This is soo crazy how it all makes sense now.
I just realized that I’m in a Fi-Si loop…again. I always end up there when I’m not „moving“ for a long time. While I was traveling I‘ve always felt so alive and motivated and back home I always have the feeling that I’m loosing that person I used to be when I was traveling.

Believe it or not I think you can tell by dress. ISFPs have a particular style at any given time, which they feel signals their current identity. INFPs are experimental, all over the place. And ISFPs are very aware of what other people wear and decode it. INFPs pay more attention to the emotional atmosphere.

This has been a very helpful and insightful video. I’m an isfp, currently stuck in a career that’s been sooo draining and quite hard for me to really grasp and understand (I work as a laboratory scientist). Although in my free time I always love to sing, with a guitar or ukulele accompaniment and do some diy crafts to free myself from the stressful areas of my life. It took me a long time to understand why I was the way I was until I took an mbti test which typed me as an ISFP-T. Because of the pandemic, I’ve become more introverted as ever and it’s even harder when I see my friends do some “adulting” things and making wise decisions and I can’t help but compare myself to them, just being stuck at where I was and not knowing what to do about my future and career. . but now through this video, I can now understand that yeah, in order to reach our fullest potential we have to act and do our homework as well, make use of our extraverted sensing and thinking (even though it’s out of our comfort zone).

@@winterbird4447 Hi...while I agree there is a huge contrast between the two types- and any two types really- isfps can actually identify with being a realistic and an idealist. Both types have S/N in the middle of the stack so the S/N can work in tandem. I experience it daily as an ISFP. Pointing out an INFP is an idealist actually will confuse an ISFP moreso because we can identify with that too? and seeing both sides of the coin is a problem for us too so its hard for us to fully decide on one or the other.

Love the ISFP positivity in this video. I come across a lot of descriptions of the ISFP that are so lackluster. When reading articles that breakdown types, we can literally have the most boring and vague descriptions. And the sensor bias somehow gives us the superficial and shallow label. I identified with a lot of this video but not the surfer dude description. I mean yes, I am in my body but am also pretty heady. I know 2 other isfps and only one is surfer dude-y. Overall I am appreciating this video, and your straightforward yet effective way in relaying information. Loving your content on planning.

This video is making me reconsider being ISFP over INFP. I was always confused between INFP and ISFP, still not sure.
I'm FI dom for sure, caring a lot about my inner world and feelings and my identity and values. I also come off IxFP in every test. But I thought I was INFP for a long time, cause I'm usually dreamy and fashinated by abstract stuff and fantasy and art.
That could be both... but I think many people are confused by this:
The main thing is that I don't perceive myself as physically adept at all. I feel very awkward and not so connected with my body, physical activities and manual and mechanics. We always think that a high Se user would be like that, so I say ok I'm not.
What I learn tho, is that ISFP Se is more subordinated to Fi, and usually linked to art or creativity... so if an ISFP really likes something, he will be proficient and use his Se with that. I love music and photography and I'm really good at playing and basically anything about music and video/photography and it comes natural to me. If I have to fix something Im not nearly as practical.
And yes I see myself as clumsy and distracted but I'm also really aware of the enviroment and the sensory details...even if I'm in my inner thoughts and zoning out I'm still usually aware of what happens around me, maybe someone talking, a noise, or something I see... it can even distract me from my internal thought process.
I'm also quite interested in esthetic and expressing identity through appearance etc and I dont see that as very INFP.
Still, at the same time, I resonate a lot with Ne definitions. I also like symbolism and building a meaning over things... but I also struggle thinking about future plans and working to realize my vision.
And I'm not really that type that jumps into action really quick.
    Could be because of looping?
I also wonder the difference between Fi-Si and Fi-Ni loop.
I think ISFP vs INFP is one of the hardest pair to distinguish.
Sorry for the long and selfcentered comment but I think maybe others would relate to these doubts.

i was just walking barefoot along the beach the other day. this is by far the most practical video for isfp’s that i’ve seen yet. i was a bit surprised that you suggested using Ni only 5% of the time, but i guess it makes sense because this is more of an unconscious function anyway.. but we tend to hole up in it and get very paranoid and anxious. i deal with a lot of anxiety now and mistrust the outside world bc i have tended to be in the Fi-Ni loop a lot. the moments when i forget the story and just be in my body helps. also Te is an alien unnatural concept to me but i’m starting to find pleasure in the discomfort of it. it gives me the feeling that my dreams are actually possible.

I think getting stuck in Ni can result in Se kicking in whether you want it to or not: BFRBs, emotional/unconscious eating, restless fidgeting, etc (I have had all of these issues). Best to then, like you say, ACTIVELY get back in to your body by, say, going for a walk, doing a workout, doing an art project, even opening a window to get some wind in the room. Stop obsessing about trying to find the convergence about how everything is going to play out and get back into living in the moment - consider the long term path (Ni) but also just relax a bit and allow the path to unfold. 🤘

I've had many problems nailing down my MBTI type because I've lost my sense of identity. I thought that I was an INTP or ISTP because I thought that (or more like I REALLY felt like or wanted to be) I was more of the logical type. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm that logical or thinking and I make a lot of decisions base on my feelings. I started studying the ISFP more, and I think it might fit me the best (I still have identity/self-esteem/self-doubt issues so who really knows). I am the stereotype of the washed up musician who lost his motivation and drive despite really wanting to make a career in sound design. I may not even be ISFP; I'm just on here venting my frustrations to anyone who'll listen.

