Those NES games were pretty wild, but I'm so glad you enjoyed this blast from the past! I haven't been into wrestling for awhile now but I appreciate all the crazy stuff they can do athletically. Let me know when the bra and panty matches come back ; )
Tecmo World Wrestling is really good. I like all 4 WWF games, but Tecmo and Pro Wrestling are definitely the cream of the crop (and the cream always rises to the top, Yeeeeah!). I kinda hate Tag Team Wrestling, and no matter how much I want to like it, MUSCLE is really bad. WCW I also would like to enjoy, but I just don't. I don't think you missed any of the North American releases. Would loved to hear your opinions more in-depth!
I might have to do a follow-up video to get more in-depth on these games with more of my thoughts on them. I do reviews on games where I share my personal experiences with them and give them a score. Those are tons of fun to create, but I like doing these too because it gives me ideas on games I should play next. Thanks for watching and dropping a kind comment!
I definitely would say tecmo was my favorite as a kid. I really like WCW as well. I played most of these games but I never played muscle and it looks like I did okay not playing it. And I actually did not know about the last WWF game. Somehow I never even heard of it
It's really cool to see these NES wrestling games to see what would become of them later on. Not a fan of current wrestling games, but Gen 5-7 wrestling games is where it's at
I'm with you and that Gen 5-7 is the best era for the wrestling games. So much fun back then! Bro, you need to go check out my Stella Glow review if you haven't yet. There are some wild parts in it that I think you will appreciate 😂😂😂😂😂
I never realized how many Wrestling games were on the NES. I only played Pro Wrestling and used to really enjoy that one. Tecmo World Wrestling looks like the best one from the list, and I definitely want to try that one! Steel Cage Challenge and King of the Ring look like the weakest of the bunch lol. Great video, TC!
Just a reminder, the creator of NES Pro Wrestling went on to create the Fire Pro Wrestling franchise, in which "Fire Pro Wrestling World" can be played on the PlayStation 4 or Steam PC (which has a pretty deep Workshop with a lot of user created content). The history alone is one of those "rabbit holes" that leads to some interesting useless knowledge, but does describe the inner workings of both video games and pro wrestling.
That’s a good point, the history of these wrestling games is really interesting. Thank you for watching and dropping all that knowledge. It's fun to see how far they've came.
The SNES exclusive "Natsume Championship Wrestling" was the first spiritual successor to "Pro Wrestling". The "Fire Pro Wrestling" series debuted on PS1 after it did.
Awesome list! Tag Team Wrestling and Pro Wrestling are amazing games! My cousin and I have played them constantly as he used to own TTW, and I had Pro Wrestling, so it was part of the playing rotation when we were kids! I've never played Tecmo Wrestling, but it looks good, so I will have to look it up! Great video and keep up the good work!
That's always cool when I hear memories from you about when you were playing these games. It's awesome to know you grew up playing these. Tecmo Wrestling stood out to me too. It looks pretty good! Thanks for watching.
1. Tecmo World Wrestling 2. Pro Wrestling 3. WCW Wrestling 4. WWF Wrestlemania Challenge 5. M.U.S.C.L.E 6. WWF Wrestlemania 7. Tag Team Wrestling WWF was extremely lazy and cheap with the development of it's NES properties. It's SNES offerings were better but still not great. Their PS1/N64 offerings from Acclaim were solid, but they paled in comparison to WCW's THQ titles. So, Vince outbid WCW for the right to license THQ's games; and WWF/E games have been drastically improved since.
Some of these look pretty fun! As a big fan of Saturday Night Slammasters, I see a lot of similarities in a few of these games that would make them worth checking out. Nice video!
Tecmo World Wrestling was the coolest wrestling NES ever because of the move list, commentary, and animation. I'm starting to think that when Cesaro was in WWE got the spinning move from the NES wrestling game.
I agree, Tecmo World Wrestling was a gem! That was a great wrestling game for its time. I love the announcer in it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Incorrect. I own all of them, and while Tecmo is definitely good, Pro Wrestling is fantastic. I honestly don't think any of the WWF ones are worth playing, except hearing the 8 bit entrance music is awesome. WCW is good, just dumb how everyone has those stupid tights. I want to like M.U.S.C.L.E because of the nostalgia as it was the first one I played, but it's bad. And Tag Team is bad too.
The 80s were a blur... to be fair, I was pretty young :P 1:02 wait, does MUSCLE really stand for that, or did you make this up? I couldn't tell if you were joking. I had to google it, lol. That's funny. I had no idea they'd made an acronym. 1:47 I know it's dated now, but Tag Team wrestling's graphics actually look pretty good 3:09 WrestleMania is one I did cartridge swap for, so I at least had played this a bit as a kid. I loved "The Princess Bride" so I was super excited to play as Andre the Giant 😀 4:30 the Tecmo games were usually good quality. This one doesn't look familiar to me, so I must not have had any school-mates who had it to cartridge swap with 6:25 ooh, this one looks great! I don't think I played this one though, only the older WrestleMania 7:10 wow, there are so many similar ones it's hard to keep them straight. I'm sure it's easier if you are a wrestling fan, because you'd know that game X has wrestler Y and that makes it different 8:03 I get that it's easier to make a fair game this way, but without custom moves it feels less cool Excellent countdown as always! Well researched too! I'd have been scared to talk about any of those games, since they were similar enough to each other that I'd be worried I'd swap factoids, lol
Lol yeah I was kinda surprised by that acronym too! 💪 Tecmo I think is the best from the bunch. Their sports games were very polished back then and you could always expect a certain level of quality. It was nice to see their wrestling game match their brand. Hahaha that is so neat, I can picture little Cynic right now firing it up excited to play Andre the Giant! I agree that you need custom moves in a wrestling game. Without them, what makes the wrestlers separate besides the looks? That's boring! The wrestling genre is a popular one, but I feel bad for gamers with a NES. There were not a lot of quality ones despite there being a few to choose from. Thanks for watching buddy!
Great video! The only one I can recall playing as a kid is Tecmo World Wrestling and I've played Pro-Wrestling since then. The WCW game actually looks pretty interesting and I'd like to give it a try. It's probably still better than the recent WWE 2K games or AEW Fight Forever, which I found very disappointing.
I completely agree with you about the recent wrestling games, those are rough! Tecmo World Wrestling seems to be the best of the bunch. Tecmo Sports games back then were really polished. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
My fav was the WCW one, I found it for rent at a video rental store. took a bit to figure it out because it only came with the game, they didn't have anything on the rental box on how to play. I looked at every store that sold Nes games for it and not even Toys R Us had it :( months later I found a used copy in a pawnshop for 20.00"full boxed" was one of my favorite solo games to play
To be honest. I've been a wrestling fan since 1990. As for Wrestling video games. Only Pro Wrestling and Tecmo World Wrestling are great wrestling games. Wrestlemania was a DUD. Only upside for that was that only Hogan could slam Andre.
I think it would be so fun to go to a live wrestling event and just get silly. Cherry was so disappointed that we will be missing m1dget wrestling. It's coming in November but we will be in Vegas. She instantly thought of you and your love of that type of wrestling.
My opinion on those I've played: MUSCLE - Not bad but kind of a weird game. I like when you go on you get an icy ring and one with electrified ropes. Also like when the characters have special moves. Pro Wrestling - Decent. Not many superstars but at least control works well. Not the best but certainly not the worst. WWF Wrestlemania - worst wrestling game I've ever played. Fluent controls are non-existent and getting a pinfall is a problematic itself. The game is unenjoyable and unplayable. Haven't played this game in nearly 30 years and do not intend to again. WCW Wrestling - Seemed okay but did not play it enough. I need to play this more before I give a valid opinion of it. WWF Wrestlemania Challenge - Best NES Wrestling game. Great controls and great move selection by superstars provided. Survivor Series mode is awesome.
Awesome input! This is what I hope for in the videos that I make. It's fun to hear what everyone else thinks about the games. Good to hear you had played so many of these. Thanks for watching!
the NES is a terrible matchup for wrestling style games. They look bad, they are incredibly difficult, they just are not fun in any way. The SNES however, works. and the N64 is still the golden era of wrestling games. Engines are way better than even today's graphics-obsessed 2K era.
I agree it was a little rough to begin with haha. Something that I tend to think about is the limited buttons that the NES had. There were only four fighting games released on the console and it makes me think that with more buttons wrestling games could have been a little bit better too. Thanks for watching!
Like Jim Cornette would say, the "best" wrestling game on the NES is like being the nicest guy in prison. Almost all of them are awful, and the only reason they're remembered is nostalgia because it was all we had at the time. And a correction about Steel Cage Challenge, which I owned and played extensively back in the day: there are no signature moves. Everyone has the exact same moveset whether you're Bret Hart or the Undertaker. It also had some of the most unresponsive controls I've ever experienced in a wrestling game.
Oh man that's a great analogy 😅😂I feel that a lot of gamers are saying some pretty bad things about these games. Thanks for the correction, that must have snuck on by me! Appreciate you watching and dropping a comment.
Awesome video. As a huge pro wrestling fan, this was a delight to see how far wrestling games have come
Those NES games were pretty wild, but I'm so glad you enjoyed this blast from the past! I haven't been into wrestling for awhile now but I appreciate all the crazy stuff they can do athletically. Let me know when the bra and panty matches come back ; )

