      It is proof of the value of learning how to pick locks in general, i.e multiple locks, instead of being really at picking a few locks.

    the reason the jiggle method works is: it's cold in russa and, what hapens when you're cold? you shake, and lock opens!

  • @thelockpickinglebowski633

    Truly fantastic job, Bill! The combination for that Russian padlock happened to be P 0 Ш Я. I remember it as "POWER". The combo will be on one of the key tags located inside the bank bag. I used varying angles of lighting, different colored lighting, and magnification to reveal the name stamped on the lock. See combo tag for that information. Right smack beside the Russian is the American 1100 with stock bitting. The only enhancement being my population of the 6th pin chamber (likely riding the key tip), swapping standard key pins out for serrated where applicable, and swapping standard drivers out for serrated or spools. Soon it will be time to find out who protected better: Russia vs. America!!!

All of the locking devices are stock and from my extensive private collection. Besides the surprising contents of the box, I figured the best thing I could give him was the gift of content. So it's the gift that keeps on giving. This also allows the locks to be shared with thousands of people and we all get to learn while having fun. In Soviet Russia, you don't lock lock. Lock locks you! Upside down L is Gama or G. Cyrillic used some Greek, and some weird Russo-Slavic letters. P is pi. An actual P in Cyrillic is actually an R, C's are Ss and you would spell "cat" with a K.

  • @Vladimir_Kv
    @Vladimir_Kv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The password you found probably was, at some point, meant to spell
    *Р О Щ А* [rosh - sha] - _a grove_
    But the mechanism lost any semblance of precision so now it's *Р|А О Щ А|Я*

    It's hilarious to hear you mangling the Cyrillic alphabet. 'ИДПТ' (which looks like the unlock code) is roughly 'IDPT', or 'EDPT' with И pronounced like 'ee'. It's confusing at first, because of the variants of our 'E'. There are 'И', 'Й', 'Е', 'Ë', 'Э' and 'Ы', all of which are pronounced differently'. A few other letters can be really confusing. For example, and in no particular order, 'С' is 'S', 'Р' is 'R', so you have 'CCCP' which is 'SSSR', or in English, 'USSR', since the first word is 'Союз' (Soyuz'), meaning 'Union'. Others of note are 'Н', which is 'N', 'Г' is 'G', 'В' is 'V', 'Б' is 'B', 'З' is 'Z', and the last letter of the alphabet is 'Я', pronounced 'Ya'.
    It's worth learning the Cyrillic alphabet, because it will help tremendously with understanding some of the names and labelling on locks. You (or was it LPL?) had a Bulgarian lock some time ago and the Cyrillic on the label in the package was mostly easy to understand, even if you don't know any Bulgarian. There was also a Russian lock, a few years ago, which caused some confusion, but which was fairly obvious to those who could read the alphabet.
    Anyhow, this is a long post, so apologies! Thanks, Bill, for the fascinating 'Treasure Chest' series. The anticipation builds! Maybe that’s where you'll find the keys. 😉
