If you can afford the expensive gear then you have no excuse not to have the cheap one as a city backup. A friend who worked in field operations always used gel pens for his work for their reliability but when the moment came to get the service order signed from the customer he would hand them a mont blanc pen. This was an amazing impression because if you are dropping a couple grand on a service that signature is worth that much.
Tbh there's a lot of things out in the market that are extremely expensive and didn't offer the quality and uptime that takes to purchased something in that price. A while ago I purchased a wallet from amazon that was like 30 bucks, ofc it didn't last that much, I used it for 4-5 months until it began to fall apart, then I got my actual wallet that was less that 70 bucks and I was kinda doubtful but I read a lot of reviews about the brand and got convinced, the best purchased I've made this year was that wallet!!
Hi! Pen nerd here. While I believe the Sailor is worth the money, I think the best pen for people that aren’t fountain pen collectors generally are any of the the TWSBI line. Specifically the Eco or the Diamond 580 with the Eco being about the same price as the plastic Kaweco for better quality assurance (in my experience) and more than twice the ink capacity if you like cartridge converters with your kawecos (which you need to use your own bottled ink)
I consider a $4 Zebra compact pen expensive, now imagine my reaction when I saw the $400 Sailor pen... people are crazy. This video is really interesting though, thank you for the sacrifice.
To be fair, the 4 dollar pens and 400 dollar pens have different purpuses. The 4 dollar pen is thrown away after some time, the 400 dollar one will probably last your entire life. I would also argue that buying such expensive luxuary brands used is much less of a wasteful choice. I purchased quite a few used montblanc pans in my life, used them for a few years and sold them again for more than I purchased them + inflation, so I got to use well made luxuary products while making a profit on them. That doesn't mean that every luxuary product is worth it, in contrary, when it comes to newly produced luxuary goods I often find them to be trash, but there is litte to do wrong with owning a secondhand vintage montblanc fountain pen or dupont lighter.

Last comment would be that luxury does not have to mean flashy and attention seeking. Some people have commented that for travelers attracts the wrong attention, I think this depends more on if you mean BRAND by luxury or the QUALITY of goods. Yes wearing a Rolex on holiday is a terrible idea unless you are only going to luxury hotels / restaurants etc and can afford to replace it.
Next time add a tiny pocket box to carry skittles or any other small candy with, bcz I don't smoke and it was really hard to find a mettal small box to carry
I would call this, except for the rolex and ST DuPont, is mid tier. A luxury edc Would be something like... 1. Wallet/keysThese can be fairly standard even in a "luxury" EDC. The choices here were fine. 2. Knife-The knife you picked is fine, but a luxury knife should at least be hand finished. So this starts at something like Chris Reeves Sebenza. Though an actual luxury knife should probably be custom hand made or even better, a one off custom piece. 3. Lighter is fine-St Dupont is one of the only games in town besides Cartier. This is with out considering super low run ones like PDW. 4. Light- Not eve remotely close here. Luxury starts here at an Alu Okluma DCO. 5. Pen- Sailor is fine, but it's not really an EDC pen. Tactile turn would be the best entry point for a luxury EDC pen in a cool material like zirconium with timacus accents. 6. Watch- No arguments here. Rolex is the king. You could have done something crazy like a AP or Patek, but as an EDC watch rolex, omega, and Tudur are the go to for high end EDCs.
How do you compare a multi tool to a single use tool such as that knife?! One does more than the other at a much lower cost, and a carabiner to a the bellroy key cover... an key smart or orbitkey would be a suitable companion in the budget like. Other than that I liked everything and still choose the budget with the added expensive size of the bellroy, flashlight and knife.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Expected everything to cost more on the expensive side rather than it all really being focuses on the watch. If we're going from cheap casio EDC to expensive watch EDC, you should have something in casio's oceanus line there.
I would not consider the note core to be too much of a luxury option. Surefire stiletto woulda been more accurate. The note core could fit into the budget category imo I have one and paid 90$ for it which sounds like a lot but I literally use it every time I walk my dog or work in the garage and a million other things. The quality for price is crazy like I would have paid 2x for it happily given what I got
Amazing video as always! Very funny and interestingwhen you bring us these videos that compares different levels of EDC. Thanks again for your great work and effort! Take care
Nice comparison, I'm ok with expensive premium items if it makes me smile! I am very hard on my gear so i try to find high value to quality . By the way sick pin storage....tell me more please. Thanks Maurice, From South Texas Matt
Bellroy wallet is more expensive and worse than slimfold if we really want to optimise our wallets. The slimfold is lower profile and faster access to whatever you want from the wallet.
Take out the watch and lighter, other expensive items are actually better quality! Especially the knife and torch, the more expensive version are good value for money if you consider what they can do and how long they can last.
2:13 I would suggest Orbitkey instead of Bellroy in this case 100%, even though I own Bellroy wallet which had been serving me for like 8 years already and had backpack from them as well.
Whether luxury is worth it or not, depends on what you want. luxury for stuff you want, but things you need in your edc but don't want to pay a premium, get the budget, so you can save up for the premium you want.
