When I heard for the first time the sound of the bagpipes I loved it very much, later on I found out that my greatgrandmother Maria Wilhelmina Francoijs born Ross must have been the reason why. Her ancesters came from Scotland William Ross was a corporal in the army of general Mackay who came to The Netherlands in 1774.

I am a proud Scot. I am also delighted that this beautiful tune was composed by Ulrich and Michael. Music transcends borders. A beacon, perhaps, in these troubled times!!!
As an American I often wonder when I hear the pipes being played, if the people of Scotland realize realize that the pipes are played all over the world. This is a United States Air Force band playing a song that has deep meaning to the Scots. Attend a funeral in the US for a fallen police officer, fire fighter, etc., and you’ll hear a pipe and drum corp. I hope it makes our Scottish brothers and sisters proud.
Highland Cathedral being performed by the soldiers and the MOTAB.. I am so delightful to this presentation. It is a testament of a British origin of the American people.. A great nation founded by the British but cultivated on its destiny for the cause of human freedom, liberty and democracy...GOD bless the USA and GOD save the King........
This amazing video only has 5 comments? Wow, I've never heard anything in my life so happy and sad at the same time. This video is amazing, wish I was there!
As a piper myself I've performed this piece many times solo and with Pipe Organ and with Brass Ensemble and this version is lovely! The pipes are nicely in tune, which of course is essential. And thank you for playing the timing in the 2nd part correctly! So many pipers do odd pointing of the rhythm there. I wish they would have tuned their Bass Drum however.
I first learned of this wonderful music just a few years ago when asked to play it during a Wedding. I love it all the more in this fabulous setting within the walls of the Tabernacle in Salt Lake with Organ and Choir making their entrances right on cue. BEAUTIFUL!! And, thank you, ALL!! (Don't fail to miss Sgt-Mike Smith's important statement below which starts with the words "This is so memorable . . . "
This NOT aTraditional Scottish air, it was written by two Germans, Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb in 1982 and will never leave a drt eye. Thanks Guys, the pipes are International
Traditional? Give it another six decades! And give a listen to the Scotland's Three Tenors vocal performance with the Scotland Fiddle Orchestra. Right here on TH-cam.
Hi Tom, listen to Flower of Scotland being sung at Murrafied Rugby Stadium, Edinburgh. This is a folk song written by a Scottish legend, which speaks volumes and is the adopted National Anthem for Scotland. Have a listen to it and tell me what you think?
This needs to be sung with the lyrics. They are so patriotic regardless and to me transcends Scottish patriotism but encompasses all patriotism as opposed to one world government push that wants to get rid of patriotism and sovereignty of individual nations.
As an Ex Royal Scots Dragoon Guard ( Whos Regiment had the hit with this and Amazing Grace)..That the Bagpipe is the ONLY musical instrument,..Not Drums,,Not Bugles..Not Flutes or Fyfes The Bagpipe is the Only one classed as a weapon of War.....According to British history and is Still in effect Today.
"Traditional, arr. Chad Staffey"? The term "traditional" implies that the composer is anonymous, This piece, composed by two Germans in 1982, is therefore hardly "traditional".
What ever the Americans do they do well. But on our part let us sow the seeds of love and tolerance very deep so that there is.no more pain inflicted by man upon man.Americans do everything intellegengly.

Sgtmike Smith makes a statement likely based on his experience with this band. Hrh Jrd doubts Mr Smith based on nothing other than political bias. I think I know which one is more credible here. Sad that Hrh appears to base everything on emotional bias instead of information.

I agree, the drum lacks conviction and the pipes have no command.
You are agreeing with yourself, FYI
