      Weeellll I have been told I have NPC energy so fair enough I guess 😂 but ISFPs are often main characters too in shows and novels so I guess it depends on the person and what you find fascinating.

    I'm an INTJ and ISFPs are my favorites, I feel we are from the same cloth, just with different points of focus. Very interesting combination of fiercely individualistic and easy to get along with. I rarely feel misjudged by them. They taught me by osmosis and patient acceptance to trust my gut more, to appreciate the ephemeral moments of life, to take notice of the vast sensory palette and find deep pleasure in driving a car, sitting on a grass, making love, eating a meal. Receptive, playful, authentic. I love fitting in with them. God willing I'll marry one.

    The reason for - 18 textured
    We shape others opinions of us without having to say a word...just with an outfit. It's very useful. It's just another form of art. Giving people something to look at. Swaying people's perceptions. Very powerful.

  • @johnknight9150
    @johnknight9150 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +35

    I think "textured" is an excellent word to highlight, Nathan, and I had the same feeling. I think it's what happens when Se is being pulled around by Fi and Ni. I can be the same way myself (I used to stroke fine fabrics with the back of my finger as a baby, and do it again as an adult), but I think ISFPs are the most texture-drawn of all the types. And Gawd love 'em for it.
    As an INTJ, sharing the same functions as an ISFP but in a different order, I find I can relate to a lot of ISFP content. For me, "ISFP land" is where I go to vacation. It's the way I wish most people were. Some days I would swear I'm an ISFP, but it would only be a week after I joined their hippy cult in the desert that I would start fixing all their computers!

    • @PriHL
      @PriHL 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Ohh, the stroking of soft textures, especially cats :) As an INFJ with not so bad Se (creative subtype) I can absolutely relate. And I also love ISFPs, they're gorgeous and bring the chill where I may lack it at times.

    Too often in the MBTI community I see ISFP's being underestimated. I can't help but think a little of that is bitterness and projection, due to ignorance. It's not easy to really know one, to be let in on a deep level, so I get it. 'No man is an island', out of all the types I'd say this phrase applies to them the least.

    The layers are necessary as different fabrics provide different comfort and have different roles. The clothing choices may appear scattered but it’s due to needing to be prepared for whatever the day brings

      That too!
      I say, "That too!" because while I hadn't quite yet formed it when he was talking about it I started to almost have something to say on the subject that was a different thing altogether.
      Basically, it's a balancing act of not just being either well or smartly dressed but also of being unassumingly myself. When I live where and when I am healthy and capable of layering rightly without dying, I am less likely to surprise people after they have made their assumptions about me. Or, at least, it is less likely to be a jarring, unwelcome surprise. So, in a way it's fair warning. In another way, it's completing the painting that tells the story, except the painting is me.
      None of this is sounding just right to me. "Just right!" is, however, what must be achieved, or as close to as possible, with tone, texture, color, length, depth, bredth, swooshing, enfolding, nubbing and all the delights that the materials bring to the outfit.
      Like when I had the bright red blazer I gave to my mother and she rejected and wore it over my McD's uniform of soft white and soft red stripes and black pants (having traded the girly shirt in for a boy's longer, tunic looking one), but under an oversized General's army coat with its big lapels and impressive olive tone, which all went very nicely with the very large gold flower earrings and brown hiking boots with the other form of bright red shoe laces or the black Nikes with the orange styling. And, sometimes, including a denim jacket and a different shade of bright red leather gloves.
      Everything I had- except the Nikes- was cheap as sin, yet it worked so well together that people assumed I had a personal shopper, tailor and all sort of other things that rich people have to give the impression of being an eccentric artist who doesn't care what you think about them. Because, I was an eccentric but starving artist, who didn't care what they thought about me.
      Therefore, the only surprise was that I was really an artist and not rich at all.
      Gosh! I miss having a reason to layer and good things to do it with.

    a word i would add is self-actualized, based off of the activities & achievements of ISFPS ik (Lily Galapon & Siddhartha B.), in terms of comparison of the amount of self-actualization to other highschoolers that are in the same environment of the competitive highschool that we attend. im an INFJ 6w5 or 5w6 and as an Ni-dom, i comparatively highly respect the amount of Se & Te that they use & their actions, especially when we are under the same time constraints in a timed environment. but even over time (2 years), they've done so much more stuff than i have & have stuff (products, results, &/or external metrics) to show for it