@@brianspain763 Fun to discover new games! Thanks for watching.
I watch wrestling since 1992/93, but I don't know why this passion never translated to videogames.
Great video!
Awesome to hear you've enjoyed wrestling for so long! Sounds like a lot of the games back then were duds. Thanks for watching.
WCW is one of the best games ever, never mind just wrestling games. I shocked to find out it wasn't on The NES Classic, and isn't on The Switch.
Seems like there are a lot of fans for WCW! Awesome to hear it. Thanks for watching.
It's really cool to see these NES wrestling games to see what would become of them later on. Not a fan of current wrestling games, but Gen 5-7 wrestling games is where it's at

I think Tecmo World Wrestling looks the best to me too. Cool to hear you played Pro Wrestling as a kid. Thanks for watching, GCG.
Crazy how wcws ONLY nes game has a better game then ALL wwf nes games.
Haha yeah the WWF games were not of high quality. Thanks for watching!

There is a Pro-Wrestling game that came out on the Famicom but we never got outside of Japan called Toukon Club.
That's pretty neat, I wish we would have gotten in outside of Japan. Thanks for watching!
1. Tecmo World Wrestling
2. Pro Wrestling
3. WCW Wrestling
4. WWF Wrestlemania Challenge
5. M.U.S.C.L.E
6. WWF Wrestlemania
7. Tag Team Wrestling

1:10 whoa Kin Korn Karn was in this game too.😂
Lol, you never know who you're gonna find in these games! Thanks for watching.

Yeah Slam Masters is one of the GOATs! Glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks for watching... but I can kick your butt at Slam Masters!
I bought the Wrestlemania game back in the day. Man I can still smell that turd to this day
Hahaha there seem to be a lot of stinkers in this genre for the NES. Thanks for watching!
Fire Pro Wrestling is still...lit (get it?).
😅😂😆 Gotta love a dad joke.
Enjoyed this one! I never played any wrestling games on NES, but on PS1 I had played one that was apart of a demo disc. Good times though.

Tecmo World Wrestling was the coolest wrestling NES ever because of the move list, commentary, and animation.
