I install and repair servers in racks every day, all day. On my hip is a Swisstool X, Olight baton on a magnet belt-loop carrier, and a discontinued Benchmade OTF in S30V. Those three items get used the most so they're on my belt and they disappear until a polo shirt. In my Eberlestock $99 bag I have my laptop, a pouch with a bunch of serial cables (for configuring routers, switches, and servers), and a clothing "cube" with a mesh top for other various cables and tools like electric screwdriver, USB-powered soldering iron, various TORX wrenches (hard drive carriers & CPUs), and a small ratcheting driver & bit set. I can walk into any datacenter on the planet with that and pretty much install or repair any server or switch hardware with it, and all of it has been tested over time across 3 different continents both in and out of combat zones.
The pliers wrench are absolutely awesome! I work in industrial ag and use my pliers wrench more than any other tool! They’re so versatile and easy to use. I definitely need the little guys for my range bag.
I have them in a few sizes and I always reach for them over a wrench first because they work so well and are way faster than hunting for the right size wrench. They don't always work, but when they do, they're amazing
They’re also thin, and good for tight spaces! They make a great present for anyone too. I made an edc kit for my in laws and they’re an essential piece for them.
My EDC has to be small, do EVERYTHING, and belt change easily. Leatherman Wave is simply best. Knife opens one handed. Pliers Wire cutters. Diamond file for fingernails, (I have wished it detachable for sharpening the knife.) Also, I park a small neodymium magnet near saw hinge for picking up tiny bolts, fishing bols from holes.

I know it seems a bit silly, but it is really one of the most well thought out kits I've seen, and it's made here in America by the same people who were making the Covert Industries tools before they started outsourcing to another country
Nice kit! I like to have two different sets of bit drivers too. Can come in handy sometimes. I keep my leatherman wave with the bit kit and ratchet driver in mine. Otherwise pretty similar items to yours. I also put a flashlight in mine, in case i dont have one in my pocket. Also included a bandana/shop rag and some micro fiber cloths.
This is great. I'm going to present an opinion only, not saying anyone else is wrong or that I am absolutely right in any way... I have to go with a carpenter pencil instead of the mechanical one. I can buy one, cut it in half and either carry two with me (in case I lose one) Or I have one in each of two different places. And I could buy a WHOLE BUNCH for what the mechanical pencil costs. Sharpening it? Isn't it in an EDC kit with blades anyway? Plus, throw a sheet of sandpaper in an EDC kit and you don't even have to have a blade to sharpen it... So you have a solution for airline travel. AND they write on write in the rain paper. I've replaced carabiners with 550 cord shackles. They do the same thing, weigh less, cost less, aren't conductive, and are flexible so they can get out of the way. Also, did I miss the light somewhere?
It's from Magnus but he hasn't made them in a long while. I want to say I spent like $115 or so on this thing thinking it was an actual utility knife but it's just a blade holder 😅 magnusx.com/search?type=product&q=Utility

Can it really be called EDC if it's not carried on your person in your pocket or on your belt ? A lot of people put kits together that have to go in a backpack...etc or is barely usable because it's perfectly packed in an altoids tin. To me EDC has to be easy and comfortable to carry on your person, if it's in your vehicle or off body in a backpack it's not EDC. Maybe that's just because I'm a blue collar guy who doesn't have a desk or backpack or anything like that and needs the things I carry to be on my person at all times.
