ISFP Explained: What It Means to be the Adventurer MBTI Type

  • Sensitive, observant and creative, the ISFP person is an introvert who is open to stimulating new experiences. They have been dubbed as a “tactical composer” and “adventurer”. They constitute roughly 9 to 10% of the population with a slightly higher percentage of women than men. ISFPs live in the world of their senses. They are keen observers with an artistic grasp of what fits and what doesn’t.

I agree with you. ISFPs are ISTPs that actually kept their feelings and didn ' t read those books shattering your imagination and seeing how useless they are most of the time. Those books overran me faster than rain water dripping down off a cliff.

I am an ISFP, but I can’t really put it on my tongue why I prefer to avoid people. I feel like I’m at an odd place in my life that’s for sure, so I am very uncertain where I’m going. And maybe that uncertainty leads me to avoiding people, don’t know.

It's kinda hard being an isfp for me because I want to be happy, bubbly, funny and I make myself laugh all the time. I love the world. But it is not always friendly, it can be critical and it's just plain sad at times. Which is one of the many reasons I prefer to be alone, I like my own company so much lol. I have to be serious at work and business like. At times I forget who I really am because I have to be the opposite so often to be taken seriously and though I'm good at fulfilling my responsibilities and it feels good to get things done, it kinda snuffs my lust for life, or rather makes me feel like a prisoner that can't indulge in what I really wanna do due to taking up so much of my time. It's painful to think about the things I miss out on too much. I wish that money didn't matter or I'd just make crafts and drawings for people, go places with my husband, cook, walk around outside and explore...basically there are a million things I want to do, and I barely get any time to do it!!

It can be hard navigating life as an ISFP. My kindness has been taken advantage of time and time again and it has left me with this sad feeling that most people in the world are just inherently selfish. It is hard to trust new people and I find myself enjoying my own company more and more. I take so much joy from consuming art and spending time in nature, sometimes it feels like it is the only time I truly feel at peace.

As an ISFP I can understand why in my early days I often got misunderstood by my parents and everybody around me by doing what I think is fun. I often wander around the woods and observe the surroundings and because of that I get scolded or get beat up by my parents, I often do not respect my parent's uneccesary strict rules and I really despite when I felt manipulated by others. The fact that I found my parents very manipulative is because they set standards to myself often comparing me to other sons/daughter's achievement. Now I can understand why being an ISFP is so exhausting because I realized the world is very manipulative 😢 so I think as ISFP our best strength is our independence, seeking attentions and validation is a big mistake, we should connect more with our selves, do what is necessary to do and be more attentive on the manipulation of your surroundings, trust me we are not wrong it's just the world want's us to put in a box and be their puppets. We are the Lone Wolves of society, the escapees of the matrix. I felt bad for some comments saying they felt bad for being ISFP. Don't feel bad for yourselves. "I say stop being perfect, let's evolve, let the chips fall where they may".

I was told by my friends that I have a good social skills, even thought they know I am an introvert. An ISFP to be exact. But I think, I can vibe with any conversations but not those with analytical topics or debates. I can offer an ear to hear their struggles (more of a societal issues). But in the long run, I don't speak much. Also, I am not athletic nor active. I am not into sports. I am artistic and I just know when I put my hands into stuffs I haven't known yet, I can learn fast.

If they are so common, why are there NOTHING BUT INFPS AND INFJS. Also: isfps aren't "disinterested In abstract theories" we can actually switch to using our intuitive functions very seamlessly and more so than a lot of types. We actually really like to do that, it's a part of why we are so good at turning ideas into reality. (Edit this is outdated, scroll down the replies and read how I typed myself I'd appreciate it alot, I think it's a really useful insight into the mind of an isfp, pls pls read)

@@blazing-chan it's especially confusing because the definition of intuition is so inconsistent especially in this community, by definition, seining types are actually MORE intuitive but like, with real objects, where as intuitive types are abstract. Hardly.

I'm an ISFP to the T. It's scary but cool to know. Taken the test thrice at different times of my life and got ISFP every time. The only thing I dislike about this mbti is the structure part. Planning for the future, having some structure is definitely what I've struggled with. I definitely choose to "go with the flow" often. Even then, on most days I'm just happy to be living in the moment lol. I guess I would say it's easy for me to turn off from the vows of society and just breathe and be satisfied with life. I know being creative is very stereotypical of this type but it's so true for me... I love creating stuff and it's the time I'm the happiest honestly... this might not be the best thing to say but we definitely are the hippies of the MBTI 😂 it's alright, I accept it ✌🏼

I love singing. When I perform it‘s one of the best feelings ever, it makes me really happy and it‘s a lot of fun. The thing is, for a long time I didn’t want to show everybody how much I liked it/how good I was at singing, because it is something extremely personal to me. So singing to strangers felt always quite „scary“ to me. I simply didn’t want to.
Now, I decided to show it. There is a video of me singing on a website which I linked on my social media (for others to find if they by coincidence check out my profile). At school some people have spoken to me about it and they were genuinely nice. They were complimenting me and I do enjoy it. But still I sometimes find myself in „wanting to hide“. I feel like I know my singing is great, but I don’t want to share it with everybody. I don’t want semi strangers being able to listen to me. Because it‘s so personal to me, I prefer only singing to people that are really close to me. Even then I like to keep my quality to myself, so I know I am better than others think. Music, especially singing is probably the greatest way of expressing myself, but I don’t like to share it with anybody.
Getting close to me takes time. So it took me 4 years with my singing teacher until I was comfortable enough to open up my mouth fully and sing with a lot more capacity than before. I knew from the beginning that I was able to do so, but I simply didn’t feel comfortable enough at the beginning.
