DJI FPV Major Issue: This is bad!

- People have been losing their DJI FPV drones and it's not pilot error. There is a major issue with the DJI FPV and it's a new problem.
Note: If you look at the "MOTOR STALLED" image, you will notice I had 80% battery when this occurred.

Same here , mine did a random flip and crashed. On sept 10th-11th. Was using montion controller .
@@mandofpv1043 did you have care refresh? Did you report what happened to DJI? If so, how did they respond? I’m asking because I know someone that the drone just got stuck, eventually the drones battery ran low and it forced landed in the ocean. DJI told him it was pilot error. Meanwhile the drone would only go up or down. He couldn’t get it to out of that spot 🤷🏻♂️
I have over 3K videos from the DJI FPV, the only issue I've had (thankfully) so far is the "Control Stick Error" after getting up the controls for Manual mode (loosening screws), and that error tends to go away after startup and switching from Normal to Sport after takeoff. This definitely has me second-guessing any over-water flights from here out. I love this quad, but THANK YOU for the heads-up!
Yeah, it was never addressed by DJI. Till this day. I’m also a big fan of the DJI FPV and still take chances over water 🤦🏻♂️.
The sad part is my insiders at DJI say that DJI is not entertaining the idea of making a DJI FPV V2 😩. Instead they are making a Avata V2 for now. I hope they change their minds. A DJI FPV V2 would be awesome. A little more agile and definitely a better camera 🤓.
@CaptureLifeConnection people keep mentioning a better camera on the drone, it's 4k60......yes I understand you can't manual change a certain few settings but to combat that issue and get more control over the quality we use ND filters which does add motion blur, without ND Filters this camera is crisp and sharp showing every detail in high resolution. For a camera that's attached to the drone as standard I think it's amazing, the amount of people I see saying it's crap is just crazy.
I understand everyone has there opinion and nearly everyone uses a gopro on there drones, people also need to understand gopros are now shooting 5k and up these days with rocksteady enabled. But your paying massively for that camera on top of the drone just to get a little better video quality for post production.
I've seen plenty of high quality videos using the standard camera on that drone,there's even times I actually thought it was recorded with a gopro but it wasn't. It's how you use the drone and the camera settings on any given day that will make it pop. 👍
Good to know, I'm thinking about getting this drone even though the avata is out because you get everything you need to fly. Hopefully they will fix the bugs before it's lost and not found. Have a good one Stevy and fly safe
It’s a great drone when it’s functioning properly. For now I am avoiding water and hard to reach areas. I really hope DJI corrects the issue soon.

That behavior looks more like "Emergency brake" was pushed twice and that you'd had configured the drone to land instead of RTH.
I’ll try reenact that double button pressing to see if you are correct. I’ll keep you posted via this comment. I’m not sure when’s the next time I’m gonna fly this particular drone though.
The DJI fpv will also "autobrake" like that when switching from Manual mode to Sport mode or to Norm.
There's a reason why DJI recommends using the original propellers. If you want to modify and tweak your drone the DJI FPV is probably not for you and you should use a classic DIY Drone or at least you shouldn't accuse DJI that their product has a bad issue when it's relatively obvious that it's caused by wrong (too steep) props overloading the ESCs and/or batteries when flying freestyle maneuvres. This fits perfectly into the fact that in the cold morning chasing the freight train in a smooth manner is fine but later on midday at higher temperatures flying freestyle is not.
I would entertain that theory if it wasn’t happening to other pilots with the stock props on. And I know someone that DJI actually replaced the drone and made him sign a NDA. That tells me they know. This drone is old so they’re not going to spend more time or/money on this issue. They have moved on. In the meeting about making a new DJI FPV 2 or Avata 2 many months ago now, they chose the Avata 2. As a whole, business wise. The DJI FPV was “annoying”. As per my insiders.
Just came across this video while searching about stalling. My drone did this yesterday on a client shoot, except it got stuck slanted, and slammed into multiple objects. Drone is completely done now
Ouch, sorry to hear that. I haven’t heard anything about DJI taking accountability, or any firmware updates in relation to this issue.