      Aww hey there young infj. I'm an infp in her twenties and I hope this doesn't seem rude or something, but I just wanted to say I hope you try to be more compassionate and less harsher on yourself.
      Personally, I believe that people determine what they find valuable and what they don't. So... I hope you... listen more to yourself and what you find valuable. You make what your life is at the end of the day, so I just hope you're thoughtful in a self-kind way and that when you're making any decision, even if it's choosing the passive option, that you understand why you do it. I hope you let yourself be you and be kind to yourself. Humans are innately capable of actions and also innately faulty/limited. I believe so long as you know what you want and you go for it, in a way that feels comfortable or just you, that's all that matters.
      And honestly, some of the greatest historical achievements also happened in complete isolation too you know.
      Just do your thing, kid, I say heh. There isn't really a rulebook to life. We're all just doing our best guesswork heh.

    • @nicoleni7192

      ISFP's in theory have 3rd slot Ni (introverted intuition), which is what Nathan meant when he used intuitive as an adjective for them, because its an integral part of how they view & think in life. INFP's have second slot Ne (extraverted intuition). A big difference between them is that ISFP's have second slot Se (extraverted sensing), while INFP's have Se as their 7th function. However, this is a theory, and another theory is that there are subtypes: dominant functions the same and inferior the same (because they're most resistant to change), and the functions in between can have their order switched. In practice, I do think that for a couple hours I can tend to use higher Ti than Fe and can even intentionally suppress my Fe sometimes, which is represented by the subtype of INFJ as Ni, Ti, Fe, Se.

      Isfp are artsy/creative type but more so in a quiet, chill way. Think surfer dude wearing his favorite Hawaiian t-shirt all the time, who plays a guitar. Or a cat lady/painter that dresses like the mystic magic teacher (tea cup teacher) from Hogwarts.
      Not that all isfp are like this, each one is different but most I find have their own unique relaxed style.
      Meanwhile infp are more creative but in a more outgoing way. They tend to talk a lot or put their emotions and ideas out their more once you get to know them.
      I notice tons of artist youtubers and writers are infp. They tend to get excited and show more of themselves in a creative way.
      They too are relaxed but not like the isfp. (Isfp are super lazy, infp are more introvert, quiet)
      Infp are more introvert than isfp, but once you get to know them, then they are more outgoing.
      I like to think infp as a creative magical forest fairy. Whimsical, mystical, with a mind of constant fantasy.
      (Their minds are always in the clouds. Always.)
      They always have new ideas or inventions.
      Like, an infp could tell you about their new book they are writing about good vampires, dogs like dragons, and evil aliens and pirates.
      They have a creative way of putting those ideas together and making something new and interesting.
      -isfp also are more observant in the here and now.
      ("Should I have raisin toast for breakfast? Why does this place smell like a coffee shop? I should go get some new paint for my art.")
      While infp's head is always in the clouds. ("What does chocolate and candy cake taste like? Why do fairies have wings? Will the future have robots??")
      -I've been categorized as an isfp

      Ok I'll try help you.
      Ne connects different things, for example a tennis ball and a chick.
      At begging it same strange, but if you think, you can see that both are small, yellow and furry (?)
      I am ISFP, I can make this type of connections but I need more time, just one and then that's it, very rarely, because it is difficult for me.
      An INFP does this much more easily, and with a big frequency not only sometimes and an INFP doesn't create a single connection but from a connection *he creates an another a next an another, continue to expand.
      An another difference.
      I can be interested about abstract concepts, but they should to have also a concrete aspect. I don't like the abstract to the abstract, when the things become too abstract, become boring for me.

      Their functions.

    • @solarisan_
      @solarisan_ 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They are very different. My grandma was ISFP and my grandpa INTP. I know that a lot of the time, people focus on pointing out the difference in judging functions thinking that those matter most. Perception matters greatly. It informs our worldview and “feeds into” how we make decisions. And these two types have all different cognitive functions both in terms of perception and decision making. For example, my grandma always worried about what others think while my grandpa was super adaptable, kind and supportive to everyone (sometimes, even when he was supposed to draw a clear line). Imagine Fi as their strength and Te as their weakness. Or, as a bridge they try to cross. From how they feel towards things to actually achieving them, it is a long way to go. Meanwhile, Se and Ni add to how they come across (particularly in social situations). For INTPs, the bridge to cross happens between Ti and Fe. The need for logical consistency and how to use it to actually approach and help people. Ne and Si influence their energy (which is usually calm and peaceful).

