Hi Khadijah, I do have few questions, I have been on henna ( adding an egg and vinegar and honey) + indigo ( adding yogurt) 2 steps weekly after shampooing it for about a year. I am curly and my hair is course. Recently my curls are too relaxed and my hair is damaged, getting brittle ends and shedding a lot
      What am I doing wrong?
I use organic henna and indigo and I wrap my hair with cling film for a couple of hours for each application.
Looking forward to hearing from you 🥰🥰🥰

I got the best results this weekend by doing henna + indigo as step one. After 4hrs, I washed it off and did step 2 with indigo alone and let it sit for another 4hrs. My goodness... my hair turned out jet-black and super shiny. Even the stubborn greys at the front were not spared. The application process and waiting is quite hectic but totally worth it.

Two days ago, I too did the same as you for the first time since I began using henna in 2018. As a customer of Henna Sooq since 2018, Khadijah sharing this information was indeed helpful. However, my first application was 75:25, mostly indigo to get as dark as possible on the first application, second application only indigo. Too bad deep conditioning your hair after each wash fades the henna. Oh well.

Hey Nancy ! Thank you for sharing. Not sure if you are still checking this thread, but do you mind sharing if the indigo black color was retained by your hair so far? I am struggling to get the indigo stick. My hair comes out really nice and black right after the two step process, but the indigo gets washed out about a month later, and the greys I tried to cover are all left looking deep red from the henna. Would appreciate your feedback. So glad you found a strategy that worked for you

Love your videos! I have been using henna for 7 years now after an immune illness caused me to become extremely sensitive to perfumes, harsh chemicals and bleach products. Henna keeps my greys away and leaves me healthy and not feeling sick for 2 - 3 weeks after treatment.
For anyone with chemical sensitivity who wants to color their hair with a natural shade of red... henna is a goddess of perfection.

I have watched several videos on dying my hair using henna and indigo….for years!!! Yours is the first channel that recommended combining the henna and indigo, and adding a second, separate indigo application. I have henna in my hair as I’m typing this message. I have always applied henna separately and then indigo afterwards as a second step. My results have been pretty inconsistent. I’m going to try your method next time. Thank you so much for your videos. New subscriber!

Yesterday I made a mixture of pure henna and indigo. The ratio of henna to indigo was approximately 1:1. I added one spoon each of amla powder, cassia powder, neem powder and aloe vera powder to the mixture. I kept the mixture on my hair for about 3 hours and then rinsed it well with just water. Today I only put indigo and that only on the roots that have some stubborn grays that cannot be covered with chemical dye. I kept the indigo on my hair for about 20 minutes to half an hour. After that I only washed with water. The result is astonishing. Persistent grays are completely covered. Hair that was previously dyed with chemical dyes has now doubled in volume. And the color, the color is a cool natural coffee brown. Thanks for the very valuable tips

I've been using their Red Raj for years to cover greys. I like the copper color, so I don't bother with the indigo step. My tip: I brew my henna powder with hibiscus tea as the tea has an acidic pH (which increases dye release) and is itself a beautiful red color. Once developed, I add a few drops of lavender essential oil as this also helps release lawsone. Gorgeous results!

I find that if I use a 50:50 henna:indigo ratio for the first application, my greys do not get covered. I typically need almost 100% henna for the first application. Then on the second application, I do 75:25 indigo: henna to achieve a darker brown tone.

I've thought that indigo makes the dark color. Do you apply your second application the same day or wait a few days? Seems Khadija says the second application should be only indigo. Unfortunately once I dry it up, my scalp would itch and hair became crunchy until recently when I discovered glycerine oil . I add it to the treatment during henna application and every other day to keep my hair and scalp well moisturised. I couldn't be happier!
Ps: Glycerine oil is a little sticky but keeps the hair so moisturised and soft. I'm not sure many people would appreciate the stickiness lol. Personally I don't mind because my hair is pretty short :-)

I've been using henna/Indigo trying to achieve black, in my light brown hair with 10% grey's. doing just one henna/Indigo application with higher % of Indigo will achieve dark brown hair fairly well (albeit greys tend to fade quickly)
But if you want pitch black, the key to achieving this -main difference from other methods - is DOING as hennasooq recommends, the henna/Indigo mix first then 100% Indigo IMMEDIATELY after rinsing out the combination henna/Indigo. I'm very glad I found this tutorial & now have a reliable source of information for henna related issues. Thankz heaps hennsooq

So I used henna for 4 hours and it was too copper. But as soon as I rinsed it out, I used the same leftover henna batch on the front part of my hair line for 30 extra minutes. Rinsed out then used indigo for two hours, On the parts where I did the second (30 min) henna, my hair is still dark. .. everything else, henna and indigo washed out and became very light. This was also the first time I did NOT use heat…and also the first time the color faded…So heat cap seems to be key for grey to black in my experience.

