The military is not a normal job. It's a 24/7/365 career. Just follow instructions with a good attitude. Be physically and mentally fit. You will be taught what is needed. Everything done is with a purpose. Nothing is personal.
Toward the end of boot camp we were paid cash. You had to remain quiet in the pay line. When your turn came you signed your first two initials and your last name. When I got to the back of the line after getting paid. I told one of the other guys excitedly “And we get paid for this, too!” It was actually getting fun. I never regretted joining Victor-107, July 1980
@@1notgilty I've heard it described that way sometimes. There were aspects that were fun, but I wouldn't classify the overall experience as fun, for me.
Just graduated coast guard boot camp.. the hardest day of that first week for me was that long day in medical. They had us in our PT gear in the dental waiting room, and they had the AC turned to like 55 degrees at most. We were there for 4 hours shivering.. it was absolute hell. Not being able to move while shivering for hours on end. That was actually one of the worst days I experienced in boot camp, which is crazy to say because we weren’t smoked at all.
Jus graduated ZULU-2Ø3 it wasn’t easy but my shipmates and I got through it. We were aloud to watch FoxTrot-2Ø4 ship in from the busses it was great lol.
I ship out august 15th. I feel like it might be ironic but the thing I’m actually most scared about is getting my blood taken with the shot. It just hurt during meps
this was not what my first week in forming company was like. i went through Cape May in September 1963 and boot camp was eight weeks longer than it is now. it was a much diffrent time and the Coast Guard was a much diffrent service than it is today. we had some guys who went through boot camp and had volunteered for charlie foxtrot which sent them on to Paris Island to train with the U S Marines for another eight weeks. i think Charlie Foxtrot stood for coastal forces. we still had Cuba on our minds in 1963. the thing is these guys were some of us who went to Vietnam in 1965 for operation market time patrol.
Restrooms do not exist. Places of toiletries/showers are referred to as a "head" and are just an extension of the squad bay - I remember a number of lucky souls being asked politely to climb fully clothed into a toilet bowl and shout "I am a worthless turd and need to be flushed" and then commanded to "flush themselves" by eager CCs as we all gathered round to watch. Additionally, Mr. CC will loudly announce the first day - I can shit, shower, shave, and grab a piece of a## in 20 minutes! Does that give you an idea what you are dealing with?
i’m really looking forward to joining after i graduate high school this year. only part i’m nervous about is the asvab as i’m not good at high school formulas in the slightest lmaooo

You'll report that Tuesday the 30th, get picked up by your CC's that Friday the 2nd, and graduate 22March. Looks like you're meeting your CCs on Groundhog Day. Hopefully you don't re-live THAT day over and over 😂.
Do you know if you go as a BM can you transfer to ME ? And also how likely is going to PSU as a BM and be a law enforcement as such. 🙏🏼 thank you 🙏🏼 God Bless you man
@CGCareerCentral Just saw on another video they do still have it but they changed the name of it. I got put into PEP and ended up staying an extra week because i had pictures of my family in my classroom folder and they found them. I remember the night we got there or maybe the second night they marched the PEP guys into our barracks and proceeded to PT them in front of us until they almost died. They told us all about PEP and how we didn't want to end up there but that inevitably some of us would. I did lol but i made it.
@CGCcareercentral am I available to have a beard? Because of my catholic Gypsy beliefs I can’t fully shaved but I can have it as low as possible. I really want to join the coast guard

Good luck! As I recall they always just asked us for our last 4 of our Social. If you bring your Social Security Card my guess is they would hold it with your other personal belongings until training was complete.
If youre thinking on joining at 27, Id say go for it. I joined at 28 and its been a fun experience sofar. Do you remember how m the restrooms were like, were there stalls, or just a room with toilets and sinks?
I was having the same question 😂
There were private stalls. Open showers.
If you are worried about privacy, you don't have any. No privacy at Cape May. No privacy aboard ship. Don't expect any and you won't be disappointed.

I wasn't great at math in high school either, but I recall the math in the ASVAB being rather simple. I bet you'll do better than you think.
How would you rate all of bootcamp out of 10 for difficulty? (10 being extremely difficult and you barely made it and 1 being kindergarten)
This is a tough question because it tends to get easier as you go along. I'd say personally, I'd give it a 7 overall.
To elaborate a little, I'd rate the first week as a 10, Weeks 2-3 a 9, and then a very gradual decrease in difficulty from there.
How often do u run is it like once every day or every other day?