    • @solarisan_
      @solarisan_ 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be the focus of their perception (in particular Ni, since it is individualistic in ideas). However, Te as an inferior function does so very much. @@sweetbliss710

    • @nicoleni7192
      @nicoleni7192 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      they're dominant function opposites. INTP's are Ti-doms, ISFP's are Fi-doms.

    • @chuzzlewitspack9126
      @chuzzlewitspack9126 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm ISFP and my daughter is INTP. I've heard that Fi and Ti can come across similarly because they are both subjective. There are other reasons, but it's long to explain and I'm sure you could find videos about it. People think Fi has no reasoning because it's a feeling, but there is always a reason behind it. ISFPs might not want to explain the reason, however, because we just don't want to. With Ti, I find my daughter likes to talk out her reasoning and explain her thoughts a lot more. She has Fe and although it's in the bottom, INTPs can be good about thinking about other people in a way that ISFP don't. ISFPs have a lot of empathy, but there is a level where we can forget not everyone is as individualistic as we are. So that's when the "live and let live" motto can look like ISFPs don't care about other people and don't worry about them. We do though. We care a lot, but we don't want to bother people or crowd them if they're working through their feelings. We hate when people do that to us when we're working through our feelings and sometimes we forget that people with Fe are different. They want you to be involved and they don't mind getting into other people's business. Even an INTP with low Fe will worry about other people and want to make sure they're happy and things are ok. I don't know if this makes any sense. I think I lost my own plot. But my last thing is that, in spite of how youtubers portray INTPs, they are actually very funny when you know them personally. If they have strong Fe, then their Ne connections are really funny and not rude or insensitive. My daughter and I laugh all the time and it's often because of her observations and the connections she makes. She can make up a parody of almost anything.

    As an INFP, i wish often i could master the ISFPs' loose, live let live state.
    I'm almost always looking from the outside in.. Internalizing all my judgements of others, finding (and sometimes) exploiting flaws in others and noticing a bunch of missing pieces in the puzzle of life. Although isfps have their own tumultuous struggles and difficulties, the Ne-using INFP is like their troubled, overly-perfectionist cousin, who weaves through life's battles sight unseen with their own masks of having it all together. While i recognize not all relationships can be 100%, i feel a lot of our angst stems from wanting to be better understood and 'seen' by those around us, despite not often having the compunction to reveal the parts of us that are most important. Too often our own whims get in the way, and we find ourselves straddling an ever winding road of which we can't escape, whilst trying really hard to simply recall all the things that brought us to the road.
    I merely speak from personal experience, but having to neglect our ideas or pursuits in favor of practical, relatively meaningless traditions burns us to our core, even though we paradoxically are able to embrace them with selflessness.
    Hope this made sense.

      I hope you're ok. I'm an ISFP and can relate with some things, like wanting to be understood or seen better by others. It might be because we are both simply introverted. I have an INFP sister and can see lots of admirable qualities in her, as well as other INFP's in my life (I'm literally surrounded by them). We have both experienced depression before and different kinds of mental health struggles. So I don't know if there's any kind of protective element of being an ISFP. One difference we seem to have is that I'm quite okay of showing my emotions to others, but she's more closed off. I target anger and hurt outside, she instead tends to harm herself. So in a way, while she seems more tough outside (and I'm more like a crybaby etc), feels like she's more fragile inside. She felt like a black sheep in our family, while I felt like I could never earn her respect and love. It's the weirdest thing because we are so similar, but still there could be so much hurt and separation between us. Now as we are older we are trying to repair our relationship. Also my boyfriend for like 10 years now is INFP, and I wonder if I got into this relationship because of her, like an unconscious attempt to mend my heart. So as much as I love INFP's and look up to them, I sometimes have mixed feelings of them and feel even things like resentment, but it's because of these kinds of experiences.
      Sorry for the unrelated trauma dumping 🙈

