Thousands of years post nuclear war creates mutant animals that become Pokemon and society re-establishes and advances enough to make Pokeballs. Potions are basically aerosol Stimpaks. Love your contents, you know your stuff, you even made me start fallout 76 back. There is a small note about the overseer, he had a way out, but his way out was gone. 250 weeks is roughly 5 years, Nina the main scientist was eliminated in year 80 from the logs we found, so which means, they needed to fill the quota for almost almost 2 years, which without Nina became almost impossible. I'm just imagining what Erik saw in the first weeks where credits have accumulated over 100. He must have been questioning the morality of Vault-Tec by that point. Man, if only there were physical electrical plugs to a maniacal super computer in the back of those banks.
Wow this is over a two hour video! That’s a lot of terminals. I know it has to be the terminals before I’m even 15 minutes in, cuz when I was playing this I set out to read them all too, and it took me around that long to get them all too plus looting and exploring. I didn’t actually time myself but it felt like I was in that vault for weeks of in game time.😅
I think maybe the "vivisection"-entry in Blackburn's terminal is a nod to H. G. Wells' Island of Doctor Moreau. In the novel, Dr. Moreau's experiments with making hybrid creatures are centered on vivisection (the surgical opening up and manipulating the body-systems of a live test subject), which Moreau has spend his academic life refining and regards as a scientific revolution that will elevate science beyond the mystery of life and death.
You missed the accidental duplicate of Floyd's Key in the reactor room. It opens his box at Crimson Prospect, which is Blood Eagle territory, so it there is a lore reason to justify it being there.
I figured Nina escaped but ended up dead anyway. I assumed the pip boy we found was hers. I also have to say Scribe Valdez is my favorite of the 3 Brotherhood main characters. Has the best personality and actually helps in a fight.
Dr. Blackburn is actually written well enough. He was obviously traumatized by what was happening in his previous company of employment and usually people on a path of redemption who are traumatized end up having very twisted logic on how to make things better. This is just a result of that
He was the main villain all along, I didn't see that coming either. Another "bad" thinking he knows whats best for the community while his actions make him the ultimate menace. Pity really!
I think literally ALL of the vaults can be summed up in this single line from G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra: "Science... Requires sacrifice." - Alexander McCullen.
I think the point of the vault was not experimenting on animals, but on people - maybe they wanted to see how long it took for brilliant scientists to buckle under the pressure of quota increases and the threat of death, if their real objective was to experiment on animals, they'd at least supply them with crews, instead they made this massive vault for just 5 people and thousands of test subjects.
1:13:49 wouldn't it be funny if Tally Lang is the one who turned the blood eagles to the Rusty Eagles for the Test Your Strength event that is coming up soon.
It's like fallout 1 all over again dr Blackburn is the master and the hell cat mercenaries are his super mutant army and vault 96 is like the mariposa military base it feels like a fallout 1 reference
I think Dr Blackburn is a really interesting character, and pretty well-written by the team at Bethesda. His goal is is very noble - wanting to make life easier for the people of the wasteland, more true to the original projects purpose. However he's so misguided and deluded in his approach that instead of modifying crops and other food sources to be radiation resistant so they're safe to eat without the risk of radiation, he's decided its people who need to be modified instead. Choosing to obsess only on the unethical human modification instead of the safer food modification is his downfall.

I never know how to respond to these videos. 1) Thanks Oxhorn for delving into the lore, and exploring all those conversation options I never did. There's a lot to these quests than you can see in a single playthrough. 2) FOR CRYING OUT LOUD FIX YOUR ARMOR!
TBF the professor said if there was such an advanced virus that could take over a vault mainframe that the student's attempts at fail safes would be useless anyway.
Mate I love your fallout vids no matter if Im busy Ill always throw them on when they drop. they should get you involved with the game even just a voice of a character 😁👍🏻
I like your videos, at least on Fallout(s), lol. Your straight-man melodramatic narration with those computer logs/reports and such is entertaining. To me, the game almost looks and sounds like a Terry Pratchett novel, lol.
Oxhorn should make a character just like him but in some power armor, with a mighty beard, cigar and bowler hat to top it off. Think it would be a cool playthrough for any fallout game.
I would love to see you in a future fallout game as a character, like a trader or a radio dj...or even just your voice would be cool..big fan,i sometimes just listen to your stories on the train.i have to say that i saw your videos before i even played any fallout game,i think it was before fallout 4 came out,i got fallout 3 and new vegas,my top 5 favourite games is fallout 3 and 4,skyrim and oblivion and mount and blade bannerlord..
It's a nice touch that the teleportation fusion mishap involved a bloatfly... Dr. Blackburn reminds me of Weston from C. S. Lewis's Space Trilogy. He uses love of "humanity" to justify all manner of crimes against specific humans.
The professor's remark on vault tec's "high ethical standards" seems to paint a rather unnerving and twisted image of what vault tec did with their university...it appears that even the professors were not aware of vault tec's real motivations and goals...they believed in the outward friendly demeanor and blindly considered it truth...they likely never heard of what vault tec's true intentions were. That's just utterly horrifying to think about...the suits were even willing to lie to their own professors...nobody other than those who were overseers, lab security, that sort thing in the vaults, were likely aware the true purpose of these chambers...fuck you vault tec...you are well and truly monstrous...
"High ethical standards" they say, as they force the vault scientists to meet ever increasing work requirements or else the residents the only people who could continue the vaults only goal are eliminated. They sure did regret that their job applications were accepted.
