I don't disagree but both the music and the words brings it home to me as whom I miss! My Dad, Mum , Brother and Sister in law😢 I have a copy of the words.
I attended the funeral of a very dear friend yesterday I was a passenger in the car of the deceased lady on our way to the cemetery the driver played this music it was so beautiful. I looked over to the front of the car & saw it was Highland Cathedral he told me it's on you tube. It's absolutely beautiful. Thank you Aidan Davis I've listened to it several times today
When I married my lovely wife in 1996 my brother organized the Drum Major and Pipe Major of the RSDG to play in the church for us. I had no idea and it immediately brought a tear to my eyes. I was not expecting this in a German church!!! This tune always brings a tear and reminds me of how splendid this life and the world around us is!!!
From Canada. I visited the cathedral 2 months ago because I loved this video so much. I sat in the corner where the piper plays at the end and i watched the video…great moment. Beautiful cathedral❤
Can I ask if you visited the Memorial for the 16 innocent children and their teacher who were sadly shot in the Dunblane Massacre by a evil gunman?..I will never forget the day this terrible tragedy numbed Scotland.. RIP to the little ones and their brave teacher. 🙏
I watch this most days as it soothes me when life stresses my out. I thank you every day. I absolutely love the presentation. My favourite military dress. 💗💗💗
This is my favourite version. I chose this recording for our entry at our wedding last summer, causing most of our guests to melt away. Best wishes from Dresden. 🖖
Havent seen this video since i was 4 years old i was obsessed with it 😄 i watched it that much i joined a pipeband at 5 played in a top of the grade band until 19 and im 21 now watching this again just makes you remember why you started 💙
Sir Rod Stewart once sang 'And the swirling pipes, how they make a grown man cry'. That sums this version superbly:from the single pipes and drum, to the mass the addition and entrance of the rest of the band, the other instruments, the crescendo and the tempo, and simply the filming and framing of it- all in an historical and well known cathedral. Perfection. My goosebumps have goosebumps.
Such an impressive production. It made the hairs on my neck bristle. Thank you. I just love this piece of music even though I always end up with tears.
Several years ago my brother and sister-in-law lived in Dunblane. We passed the church on a walk round the area, but did not enter the church. At that time I was not aware of Highland Cathedral, but found it on a DVD I purchased. A young Scot was playing his bagpipes on Westminster Bridge in 2014. I asked him did I hear him playing that tune. He said yes and played it again for me. Naturally worth more than a gold coin donation! Semi-retired and living in PICTON, South Island, New Zealand.
Highland cathedral is a great tune and I love it this was played by the crematorium organists A's we were leaving the crematorium as a friend from people first was cremated before the tune at the end of the service Richard McGeechan ❤
It's just a great tune for the people who are living in dunblaine i feel that was a really nice one I like the fact that the pipes are the best for the rest of the tune Richard McGeechan ❤
I have told my children that when the time comes, this is the version I want at my funeral...failure to comply, and I will haunt their scrawny arses forever...
@@Will-ux1dg Well we are part of the Union by choice now - the last 3 times in FACT so go get some IrnBru and shortbread and have a wee lie down with yourself.

This song brings tears to my soul.
Every single time I need to relax, I come back here. Nice song, great singer.
I've given a thumbs up for your comment
However, regarding a singer, I don't think the piece needs anything more. 👍

Yeap you're certainly right about our lives and the great pipe band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Back then based in Fallingbostel Germany.
Awesome, a lovely tune to have for sure, may you have many years of happiness
That’s so great to hear. I joined the SCOTS DG in 1999 in Germany. We were always very proud of our hospitality.
I understand it was written by a German guy.
@@clairecopple4369 its wonderful regardless of composer, the guards and pipers played it in a video of military tattoo in bedfordshire in 90s
And her I feel sad or low I watch this video and the joy fills me with happiness. Thank you.

Absolutely. beautiful! Heavenly music! I love the pipes😍
As a drummer in a pipe band this by far my favourite tune I love it
Sadly most drummers play the beat too slowly
I love the presentation at the Tattoo, but this is for me, the most emotional presentation of all. Just so beautiful. Can't stop the tears! 💗💗💗
RIP daddy, we are proud of your ancestors.

Highland Cathedral reaches deep inside my core, to the depths of my soul. It always brings tears.
I have to watch this at least twice a day. It calms me from all the misery of life.
By far the best rendition of this beautiful tune
