The granddaddy of Kaiju-based fighting games was an early Neo Geo hit for SNK, and instantly became a favorite with any kid who longed to fight as a rubber-suit monster over miniatures of Japanese cities. Great stuff!
And it paved the way for other Neo-Geo favorites like NAM-1975, Metal Slug, Magician Lord, World Heroes, Ghost Pilots, Robo Army, Fatal Fury, Bust-A-Move, Xtreme Rally, Samurai Shodown and Neo Turf Masters, among others!
Half the time we were just there to play just for the monsters stomp as many buildings as possible, the other half we had no idea what we were doing. But it was a lot of fun =)
I remember my Dad buying me this game at a local Fleamarket when i was like 8. Loved it! Wasn't really good at it though xD But sometimes i would just play on 2P and then walk around the Stages and destroy the place :D
I did exactly the same, just destroying the whole Level^^ They should have made some kind of beat em up. Got it even full in Box back then, the Box Art is so good :D
I remember playing this game as a child and that Game Over screen scared the crap out of me back then. And the Hi-Score screen is pretty terrifying too.
It was also a bit more messed up in the original arcade version: the reporter gets crushed by the falling debris and there's a hand that sticks out of the destroyed car in the Game Over screen.
I remember this game when I was about 9 around ‘92-93!😀 My mom use to take me to the video store on Friday nights and I would rent it for the weekend to play on SNES! Great times!☺️
Same here. Rented it multiple times in the mid 90s and loved it but completely forgot about it till I watched the AVGN video about it on Neo Geo. So nostalgic
King of the monsters was great, due to the references of Godzilla, King Kong, Hedorah, Megalon (probably) and Ultraman. Too bad in the ports, we only get four Monsters instead of six in the arcade version.
Yo de niño jugaba pocas veces el juego junto a su secuela y al ver este video por un momento pensé que estaba viendo a Godzilla, al Colosso, Super Escarabajo y Ant Man jajajaja
I’ve owned this game since a kid, and still have my original copy. I love SNES, but this game blows so bad. If you like to play trash, then buy it. Otherwise it’s simply part of a collection.

@@blackyoshi1230There's nothing messed up about that b
That intro gave me flashbacks. The music is hilarious also.
Oh God I remember playing this as a kid in the 90s but couldn't remember the name until I just seen "king of the monsters 2" by AVGN
Love the Arcade version! This was a great game. I wish a Godzilla version of this was out
Check out Godzilla Domination for the Gameboy Advance.
I remember playing this on an arcade at Safeway when I was little!

These Neo Geo ports were not great, but for those of us without the system, it was either this or nothing!
the reason neo geo version is suck because of its difficult especially kotm 2
The music is better in this SNES version... And this port has arguably more charm

Jogava muito com meu falecido irmão isso aí na infância.
Que saudades
Caramba cara. Não tava esperando por essa. Meus pêsames.
Got this game Christmas of 1992 with my Super Nintendo. My younger sister still resents all the times I made her play it with me just to kick her ass
Man. I loved this game. I played it all the time as a kid, until someone stole it from me. =(
This game turned me into a psychopath
Que nostalgia

Woo was based on King Kong and Geon was based on Godzilla

Does anyone know who the SNES composer is?
No.
Press y and dont pass number 1.
Please Tips. Thanks.
GWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
do u have a neo Geo SYSTEM?
Not the console, but I have a 4-slot MVS cabinet
But what if Oak Haven cabins in Tennessee have Neo-Geo cabinets next to Multicade cabinets in gamerooms?!
+Dana Long Then they would definitely have more than I could fit in my living room
I had it when I waz 9, the only kid in COMPTON with it😘.
[I am not your average nigga]
Is this a Godzilla game?
