Here you have a Dutch conductor, with a multinational orchestra and a Scottish pipe band playing a piece of music written by two Germans in order to evoke Scotland for a German Highland games and then adopted by Scotland as one of her own anthems. This is what you create when we come together
Well said John Paul! Cheers
Yup, just brilliant, isn't it.
It sure is cooperation & mutual respect very European. As a proud Scottish person this music is beautiful I’m greeting ( crying ) peace & love to the world fae Bonnie Scotland. 💙🏴💙.
John Paul Lusk. You perceptive person, im Black Watch 42nd (RHR) You made me cry.
"Flower of Scotland" is our anthem.
if they don't play this at my funeral I'm not going
Who are they? You've to decided it first. Have u told them?
Bwahahahahaha...love it!
Right there with you!!!

War mal als junges Mädchen in einem Irish Pub und hab diese Musik erlebt...damals noch mit den "Dubliners". Vergisst man nie!
Cried like a baby at the funeral of 6 of my fallen comrades in Falklands war. This was played and made me feel proud to be a Scotsman. We were in our full Highland dress at the war cemetery in the Falklands. Sent a shiver down my spine
I missed the Falklands. I left the Royal Marines in 1980 after serving 10yrs between 42 and 45 Cmdo.
I was gutted I missed it BUT, I shed a few tears when watching the fleet leave for the South Atlantic and I cried buckets when
I heard that 4 of my oppo's lost their lives, even as I write this I am shedding tears.
my dad was a chef at the depot Pirbright left in 77 but still knew men who served and fought in the Falklands

My mom, died of Cancer today. She was 58. I have this and a few other songs I’ve been playing on repeat but this one sort of sets the tone for the mood today. I as a Police Officer hear the pipes and drums at funerals gets me sappy but this brings me a sense my momma is at peace, resting eternally. For that I am also at peace. Smiling while typing this with lots of tears knowing my mom would also very much approve of this. Thank you for this beautiful song.
My condolences, I believe she's in peace now and is still there to listen to this song together with you
My condolences to you and your family 🕯🥀
My condolences. May she RIP🙏

This makes me feel patriotic for a country I’ve never been part of
Scotland does that to you.
I can tell you being from said country I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. The pipes, the band, it just does something to you.
The pipes are just a part of being scottish , a absoloutely love it , From Glasgow Here , & wow the pipes just make me stream tears , honestly no other feeling like it in the world . 🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💙💙💙

He may have the luck to live on in four beloved children. May he rest in peace ... all the best for you and your kids from germany. At the age of 49 with children aged 24 and 22 I think I know how you feel ... stay strong. There's always a future until the last day.

As well as being played at funerals, my daughter requested this masterpiece for walking down the aisle, it was awesome. The lady on the bagpipes deserves a lot of credit after recovering from cancer.

I have watched this video so many times over the last few years! Someone had a CD with it on, so I googled it!
As a German I feel a strong affection for the Scottish people and I don't know why
Vielleicht weil zwei Deutsche dieses Lied komponiert haben? 😃
Because your in our royalty
Had this played at a homecoming ceremony having returned form Afghanistan back in 2012. Following the church service we then marched down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, which was packed; tourists, locals, I looked to my right and saw the All Blacks squad (they were there to play Scotland that weekend) the whole mile was rammed... just incredible. What a piece of music.
Gyönyörű, megható, akár temetésen is előadhatnák.

Proud to be Scottish. Still brings a tear to my eyes. Beautiful

Я живу не в Шотландии, но как и вы, восхищаюсь этой музыкой! Настоящий талант не имеет национальности, это мировое достояние😊
It really should be Scotland's national anthem. Beautifully played.
Far bettr than that dirge "Flower of Scotland"
@@jimwolstencroft8441 True, but I would much rather have that than Scotland The Brave! :)
I understand the sentiment but it's unlikely , it not really being a Scottish song.
I agree many times better
I lost my mom last year as a family we have no connections with Scotland but mom liked the sound of bagpipes and the flower of Scotland with a piper. When I was told that we had a piper for moms funeral this was the first thing that come up when I searched for music. Mom love Andre Reiu so highland cathedral seemed the perfect choice to play at her funeral.
I am a French woman born in the southwest of France. So, I am culturally very far from Scotland. Very very far... But God, this music is moving. My little French heart just melted and I must have wiped away tears of emotion.
(Sorry for my very bac English language).
See if you can find La Boeme on the bagpipes - it's French, and even more beautiful! 💜

Hi i lost my dad last month we had this at his funeral he loved it xxx
I am Scottish, but never liked the drone on bagpipes, but this beautiful lady has got the perfect sound. I Know she is not Scottish, but would be welcome here anytime, I am sure.
Beautiful rendition of this Scottish gem reminded me Hong Kong was a British colony. Every year pipe bands from British Empire performed all kinds of unforgettable / memorable bagpipe music in the largest stadium. Sadly I miss those wonderful / powerful bagpipes no longer in HK.
The time Governor Chris Patten leave the Government House hours before the handover ceremony
As a Dutch guy i have to say.. this is one off the reasons i love Scotland........
Gänsehaut pur... Vorhin auf dem Konzert endlich auch mal live erleben dürfen..
Aye, it is indeed a Goosebumper highland music!!! I am no Scotsman, but the bagpipe notes sparks every nerve and spine cords. WOW, a masterpiece!!!
Absolutely love this piece of music, it brings tears to my eyes everytime. Just had to listen to it today after watching the funeral procession in Edinburgh on tv. Just want to say...from a Brit🏴...THANKYOU SCOTLAND 🏴 for looking after the late Queen Elizabeth II so respectfully 🇬🇧 You've done yourselves proud 🏴
LONG LIVE THE KING
She was our Queen and we loved her. Long live the King, long may Charles reign.

It is heavenly music that calls to the soul.
For Scotland and its people
Their swords rang out from every glen
Blood spilled freely by our bravest men
who died for something worth more to them
For Scotland and its people.
(Chorus)
We who now must follow them
Shall we do the same again
Fight and die for freedom still
or bow on bended knee.
Scotland's people are the greatest kind
a friend to all with ties that bind
A people yet both fierce and kind
For Scotland and its people.
Time for Scots to raise their eyes
Let their talents gain their prize
Raise their banner in the world's eyes
For Scotland and its people.
