a set maximum power for each port (not even as you mentioned) when more than one port is outputting instead of dynamically sharing power between the two up to the maximum total power (which is what i assumed the IQ4 chargers from last year could? please confirm this! Do you happen to have a good guess for this downgrade based on testing and experience?
Someone else pointed out that many of these manufacturers are switching to locally produced semiconductors, cost cutting, no one is expected to care about performance, so that could be one reason for the fall back.
I think it needs the DC to power the relays, so it won't even work as a power strip once that fails. But yeah, it's a complicated product. What do you think, does anyone need this?
@@AllThingsOnePlace I think most users need the functionality that monster provides. But I would never willingly specify a single point of failure when user-swappable components can achieve the same solution. This one apparently goes one step worse by making the extraordinarily reliable mains power as unreliable as the brutally failure-prone switching power supply. Maintenance, composability, and failure modes matter for cost, availability, and environmental impact. This monster is bad news for all three of those.
More than 40W chargers that are connected directly to a wall (without a wire to a wall) must die. Especially 100W "portable" ones. I get it for "home" use, where you have control over your sockets, but hoping for a tight enough socket while traveling that is not shoved in a barely accessible corner behind sofa or something?) And if you need adapter for another socket - that's a whole another story, and not a pretty one. But even at home - I have a power strip at my desk, it already has a couple of stupidly bulky PSUs (like for routers, audio equipment) and some regular plugs, I have place for a wired Baseus 100W, but I doubt Anker's 100W would fit.
Super curious if anyone has used these (100w new or old version) with Anker's split USB-C power cord. I need to charge a lot of lower powered devices while on the road and the ability to split 1 usb-c port into 2 cables to charge say, airpods, iphone, battery bank and hearing aids all at once is appealing... and then use the full single port power to charge my laptop is very appealing. Basically 1 dual port charger that I can split 4 ways to charge lower powered devices and then whole hog it to my laptop when needed. Anyone have an opinion?
I anyways would prefer the largest producer brands as Baseus or maybe RAVPower or Aukey. When Anker came to market, very lately, all those brands had claimed their room. Anker, another chinese brand, is just demanding a higher price for very heavy power supplies.
7:27 - Could you elaborate on how big of a deal it is that this adapter has trouble with USB negotiation for 28v mode? Like, is 28v mode a common thing to need, in your opinion?
There's a few power banks and the macbook pro 16" that can take advantage of this extra mode. If you don't have it, they won't not work, they'll just be slower charging. I think like many of the things in the power adapter space, each piece of the puzzle is unique and matters in a different way to each person using the device. If you don't have any of those 140W power devices, then as a multiport 20V adapter this seems fine.
what would you recommend for a ~100W+ charger that doesn't shutoff (I suppose throttling to ~90W is fine, if it can do that indefinitely) Or do these only shutoff for a few seconds then do fine? (I commented on losing performance/charging under load in the short, but something that could be annoying if using these with a laptop is they could change to a power saving mode during the shutoff/restart and some laptops flicker the screen to change refresh rate / or just kinda stutter in general)
A power strip and a good USB adapter separate. Anker certainly hasn't shown anything in this category. I have the new Baseus to check out but otherwise haven't really looked at enough of these. The UGREEN ones were checked but I don't remember those being great either.
The single port job? Yeah, eventually it'll make it. The cheaper Anker chargers usually are cheaper for a reason. It does look very tiny and lightweight though.
Are there any 100w charger that can charge 2 devices at 45w pps at the same time? Idk why those 100w charger always have the weird 65w - 35w power distribution
Go for the ugreen pb205. I know it's a powerbank but it does what you described as I'm using it right now. Charging 2 S24 Ultra's in Superfast charge 2.0
@@AllThingsOnePlace I hope it is not a very frequent problem, my laptop uses a maximum of 65w to charge and my cell phone uses about 45w, thank you for your response.
Hello, Which charger adapter would you recommend to recharge anker 548 power bank with maximum speed of 60 watts, and possibly charge a dell laptop usb c (not both at the same time) all in a safe manner?
I'd go for one of the 100 watt ones. The reasoning for that is you won't be maxing out the charger so therefore it will operate cooler and last longer.
Personally, Anker has been the no brain-er choice for me. Yes it does not have the best or must accurate listings but its also the only one that has a direct retail presence near my home and they've sorted out most things easily and quickly if i ever had to RMA anything from them. Baseus, UGreen, etc are Amazon only deal for me so I go with Anker for buying the more expensive things that may or may not need warranty support on the listed 1-5 years warranty (depending on device).
Comments are 180° vs. the Ugreen review... No comments on the Anker 100W shutting off after 30 minutes. Whereas the top voted comment for Ugreen is "100% unacceptable" Ehhh.
Yeah, I was curious how that would play out. I think the 240W kind of outshines the 100W too. I'm not sure the Anker is actually thermally shutting down or if it has an issue with USB negotiation and it hiccups every half hour because it didn't get that hot, or it could have a bad temperature sensor. Lots of maybe's but still doesn't change the fact that it behaves the same, half hour, it resets.