      @@Evoral No, it's great. I believe both types can hit it off with banter due to having the same dominant function. I have a gender neutral friend who's ISFP and I have a lot of excellent convos with them. I tend to be a bit imaginative, but it takes a lot of decisiveness and thorough effort to fully showcase it just because I think I'm ways a lot of people aren't used to, or at least that's how I feel a lot of the time.
      It's difficult sometimes separating a person's hot takes from their ignorance. What I mean by this is whenever I introduce an alternate perspective in conversation, it'll feel like the person either isn't listening, or simply not getting it, but it's likely they are, just that they have a strong ideal too that keeps them from taking it all in. This is why I can't be too judgemental when it feels like the other person isn't entirely listening.
      I try to remain true to my core self, but because it changes so much, I kinda just go along with my day based on whatever flows into it; meaning my active subconscious ultimately decides often without reviewing all the facts to see what's truly worth investing in.
      I also use a lot of big words, so once again, hope this made sense. 🤠

      @@Evoral according to a redditor's 'wholesome' tier list, ISFP and INFP are on the "I always crave our conversations, u get it" tier

      @@Acceptablehandleaheada2.-_ For me there's usually never a boring moment when I talk with INFP's, I agree that we understand each others in some kind of deeper level. I'm also unconventional but I have also suspected autism in myself so I never really know what comes from my personality type or from elsewhere. But I enjoy rebelling against norms, be a bit provocative, if I believe in it. I think my ideas can be weird and wild often for the people in my life, and I annoy others with being idealistic and impractical. But also I love following trends (for my best ability lol) so some things might make me seem a bit of a sheep. And I'm the most gullible person in the world.
      I'm also an extremely bad listener, not because I don't want to, but because I can't focus well. I can start to focus on random things in my environment, or my mind just drifts. When I watch movies or shows, it's like my mind is elsewhere of the plot, but I focus on peoples facial expressions, relationships or visual details. Again, it could just be a me thing. But if it bothers you that people (ISFP's?) don't listen, maybe you can ask them why.
      And yeah both types tend to be bad at being productive. I need to practice my Te so badly.
      You sound like a native english speaker. I'm not so I have to look up words sometimes to understand or express myself.

    Timely video. Trying to type someone now. I know it may sound crazy but I've narrowed it down to ENFJ, ENTJ, ISFP or INFJ.
    Female who recently married an INTP (For sure)
    Anyone know if any of those types are common mistypes of one another?

      I'm skeptical but steelmaning the ISFP option. Initially was leaning towards ENFJ. I see a lot if what I think of as Fe from her.

      @@metas1779 I might be able to help you. Is there anything you can tell me about her way of thinking and approach towards things? Or, we can do this. What do you find confusing between Fe (ENFJ) and Te (ENTJ)?

      From the types you provided, only ENFJ-INFJ and ENFJ-ENTJ pairings are similar enough to be mistaken. Other combinations you can with relative ease distinguish from.
      Ask these simple questions.
      Do they mind being spotlight or do they like it?
      EJ types in general like to be in the middle of things, IJ less so, IP I think the least, unless they don't care since they occupied in themselves.
      How straightforward are they?
      ENTJ and ISFP will say what it is, emphasis on ENTJ, while *NFJ, emphasis on INFJ, will try to play around with words.
      Are they firmly talking about opinions/observations, or are they avoiding concrete answers?
      For EJ/IP, judgemental function is the leading one, talking about opinions is their thing. EJ more about what they think should be done in society, IP their personal observations.
      IJ/EP aren't keen on concrete opinions, because their mindset is the system, in the strings that connect the nodes.
      From trying to find concrete example, it would sound more like what thing isn't, than actually what it is.
      When you ask them questions, do they spin them around back to you, how do you feel and similar? FJ (prominent Fe) thing in general.
      Fi can get carried away. Te will ask questions, but more in practical realm.
      How often do they express emotions outwardly, or are they hard read at times? FJ in general want to share feelings, while for Fi it's their personal thing. Unsure as of yet how that works for TJ, don't have anything definite yet.
      Hope this helps. If anyone has something to add or help me refine this questions, feel free to say so!

    I did the Myers test a while ago and got basically ISTP and ISFP (I think 52% T and 48% F but I may have the exact numbers wrong) and had only a few points where i felt identified in this video. On the other hand in your ISTP video i felt like everything was accurate except the extremely honest part.