It really is, what’s also crazy about this whole situation is DJI hasn’t said anything. People on social media have been discussing it and no response. I was very lucky I wasn’t over water. Thanks for stopping in bro 🙏
Late but I don't have my DJI FPV connected to the app it just flys without the app with just goggles and remote without the app and no issues like that for over a year I did crash it though and now the camera gets stuck facing down unless I drop it while raising all but one corner up@@CaptureLifeConnection
It also happened to me. And the error was by the time the avata was released. One day I was flying and the DJI FPV just stopped responding to the sticks and autolanded in water 😢
Damn, sorry to hear that. This is becoming all too common. I’m surprised more people aren’t making video. We need to put the pressure on DJI so they can develop a solution.
Did you contact DJI? If so, what was their response?
Something similar just happened to me today! I was flying around like always in manual mode and I decided to try out the RTH button just out of curiosity to see if it would work properly. The drone stopped when I pressed the RTH but wasn't doing anything other than hover and it wouldn't go back to manual mode . I had no error messages displayed but refused to pitch in any direction. It would only go up or down when the all of a sudden it started to pitch to the right and was almost turned upside down but luckily I was high off the ground and it ended up correcting itself. I thought the only option is to land it in some person's random yard that was beneath the drone but when it got close to the ground it started acting normally again and I just had enough battery left to fly it back. After a year of owning this drone and hundreds of flights this is the first time I've experienced like this. I don't mount anything onto it neither. I think your theory is correct.
Sorry that happened to you and I’m glad you were able to return the drone safely. Still to this day DJI has not addressed this issue. The only thing I can recommend is reporting it to DJI. Hopefully if enough people contact them they will fix the issue. Back when I released this video pilots were tagging DJI on Twitter. They all had the same problem, just as you described. Weird how DJI just completely moved on. There was some firmware updates but nothing that addressed this issue 🤦🏻♂️

I see in my goggles that the measures do not update after no reason for signal loss, the speed is constant, the battery is the same everything is frozen, except for the goggles battery.
This started last week out of the blue; the only thing that may happen is that the SD of the goggles is full, and on the settings, I have the simultaneous recording on both Drone and goggles.
I will test it a few times and let you know if that may be the issue.
Looks very bad to have a reasonably expensive drone with this issue.
Now I'm getting an application notification for an update on the FPV; I'm terrified again to do it.
BTW I live in Europe so only 2KM max distance

Yeah, it’s very misfortunate that this FPV drone is not functioning properly. I thought it was a great investment being that DJI was very reliable in the past. I haven’t heard anything about a firmware update ☹️
It’s just happened to me!
Was flying in manual mode in sunset this afternoon, over water and I lost signal, after a fill sec I got signal back but the drone wasn’t moving forward only spinning around … I thought I would lose the drone, because the battery was 45% and the drone would land in the water.
I had to turn off my RC and turn on again and I press RTH and the drone start coming back and then I got back in full control again .. was lucky!
*i was using a Gopro hero 10 on top.. and I thing I’m not gonna use Gopro mounted anymore
Wow, I’m glad you were able to get proper functionality after that. You are definitely one of the lucky ones. I know of a guy that turned off his RC and still couldn’t recover full functionality. It ended up in the Atlantic Ocean 🌊☹️ (with a GoPro Hero 9). It happened to a big TH-camr twice (Matti Haapoja). I don’t have Twitter but I heard there was talk of these situations on that platform. I am currently fearful of using my DJI FPV. This has been all recent. I guess since the testing stages of the Avata. If you do fly it again without the GoPro, let me know the results. My issue happened without anything on it. The drone with no attachments.

First flight of the day and she went missing! Like I said, the hardest part of the day was over early 😆. Glad she didn't suffer any damage. But after seeing Max's 2 DJI FPV's, these are more durable than you think!
Yeah, I was one of the lucky ones. Max did hit extremely hard and had minimal damage. They are a little stronger than most think.
do u have dji fpv skin template file that i can download? I have seen you have one on your fpv drone. I was searching the whole web for a free skin template or atleast a reasonable priced one.

