Did you see the gameplay for Star Force? It's almost identical to Astro Warrior. It makes me really want to get it and try it out. The enemy patterns, designs, the backgrounds, the ability to blow up stuff... it is all just like Astro Warrior.
I thought you were drunk at first reading this comment as I had no idea what you were talking about but then I looked up game and you're right! It looks pretty good, I had never heard of it before and I thought it was an olympic game from the title! Haha thanks for watching buddy.
@TigerChainsawVideoGames I mean I was probably tired when I wrote the comment. I only got to play it on the 3DS as it was on the virtual console for that system. Really fun but challenging
Honestly, out of all of these, Sky Kid is probably the best one here. 1942 is a classic, but in the arcades lol. The sequel, 1943, was a MUCH better NES port. One shoot-em-up I always loved on the NES was Silk Worm...heavily underappreciated game. Good stuff, TC!
Nice list! We're going to have to fight for your comment on 1942! How dare you say that you didn't like it! LOL! Seriously yes the sound effects were really annoying and the only reason why I like it is because of nostalgia! I had never heard of Sqoon but it looks frenetic but also fun! That's why I like watching your content. Even at my age I'm still learning something new! Great video and keep up the good work!
Uh Oh! LOL, 1942 my guy... those sound effects are terrible!! But, nostalgia gets the best of all of us. There are games I love that are purely based on my childhood. Pretty cool to hear you enjoyed it growing up. Sqoon looks very unique, I like the aspect of rescuing people in it. Thanks, I love discovering new games and I hope others do too through my videos.
Always nice to see the humble beginnings of a certain genre on a system. Some of these I’ve never heard of, looking forward to a follow up with this my friend! Nice vid as always!
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames very unique! You always help build lists for me for days when I’m sitting here going “what should I play” surrounded by games lol
Whoa, those were abrasive sound effects! I didn't really get into Shmups until I was a teen, so I missed most of these on NES. I guess the kids in L.A. didn't own these either, because I did so many cartridge swaps over weekends with school mates, but I literally had played 0 of these, lol
Wow, I'm shocked you haven't heard of some of these games. 1942 is pretty famous, but the one I'm most shocked at is Gradius! Did you see, it had floating Easter Isle Heads in it! Your mom totally would have let you play that. You could have convinced her it was developed by C-SPAN and takes you through a journey through space with historical objects and landmarks. Oh well... Thanks for watching buddy.
Dude, I adore Gradius! So much fun, great challenge, and the music is still stellar. Gotta say, even growing up with the gane Tiger-Heli, it never grabbed me and I just couldn't get into it.
I've heard some very unfavorable things about Tiger-Heli. Gradius is a pretty awesome game, just like the person that left this comment. Thanks for watching!
Shoot em ups can be fun to play, I personally got the high score on Asteroids at the arcade a few weeks ago nbd 💁🏻♀️. Also sky kid really annoys me that it scrolls right to left so I would not play that strictly for that reason. Nice video
Don't you also have the high score for a Simpsons Bowling game too? Wow, you must be quite the gamer. Sky Kid is quite unique, you should play it before you knock it! Thanks for watching!
I'll have to check out sky kid, looks like an interesting game. I recently finished sqoon. I recommend skipping that game. It is a s*** game. I recommend crisis force. I don't know if it counts since it's famicom only, but it's a sweet game.
LOL Sqoon didn't look too bad to me, but I'll take your advice. Crisis Force I haven't heard of probably because it's on the famicom, but I will for sure emulate it if I have the time. Thanks for watching!
I was just discussing the earliest NES Shoot Em Ups, I'll showcase more of them later. Typically, I like to show the evolution of a genre on a console. Thanks for watching!
1942 is a terrible port. 1943 fixed everything wrong. Section Z is a terrible game and Tiger Heli may be the worst shooter on the NES.

Summer Carnival 92 or Recca is so much fun on the NES.
I really need to try those games.

I don't think I've heard of Silk Worm. I'll have to check that one out! Thanks for watching, GCG.

Sky Kid was one that I discovered when researching for this video. It looks pretty unique. Thanks for watching buddy!

Section Z was pretty unique, I liked it. I was obsessed with Star Force!! Gradius, 1943 excellent for the time. the memories!
Star Force is one I really want to play soon. It reminds me a lot of Astro Warrior on the SMS. Thanks for watching!

Love a good shump! Gradius was my jam great video bro!
Heck yeah my guy! I love this genre. Gradius is so dope. Thanks for watching.

Those "Easter Island" heads are properly known as "Moai." (Pronounced Moe eye)
Neat! I never knew that. Thanks for watching.
Nice picks Seth!😊
Thanks buddy! There's some pretty cool ones on this list.
Pew pew are fun nice list but how come no silver surfer or thunder birds 😂
LOL Silver Surfer is one I've heard insane things about. I'd love to try it out myself sometime.

Poorly curated games. Sqoon? Red Baron? Come on...
