I just confirmed that...hmm. I found a kit that is for a slightly newer Chevy and the only difference I can see is the color of wires. So you could easily make that work, it's kit 30822 and it's right next to the older model in this shopping list www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits/list/1FNPJI3AJKMXS?tag=onamzjasonlew-20&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d
I've had my Painless kit sitting on the shelf for over 5 years. I have no excuse for not installing it since watching your video. Looks pretty simple. Thanks for posting.
I just got a parts store relay and socket. It's a great addition. I'm glad that a higher end company like Painless makes an easy and affordable kit for this purpose. I honestly think it cost me about the same to piece parts together myself.
You have the best little fixes….I never would have thought that something like that jumper existed. As always awesome stuff and glad you are back to the Tubes
Ok, I have to admit, that was a lot easier than I thought it would be to upgrade. Thank You for the informative and educational video. Keep up the good videos. Have A Good Day Sir! 🛻🚤🏖️
I’ve never understood why high beams and low beams were not allowed to turn on together. That’s always irritated me. Mahalo for showing us we don’t HAVE TO put up with that anymore. You made this look so easy!
On Ford Trucks we call this a Bambi mod so the Fogs and the high beams can run at the same time. Highs and Lows working make a big difference at the end of the day! Another good mod and a another good video Thanks!
@@AutoEdits I thought you had done this already 😬 it’s really a huge difference day n night. What also helped me was I kept cleaning my lens because they were oxidized. I was doing this every couple months so what I did was just bought new lens. Only spent around $100 for both at the auto parts store and that made a huge difference my Led lights were way clearer and casted further down the road.
I was just thinking "Boy, I haven't seen a video from Jason in a while". Then this video popped up. And, as it turned out, I either missed, or TH-cam didn't show me the video you uploaded a week ago. So I gotta go watch that one too!
@@AutoEdits I hope things improve for you. At least we are going to get a break in this non-stop rain. I know we need it, but the flooding up here is kind of crazy. So I am looking forward to the sun, as all this gloomy weather has not been great for me.
Tu video es útil e inspirador. Ojalá te animes a hablar en español, tendrias mucho éxito en hispanoamerica porqué no tent competencia y hay muchas camionetas de este tipo.
You say it's simple and an easy install straight forward would you say it's "painless" lol. Great video love the K1500/Tahoe videos. Thanks for filming.
@@AutoEdits Insert Michael Scott GIF hahaha. I'm in the middle of adding an upgraded aluminum radiator and electric fans. The headlight mod will be next.
I just installed the relay kit, my truck didn't have the fuse block on the inner fender. mine is on the passenger side firewall. I ran the positive wire to the alternator 12volt terminal. The only thing to critique is there are two green wires in the harness running to the headlights. The one to use is the light green wire. I also used wire loom to cover the wires. Someone might be confused if their truck doesn't have the fuse box on the fender, so they can run a wire all the way to the the pass. firewall or can run it to the alternator.😁
Simple upgrades like that make a huge difference. If you didn't throw in a "that's what she said" while talking about tugging, I would have been disappointed.
Use tan not brown and light green not the two other greens that are in that loom. Just used this video as a tutorial and took a random guess of what one of the three greens that are in the loom. But thanks to the video I was able to see it. Electrical is intimidating to me.
Hi I have a 1997 Tahoe do you know where the high beam relay is I dont see one in the fuse box or even a relay for the low beam , my low beam works but the high beam stopped working and can not fined a fuse or relay
Can someone please explain how I can fix this problem.only one side of all 4 lights aren’t turning on.highbeam, low beams, turn signal, and fog light on left side won’t turn on.i need y’all help 🙏🙏
I'm curious... why can't I just splice into the ground wire on the driver's side and connect the other end of the ground wire to the chassis somewhere? The lights are all wired in parallel, so tapping into the ground wire and tethering it to the chassis will control all 4 lights in the same manner as the relay you installed. My question actually is, is there a reason not to do it the way I am asking about? Thanks in advance.
I did this and now all 4 lights come on when I turn my low beams on and the high beams come on when it turn the high beams on, I did it exactly like you did. Any idea on what's wrong?
There were several changes throughout this timeframe. Changing from OBD1 to OBD2 made for lots of systems that aren't compatible across years but yes, lots of things are the same.
Maybe you should emphasise to establish a good and long lasting ground where you sand off the paint and use an nut and bolt in stead of the quick and bad solution using only a self tapping screw on an painted surface. Of course finishing it with protective paint to inhibit rust
That is a very luxurious garment... thank you, sir. I meant to rock it without a jacket but my fragile southern California carcass couldn't handle the cold 🤣

Can I do this for h4 led setup
I wonder why it’s only listed to fit up to 1998. Seems like my ‘99 should be OK
Yeah, wire colors might change but I'm not sure... would be easy to check.
MY HI BEAM SWITCH DOES NOT WORK AT THE DIMMER BAR. I ONLY HAVE LO BEAM SETTING. WOULD THIS WORK ON MY 1994 SILVERADO?
94 and older does not have that fuse/relay box...so will alternator work for power???
Yes, that’s a good spot.

Try it, I guess. I want the relay in there to handle the power draw correctly.

sounds like you swapped the wires or at least need to.
How much of a difference would you say it made champ?
It makes for a very helpful addition of light when driving, sport.
Why does everyone say 89-98? My 99 Tahoe is the same as this. It was in 2000 that the body changed?