You could use GPS location with find my drone function, it should show precise location.

I was a victim of the stick input error on Screen. Mine slowed and i lost directional movement (as you mentioned ) then continued a free fall from about 30ft :( bounced and then landed inverted and engraved itself into the oval . No damage (this Time )
Wow, I’m glad it wasn’t damaged. It seems like DJI has not addressed this issue. I’m still hearing similar stories.

I had the same issue with my DJI FPV flew to an island and it got stock there cant go left or right only up and down had a gopro 10 on it but luckily RTH worked and it came back and landed safely, i thought by then it was the Gopro that caused something with the GPS . I flew later without the GoPro i had no issues .
That’s interesting. During my situation I didn’t have anything attached to the drone. But mine just forced landed. I know another pilot that had a similar scenario as you. He had a GoPro Hero 9 on his drone. He could only go up or down. Eventually the drone went into low battery mode and landed itself. Unfortunately, it was over water. The drone was never retrieved.
i have problem with brand new goggles v2 . Constantly disconecting the battery connection . the cable and battery is fine. i think is bad input 9v jack on the goggles
Sounds annoying. It could be the input as you said. If you’re not 100% sure it’s not the wire, that’s the first thing I would change. It’s the cheapest fix. Do you have any friends with a DJI FPV? Maybe you could try their equipment with your drone. Do a process of elimination. First test the your goggles with their wire and battery. Than try your goggles with your wire and their battery, so on and so on.

Yes I am 100 sure that the input of goggles have a problem , it is okay when I hold the jack in specific position, but when I leave it the spring inside doesn't make enough pressure to make a connection , sometimes just goes black screen if I move, or when I try to power on goggles cant run and only turning the fans on , I can hear that is struggling to power on completly
i will try to find electician to change the input jack with better one... I was wondering why DJI put a 9v jack for the input but the battery have Ctype USB. Why cant make them both USB-C, also I think that it will make a better connection instead 9v jack

I just bought a DJI FPV drone. I saw this video and read some of the comments. Does the problem occur when pressing the emergency stop/RTH button or does it happen when flying randomly? What do you think I should do? Will a software update fix the problem? Or should I return this device without ever using it?

It’s a tough call. They never released a firmware update to fix the issue. It’s very random though. I’m still using mine and I haven’t had the issue again. I really enjoy the drone, that’s why I’ve been upset that they haven’t addressed the issue. There was one big TH-camr that had the same issue and his video magically disappeared. DJI must have reached out to the pilot. I personally will continue to use my DJI FPV, just avoid water as much as possible. It works great for chasing drift cars, etc. it has the speed needed to keep up with the cars.

I had a random flip with my dji fpv last week after I did an update.
I was using motion controller. After 2 minutes it feltdown from 2 mts and crashed.

Just lost my Dji Fpv with a gopro hero 11 black in the ocean because of this issue. I could go up or down but couldn’t move forward, backwards or horizontally. Pressed returned to home multiple times to no avail. Hung out over the water for around 15 min before it slowly fell to its final resting place 😢
It’s crazy that this is still happening. Sorry for your loss. DJI knows about this issue and still hasn’t fixed it. I recommend contacting DJI and don’t settle for anything less than a replacement. 100% on them! They always start off with a 20 or 50% discount. Just keep pushing for completely free new one. If you have some behind the scenes footage, post it somewhere. Any social media platform will do. You can use that for leverage. It’s not right that they continue to sell the DJI FPV drone and haven’t addressed the problem yet.