    • @DBZchimerafox
      @DBZchimerafox ปีที่แล้ว +2

Finally, someone else who's had the INTP/ISTP mistype. I see most ISFPs say they mistyped as INFP and it always made me wonder "how in the world was I getting INTP all this time?"
Funny thing about it, though, ISFP was my first ever typing back when I took the test in middle school and I tested for it consistently but I never had any further interest in MBTI at the time. Years later, and getting back into the MBTI, I'm consistently typing as INTP (with some major ISTP and minor INTJ/ENTP thrown in the mix).
However, though I did agree with the Thinking preference, the whole trope of INTPs "not feeling their feeling/ not being able to tell their feelings" felt misplaced if it's applied to myself. Yes, I do have moments when in the midst of negative feelings I feel "outside of myself" or "disassociated", but I am very much aware of how I feel and even why I came to feel that way (even to the point of validating those emotions to myself and working out a way to move past it). However, I just thought to myself "maybe those "out of body"/"dissociative" feelings ARE not feeling your feelings".
As I've been trying to understand cognitive functions and stacks some things didn't really seem to add up like Si and Fe. My excuse for it being "they're lower on INTP's stack, so maybe I resonate with them because I'm not really using them".
It was only when I was thinking back in all all the typings I've had before and wondered why ISFP was the only one that really stood out that I took the time to just look into it again; maybe get a new perspective on how I was as a child and was taken aback by.how similar the traits apply to me now. Add on to that shock when I went in depth on ISFPs stack and how they operate and see how eerily similar they are to how I think and respond and act and the like.
It's a strange state to be in: I spent all this time identifying and justifying myself to the qualities of INTP that it feels wrong, almost insulting, to think that I'm most definitely an ISFP but at the same time gratifying to say that I have a more concrete starting point where I can make improvements to myself that are more likely to work.

Wow, this really helped me understand something about myself. I’m an ISFP but I don’t fit the mold of being the “artsy person”. In fact it’s been driving me crazy because every time I take the test I come out ISFP but I just don’t completely fit the type. I enjoy crafts, singing, all those things but haven’t really done much with it. I think it’s because I’ve been stuck in the loop you talked about. I’ve always been a rather fearful person and too afraid to step out there. For the last few years I’ve been in a field dominated by extroverts and, although it’s been challenging, it’s helped me begin to overcome some of that fear which in turn is helping me unlock more of my creative side. Anyway, thanks so much for the info. It helped a lot!

Probably the turbulent side since 2014 🥺. But, recently I've been working on myself to get out of this hole I dug myself in. I thought I was more ESFP, or a mix of both I/ESFP (but now I don't think I was correct)... I'm not the "typical" artsy type, but love being creative in other ways (clothing, journalling, want to dabble in pottery...). I'm very intuned to my sensory function. I'm more conservative. I look forward to now; using the cognitive functions as a tool for growth. Thanks for this upload, very informative.

This video is excellent. I often think i'm ENFP and ISFP vs ENTP vs INTP. This video sounds like a version of me. So tough to type accurately.

I've always typed INFJ but I have always held a small amount of doubt, I would say the ISFP suites me best when I really get down to the nitty gritty of it...a really strong Ni using ISFP (so than Fi-Ni looping) ...sigh. ..
This was fantastic though ! Great job.
How would you personally compare the fear of sensory things in regards to Se inferior or Se auxillary but stuck in a Fi Ni loop?
I have a lot of childhood trauma which has made me wonder if I have been stuck in Ni.
All I know is I use Ni and Se for sure, but I'm unsure of the Ti/Te & Fi/Fe functions.
I literally have checked off every attribute you've stayed created a typical isfp. I am an enneagram type 4, so I wonder if this flavors my infj typing hmmmhmmhmm. I'm rambling now.

70 and 60 percent doesn't equal 100 plus the extra 10. But I see what you mean. Almost 50/50 with the 1st 2

the judging/self critisism would apply more specifically to ISFP’s that would align with enneagram 1. As a 9, I don’t feel that I’m really self critical, unless maybe I’m not conciously aware of it. ISFP’s that would consider themselves artists would provably align themselves better with E4.
As an ISFP 9w1 I can’t really relate to the creativity experienced by an ISFP 4. I have no musical ability at all and pretty much no creative abilities.

My mom is an ISFP. She doesn't have musical abilities, remember it's a spectrum. It's not concrete.

For me Ni is my child it's very childish hard to explain and yes I have dissociated before. And it childishly desires freedom. But yes I loop alot. Se helps me stay objective but I get stuck in my Ni alot. And I zone out badly and miss what's going on around me thus becoming paranoid.
Are you familiar with these terms
    Hero
    Parent
    Child
    Inferior
    Nemesis
    Crritic
    Trickster
    Demon

INFP I know i'm not for sure, then I kept on thinking that I was an ISTP, but then I thought to myself ''I'm not THAT silent, so ISFP I may be!'', but then, I'm not hippy and romantic AT ALL.
That's it, I came to a conclussion that most of the time i'm a ISTP, but when around people that I like, i'm a ISFP.
And ENOUGH, all this ''MyerBriggsMBTI'' stuff gonna drive me crazy.

Do you relate to others in outside world by talking to them, being conversational. Do you need a third something like movie, band to fill the emptiness, awkwardness you feel.
Or are you funny more engaging with others, asking questions, curious about what others are doing. Do you make jokes, get a bit silly. ISFP

    • @camillea7697
      @camillea7697 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Got cut off
In other words INFP’s DO NOT ENGAGE with outside world.
Very quiet so need movie or something external to remove awkwardness.

It’s easier to confuse isfp not liking using te with lack of se making them think they are Ne or infp because usually isfp the doer and infp are the doer in their heads or they write what needs to be done in their heads . But it seems I have very to little no use of te the only time I think i use te when cleaning my room making everything organized coz messy room disturbs my fi se functions lol