I use 200g of henna powder (only henna, i like the red tone), 500ml of water (normal temperature) and 50ml of vinager (you have a better dye release when the environment is more acid). Let it rest for 4 to 8 hours, depending on the weather temperature, away from light (cause light degrades the pigment) and coverd (cause oxygen also degrades the pigment). Then, leave it in my head for 3 to 4 hours. Always works very nicely. Never goes away, never fades.

I LOVE YOUR CONTENT AND PASSION. I AM BIG ON HENNA AND THE 2-STEP PROCESS TO GET BETTER GRAY COVERAGE EVERY 4-6 WEEKS. I ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH HENNA/AMLA GLOSSES AS I AM A BIG SWIMMER AND FREQUENTLY WASH MY HAIR AS THE SWIM CAP DOES NOT TOTALLY PREVENT THE CHLORINATED WATER FROM SEEPING THROUGH AND BOTH TEND TO CAUSE THE COPPERY/BRIGHT ORANGE TO PULL THROUGH. WOULD YOU ADVISE REPEATING THE HENNA & INDIGO MIX TO COVER THE GRAY; AND IF SO, AT WHAT LEVEL OF FREQUENCY? LASTLY, CAN INDIGO BE ADDED TO A HENNA/AMLA GLOSS TREATMENT? AND WHAT WOULD BE THE BENEFIT?

Thanks for the tips. Been using henna for over 7 years now. Never going back to chemical dyes.
I never clarify before dyeing but after your video, I quickly used distilled vinegar (couldn't find my apple cider vinegar) with warm water and cotton pads to wipe the oils from my scalp and hair before application.
I have been adding lemon to my henna for about 4 years now after watching some videos. I find that the colour adheres and really pops on my greys. I love bright colours so I don't add indigo to my mix.
I know you don't advise lemon, but I have had positive results. ❤

Does washing the hair with baking soda beforehand cleanse it thoroughly enough? I've been having the issue with a hendigo treatment fading at the roots in less than a week. And even with a recent two-step, the indigo has already started to fade at the roots in less than a week, though it does look a tad better than the hendigo result. But still, it's not very long and it's annoying.

    • @HennaSooq

yes that can help open your hair up for some people for sure. You may want to make sure you aren't using any products or cleansers that take color out as well. Indigo can be tough to bind for some and require a few layerings/applications.

Hello Khadija, I have to say that I love your products, they feel so nice on my hair, they blend so easily and I love the shine on my hair but, I've been struggling a little bit with my mixing with indigo. Let me tell you that I have to make two steps. First step: I just use Red Raj (my favorite) with hot distilled water and I leave it for 24 hours, completely cover with plastic to not to let it dry; next day I apply it on my hair for 1 hour and henna works beatifuly, I mean: no gray hair and I get this orage color. Step two: Next day, I make 65% organic indigo(20 minutes), 20% of Red Raj(pre-24 hours) and 5% of Cassia with distilled water and insted of aloe vera I use flaxseed gel and I leave it for 3 hours on my hair and I don't kwon why but I don't get an uniform color 'coz some parts are dark and some like light brown chocolate. What do you recommend me to do? Thanks for your time.

    • @sylmarie6494

Hello. Henna can sometimes fade over time as does any type of dye (weather and elements cause this or heat over time) and it also grows out so it’ll eventually come out on its own fully over time. Henna hair dye lays 4-6 weeks but depends on hair growth. People choose henna hair dye as they do not want to use chemicals so this is a true natural alternative.

Hi, when doing the separate indigo treatment after the henna, do you have to do whole head or just roots. Would that make the colour too patchy? Also, is it safe to use over previously semi-permanent dyed hair? I am definitely going to be using clarifying treatment prior to henna. Love your videos ❤

Very interested watching your video. Is there anything you can recommend using on hair that is very high percentage white, but I want a light blonde result?
    Thanks