I live in Kona Hawai’i and I’ve been flying Dji FPV. When flying in N mode w motion controller pointed up to go vertically, it looks up and it goes up but when ready to fly down by point the motion controller downwards the gimble locks in the up position but I can see from HUD elevation Its going down. and when I point the motion controller down the gimble stays in the up position. I can only see the sky when this is happening which gets the heart pumping knowing it’s going down. When I hit the panic button the drone stops and the gimble resets to the right elevation the green light and centered crosshairs are good and I can start again normally. Asking for advise. Hey, thanks for stopping in. That interesting. I’ve only used the motion controller once. I’m not too familiar with the characteristics. Hopefully someone will see this comment and be helpful.
On takeoff from grass my drone just flipped over never took off. then I kept on getting in MUI error and all my distances and heights weren't functioning properly so I re-updated everything readjusted all the settings to proper values now the MUI seems to be OK but it's scaring me to where I don't even want to fly the drone anymore 🤷🏻♂️👍🏻✨ and definitely never buy another DJI product again if it's true that there downgrading their drones that's it for them. I just got the DJIFPV two months ago DJIFPV and I paid $1300 for it I'm not rich . I owned a phantom three and I had a fly away with it. This is the last chance for the Chinese company DJI with their expensive batteries and all that bullshit they could keep it.
Wow, that sounds terrible. They definitely stopped making adjustments to the firmware of the DJI FPV. Since the release of this video, I’ve seen others complaining about similar issues. And from way bigger channels. I’m sure DJI is aware of the problems but I haven’t seen any new firmware releases to address these issues.
I have a few other DJI drones that are reliable. So far. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

I do have a question, how is a change in the DJI Fly App affect the DJI FPV since you don't really use the app typically? I mean I never had my phone hooked up when I flew the FPV and I've yet to see anyone use their phone flying the Avata. To be honest, my theory is that the DJI FPV is starting to show its age. If it were a standard fpv drone, several of the components would have been changed by now.
As of this coming december, DJI will be pushing out a software update to the DJI Avata that will stop it from flying if you don't have your smartphone plugged in. It's all to do with the new Remote ID rule. Flying without your phone will no longer be an option with the Avata.
@@xjet I've heard that as well but it'll be next December, Remote ID doesn't take effect until next year. The "good" news is I believe that you can connect your phone wireless. I know you can stream video from your phone to the Goggle 2s. Crazy way to watch a movie for sure!
@@londenard Module-based RID isn't a requirement until next year but Standard RID (as fitted to the Avata) was supposed to kick in on the 16th of this month. Enforcement has been put off until December 2022 so you can bet your bottom dollar that DJI will turn it on (thus requiring your smartphone) by that time.

Ha! It is still a great drone. I just purchased 2 more batteries for it. One went bad on me and the other was destroyed it a crash.
Almost the same issue with mine except it flew away about a half mile flipped upside down hovered for a second then fully upside down went straight into the ground the whole time flashing on the screen was now an esc error .???after the crash I went to send it in and they said that they would take care of it because it was a flyaway /malfunction they seen the footage and after a month and a half I start calling about status of the repair ,all the while I have care refresh(huge rip off).they lost my drone .so they can't find my drone I'm sending emails making phone calls and everyone put the blame on someone else of course.so almost 4 and a half months go by and by this point I'm pretty bummed and pissed that this huge company dji the people that made me feel like they were quality controlled and everything was gonna be taken care of promptly .no worries . I WAS SO FKNG WRONG. THE PKG FINALY ARRIVES .THE day before I had received an email stating parts list and prices and dji saying the shipping and handling was on them blah blah FKNG blah.so I'm stoked the omg arrived I open it up and I almost had a tear building up when I seen what they had in store for me .........BIG FKNG JOKESTERS DJI .my dji FPV drone still was broken but worse it was in pieces not fixed ,not better, worse than when I shipped it out and no new props.no new battery .All of it was just such a shitty experience that sçrew dji all the 2000 plus I spent for the fly more the care refresh express the extra geek squad extended warranty all of it was horseshit .I could of bought the parts for less than 20 bucks and fixed it myself that week been back flying .no I put my hobby in the hands of dji .never again fuck you and suck it dji from all of us who you screwed out of cash ,air time ,and portraying to be what you are definitely not and some badass company who apreciates the people who made them and follow through with feedback comments let alone PKG.deals.sorry for the rant my friend great vid and some sweet flying for. Minute there.ill be going back to my 5 inch .too much of a soul sucking event that was .I'm cool with building my own shit.if it breaks wham back in the air sometimes that day worst case gotta wait a couple days for parts no big deal right a total of almost six months my drone was gone .only to waste my hobby time .I'm out.just pisses no me off going back through it all.ok I'm good .now I'm out.word to the wise don't buy the care refresh nothing it's all a joke.