In Fallout 76, if you go to Vault-Tec University, there are a series of logs and holotapes found during the mission there (Overseer, Overseen) where some student (I think a graduate student going for their masters or Phd) had made a really cool experiment involving food paste that can be extremely beneficial to people in vaults and in general, and the Dean of the university (who is a freaking monster, a truly horrible person) decides to alter the experiment where the paste will actually KILL some of the people eating it (he altered it and made it where it eventually hardens the arteries and causes a fatal reaction) and warps the experiment into something far more sinister. The experiment was altered by the dean only a few weeks before the nukes fell and the death component of the paste started kicking in around the time the nukes dropped... almost as if the Dean knew the exact date those nukes were going to drop. Not too much revealed about the Dean specifically, (but we do know that his name is Harland Elliot) but it's strongly implied he was one of the main people in charge of Vault-Tec... one of the people in charge taking experiments done by students, professors, etc, and warping them into these twisted, screwed up experiments. The exact reasons are unknown in regards to WHY the hell they were doing this, but it is known for certain that the Dean and whoever else in charge were completely EVIL and DERANGED maniacs in positions of power).
@@johnpenguinthe3rd13I recall this. The dean must have actually been in cahoots with one of the vault tec scientists and, wanted to push his students to the limit...not counting on the apocalypse to happen so soon...
THE GREATER GOOD! "Stanford is the best village nicholas"... "I'm disappointed you can't see the bigger picture"... (Kinda gutted you did Tally lang like that)...
1:00:20 A 257% reduction? So it got rid of all of the impact of radiation once... Then it did it again? Then it did it also 57%, a little over half? Gotta love when Bethesda just makes stuff up
I only just realized this was a live recording - despite your TH-cam profile ALSO having your pic - my mental image of you was vastly different XD XD XD Proves how much I listen to your channel than watch as I drive
No one else seem to realize that the terminal states that the Overseeer is the one to determine the punishment for not meeting the quota's including withdrawal of food or other resources intimidation violence or execution. 2:20:40 ..... so he's the one who chose the robots to kill them if they didn't meet the quotas so it doesn't make any sense that he had to make that computer virus to try and escape when he could have chose any other option for punishment then they wouldn't have been murdered. he could have then secretly worked on the virus to help them all escape without telling anyone and being caught and killed anyway.
That "Best and Brightest" line gets thrown around so much in the game I do think the NPCs are mocking us... Is there a chance of the Wasteland games getting the Oxhorn treatment? At least the first one would be great as it's the uncle of Fallouts.
Do you think there is a lore reason why the Brotherhood don't occupy Vault 96 after the quest? Or do we just chalk it up to they want it to stay a dungeon, so keep the Blood Eagles there?
I think the crystals are specimens encased in ice. The ice is to thick/cloudy to see what the specimen is and the floating could be result of upwardly circulating cryogenic fluid suspending the crystal.

I love the Longer content that’s not streaming!
Kiitos!
Loved the Shawn of the dead clip thrown in there. The greater good lol
Hot Fuzz actually but I said same thing lol
@@bhart3321 lol yes indeed you are correct fine commenter.
Oxhorn should make a character just like him but in some power armor, with a mighty beard, cigar and bowler hat to top it off. Think it would be a cool playthrough for any fallout game.
@Oxhorn, the bloatfly was a The Fly reference.
@ 1:42:30 June 31st does not exist....typo in terminal or ~slow eeeeerie music~ .....canon calendar change in FO4?
@@Tundraviper41 once the great war came, they had no choice anymore...
I like the layout of this vault so much idk why
1:00:20 A 257% reduction? So it got rid of all of the impact of radiation once... Then it did it again? Then it did it also 57%, a little over half?
Gotta love when Bethesda just makes stuff up
I only just realized this was a live recording - despite your TH-cam profile ALSO having your pic - my mental image of you was vastly different XD XD XD
Proves how much I listen to your channel than watch as I drive
Love your vault videos
Another great video, thanks Ox, love your videos, please make more, 👍😎
2 hours 35 minutes? thx man
Man they sure love the guy who voiced Joshua Graham. 😂 been using him since FNV
Wahooooo! Worth the wait. Much love from oxetes, and we shall be patient for new merch.
Got to catch em all Vault 96mon
1:45:47 that got me, right there.
That "Best and Brightest" line gets thrown around so much in the game I do think the NPCs are mocking us...
Is there a chance of the Wasteland games getting the Oxhorn treatment? At least the first one would be great as it's the uncle of Fallouts.
Ready for this one
Oxhorn is the 🐐
That pipe is boss, dude! First time I've seen you with it. More please :)
Do you think there is a lore reason why the Brotherhood don't occupy Vault 96 after the quest? Or do we just chalk it up to they want it to stay a dungeon, so keep the Blood Eagles there?
Scribe Valdez: "We survived"
Vault 96 equating to Stockholm Syndrome, but with automated elimination.
That's Vault-Tec, babyyyy!~
So, Joshua Graham perfected the FEV in Appalachia.
Used to watch your videos almost ten years ago when I was doing my fallout 3 play through, over a thousand hours banked in that game
Best time of my life playing fallout 3 back when it came out around 2010.
I think the crystals are specimens encased in ice. The ice is to thick/cloudy to see what the specimen is and the floating could be result of upwardly circulating cryogenic fluid suspending the crystal.
Vault lore is the best lore