It seems to be Anker’s own semi-proprietary implementation of USB Power Delivery and Qualcomm Quick Charge. I don’t think it supports SuperVOOC.
@@KellyWu04 Yeah it does not support SuperVOOC and it is simply just a chip that swaps between QC, PD and PPS as far as I know.

@@AllThingsOnePlace from the info i find it is labeled as PD 5v, 9v, 12v, 15v 20v. PPS is 3.3v-11v. almost sounds too good to be true?

The 240w charging station is fine except the AC adapter is too trashy
The 100w wall charger will get hot to the point of low tone burns when pushed to the limit.
Yeah, I got it working with two devices, and found three devices turns off the 28V mode.
Holy sh*t,I didn't expect the a2688 is so bad
BTW Could you test Xiaomi 140w GaN 2c1a? It probably is the best performing PD 3.0 adapter out there
I added it to the list.
Baseus adapters are still king.
Up to 3 of them.
Nice.
So, the European market doesn't get this 240W charger but it gets the 200W (4C2A) desktop charger that costs the same as the new 100W charger, making it very good value.

@@AllThingsOnePlace Appreciate you, ATOP!

I have one of these - I can’t get it do the 12V USBC Standard which is what the DJI mini 3/mini 4 pros prefer to charge. I sure wish it would/it’s not listed on the specs. Maybe with a firmware update.
I think they generally removed 12V as it isn't required in the USB specification. But yeah, it's a nice to have.
Hi what charger would be best for the dji Air 3 and thank for the amazing video
Anker is best charger. I m using this brand since last 7 years
These feel like a downgrade compared to last year's A2343 (100W) /A2669 (67W) GaNPrime ones (like you replied too to an earlier comment!)...
I wonder what all stops working in that Frankenstein’s monster when the switcher inevitably fails.
This monster is bad news for all three of those.
sir, i had coffee ready when i clicked....
I thought the tingling feeling was just me 😂😂😂😂😂 did he say high tingle factor adaptor😂😂😂😂😂

I’m the only one who would like to have the possibility to set the output speed to charge slowly overnight?
No you aren't. Especially if a device is going to have a USB A port, make it 5V and make it 1A, 2A max.
The Pixel 8 has a feature to do that which I use. There is also the upcoming Leo from Liion Power which is supposed to work similarly.

hey brother, have you found anything as good as the ugreen 300w gan?
Hey man, Could you please review the Anker Prime 250W Charger, Ultra-Fast 6-Port GaN Charging Station? The new one with the knob. Thanks
Yeah, that has that unique feature so I do want to check that one out.
I anyways would prefer the largest producer brands as Baseus or maybe RAVPower or Aukey. When Anker came to market, very lately, all those brands had claimed their room. Anker, another chinese brand, is just demanding a higher price for very heavy power supplies.
Yeah, on the inside are any of them different.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Ahhh-that’s super helpful info! Thank you!
what would you recommend for a ~100W+ charger that doesn't shutoff (I suppose throttling to ~90W is fine, if it can do that indefinitely)
Or do these only shutoff for a few seconds then do fine?
(I commented on losing performance/charging under load in the short, but something that could be annoying if using these with a laptop is they could change to a power saving mode during the shutoff/restart and some laptops flicker the screen to change refresh rate / or just kinda stutter in general)
find anything?
"I guess, at this point, does any company?" 😂

what are your recommended charging stations with ac sockets?
A power strip and a good USB adapter separate. Anker certainly hasn't shown anything in this category. I have the new Baseus to check out but otherwise haven't really looked at enough of these. The UGREEN ones were checked but I don't remember those being great either.
Hi, have you seen the new 100w Anker nano charger?
The single port job? Yeah, eventually it'll make it. The cheaper Anker chargers usually are cheaper for a reason. It does look very tiny and lightweight though.
The weird part is the brick that connects to the wall. Why can’t it be like other power strips?
They make ones like that, but at this power level they'd have to make it thicker and you know, tech stuff...

No, it does not share evenly. It wouldn't be able to do 45 watts on each port anyway, it'll overheat.

Hello,
Which charger adapter would you recommend to recharge anker 548 power bank with maximum speed of 60 watts, and possibly charge a dell laptop usb c (not both at the same time) all in a safe manner?
I'd go for one of the 100 watt ones. The reasoning for that is you won't be maxing out the charger so therefore it will operate cooler and last longer.
No 12V output == pass
Personally, Anker has been the no brain-er choice for me. Yes it does not have the best or must accurate listings but its also the only one that has a direct retail presence near my home and they've sorted out most things easily and quickly if i ever had to RMA anything from them. Baseus, UGreen, etc are Amazon only deal for me so I go with Anker for buying the more expensive things that may or may not need warranty support on the listed 1-5 years warranty (depending on device).
do you know if an australian version will come out
I don't.
I feel as though adapters have peaked and now they're just regurgitating the designs in new, flashier enclosures. Disappointing.
I mean they can make them better but do they want to do research and development or make it shiny and sell it as a new thing.
They look nice, if you can get them half off
Comments are 180° vs. the Ugreen review...
@@AllThingsOnePlace What exactly do you mean by it resets? Was it just a blip and then it went back to charging?
Does this thing act as a APC if power goes out?
No, it isn't a battery.