Yeah, I need to get into the traditional FPV drones. I’ll be less concerned about crashing for sure. I have one of those Tiny Hawks but I haven’t flown it yet.

I've had no issue but I do not have a avata. The theory is pretty good.
The Avata has been a fun drone. Very limited in comparison to the DJI FPV.
@@CaptureLifeConnection I wanted one for indoors , but don't loke the idea it'll compromise my dji racer , causing a possible forced landing over water. I chase a lot of boats so I probably won't be buying a avata but building something else all together

From what I heard from fellow DJI FPV owners, this issue has not been addressed by DJI. All the firmware updates since this video was released didn’t fix this problem. It’s like rolling the dice 🎲 at this point.

@@CaptureLifeConnection they're pretty tough i had a Goose collide with me back in the spring, broke right front motor arm, they aren't horrible to change and really enjoy mine had it since they came out. I'll keep a eye out for future vids

@@CaptureLifeConnection I'm not sold on the braces , i also have the camera guard, im on the fence had a small crash and I believe it saved my camera , but at high speeds it causes the drone to sway back and forth, you wouldn't think that small part would do that but it does, also the added wind resistance seems to make it a bit slower accelerating
@@tompeppint.v.3803 I’m glad I got the arm bracers. I feel more confident knowing that I have that extra strength if I mess up. I have friends that are from the traditional FPV drone world and they are very particular about any add-ons. They analyze everything. I haven’t done any research on those gimbal bumpers. No one I fly with has it on their DJI FPV. I’ll asked them how they feel about it and why they haven’t purchased it. Maybe there is something to it.

I would think so as well, but there’s other TH-camrs that had the same issue with a completely stock DJI FPV.
hopefully they're not doing it so you lose your drone and you have to buy the newer junkier drone
Just trying to warn my fellow DJI FPV owners about this issue. Unfortunately DJI has not fixed the problem and people are still losing drones. I share my experience on this channel, especially if it is helpful to others. Not to lose equipment so I can replace it.

Firmware updates don’t always benefit the product. Do you have a DJI FPV?

Yeah bro, I know someone that lost his DJI FPV over water. It just got stuck till the battery was so low it forced landed. What sucks is I fly mostly over water here ☹️.

@@PhillyDroneLife I know he shut it off but I think he turned it on again. Not sure 🤔. I know there was a lot of talk on Twitter about other pilots having this issue. Including Matti Haapoja, it happened to him twice. Almost lost his drone. This is a real issue that DJI is not acknowledging.

This is the best drone DJI makes. I love it. If they increased flight time to 30 minutes (real) I´d buy a second one without any hesitation. I´m terrified DJI abandons this drone and moves towards Avata kind of crappy useless aircraft. I feel ripped off by DJI everytime they shoot some inflated flight time on their awful batteries. How can It be that no third party vendor/manufacturer can offer a better batt for this amazing ship ? I would pay any price for better flight time.
The DJI FPV was my first FPV type drone and I’m glad I made the purchase. I’ve been having a blast flying it. DJI will be supporting this drone for a while. Not sure why they haven’t done any recent updates. There was a few people with the issue I discussed and one of them has a big TH-cam channel. 🤷🏻♂️
They are very proprietary, if some made a battery that is compatible, it wouldn’t last as long as the original DJI version. The battery technology will get better in time. It’s a balance of power and weight for these drones.
@@CaptureLifeConnection I heard from a guy on Discord that is into batt modding that for a thousand dollars a pop he can build a 35 min batt for the FPV full sport mode intense discharge, same size only a bit heavier. Hope he´s telling the truth. Flight time keeps me awake at night I use these drones for avocado plantation patrols in small farms and they work fine for that purpose. Fast, noisy and reliable. Tired of swithching batts every 9 minutes.