I was into the all black stuff from 17-19years old. Now almost at 21 I'm starting to like more vintage stuff recently more of a dark brown maybe it has a story because I got it at the flea market from the military booth I have ww2 wallets and stuff from there. This new simple black plastic world isn't cutting it for me. But the items listed are great options. To these all I'd like to add my edc pistol I know it's not allowed everywhere witch is sad but I would be interested to see.
@@mrEtanMW So wrong. Rolex is the equivalent of Mercedes. People who can afford Bugatti and RR will still consider Mercedes as a luxury car. Like Mercedes, Rolex also have very high end models that can cost just as much as the most exclusive brands. Unlike Mercedes tho, their «lower end models » are still more exclusive than Mercedes « lower end models ».
@@faubourglincoln I’m talking about the lower end models like the oyster perpetual. but of course to the layman paying 6k for a watch is still quite a lot
The Wallet/cardholder & key holder sure I'd upgrade too, then swap out the ring watch for a gold one. Maybe get the insert for my Made in Niagara Falls ON Zippo while I'm here. Pretty good lists laid out here.
Honestly I love watches and knives, those are the 2 main things which I’d spend on however much is financially responsible (+a little bit probably😅) further I don’t carry a light or lichter (even though I should, I have a cheap but good wallet and I just have a small carabiner on my belt where I can clip keys on…
Even in cheaper things, there's a price point below which everything is "low " quality. Like in watches, them having plastic dials, acrlic crystals etc. If you pay more, not much, you can get steel dials and mineral glasses, still quartz tho. After that, the quality isn't always related to the price. Like i have Casio analog watch and anoter watch from another brand which costs twice as much and i still feel the casio is better quality of the two. So yeah, research before making your purchase decision
Best key solution ever is the LV 6 key case. Compact, jingle free, sleeve on the interior holds cards and/or cash. I never leave home without mine. ST DuPont also makes amazing pens. You should look at Schon DSGN pens. I think you'd like Ian's stuff. Sorry man, Rolex is a no. They are a poor customer experience and mad expensive.
@@liberioescriba6158 tell me you never had proper luxury without telling me you never had proper luxury And besides that, if you don't know something about something, don't talk about it as if you are a master at it
on knife, if you need a swiss army knife, you are better served with a slightly more bulky kit that has what you need there, and a good knife can save your life in an emergency, I would pay for good steel over brand name. for the key holder, I would go the more expensive one, just so the keys don't eat away at my pockets or damage anything else in them for the light, whatever gets me by, if I have a flat tire I want a mountable flashlight, personally would probably go with neither of these and head mount flashlight for writing tool, im partial to brush pens or pens that mimic brushes, but if I don't want borderline markers, a hi-tec-c if I need a pen or a clutch pencil with a 2mm core. for watch, I give it to smart watches, I hate Casio's and I hate rolexes, even cheap smart watches give me functionality that I would prefer to have, but if we have to go with a mechanical watch, I would go with a skeletonized wrist watch, I just greatly prefer seeing the mechanical nature if its mechanical. for lighter, the butane zippo is better hands down, though I would probably get a different shell. for wallet, honestly, just something to hold a single card or a few bills is all I need, whatever gets that job done is the choice.
Comparing apples to oranges, multi tools to pocket knives, utility watches to fashion watches. Not fair comparisons, a leatherman is better than a Swiss Army knife unless you core apples or open wine often, and a Casio pro trek is much better than the Casio you showed.
I would comment that key covers are basically essential on a security standpoint because an experienced locksmith can copy your keys just by seeing them (FYI, if those keys shown in this video are keys you actually use, beware), which means covering the bitting provides an additional layer of security without you having to worry about never taking your keys out in public.
@@evrythingis1 Me and you probably don't need to worry about that, yeah. Someone with a channel with a quarter of a million subscribers probably does. Also, lockpicking requires not only knowledge and experience, but you'll look suspicious if you try lockpicking, while having a key means you can use it in any context and nobody will bat an eye at it. Btw, a key blank costs pennies, and a locksmith with experience is able to cut a new key in seconds, so... If you can't see the threat of that, sorry to tell you but you're the bot lmao
I choose Sailor over Kaweco any day. To sell a pen and sell a clip. That's way too scummy for my taste. Just like Apple sells over priced monitor stand, and Creative Assembly sells Bloodpack for games called Warhammer. It's not about the price. It's about the respect. Not for anyone who see the luxury, but for the corpo to us the customers. Unlike something like Google, we have many choices. Kaweco can make the most gorgeous pen in the world, but I'd rather buy Lamy Safari - and face it, on luxury side they won't top Namiki any time soon.

@@ducttaperulestheworlI consider that anything above Seiko, citizen, or Hamilton isn't necessarily better quality in the areas you'll worry about. Stick to brands and prices ranges like this and you can get the best value
I'm from the part for the world where the things you showed as inexpensive are very expensive for anyone to own😅😅😅
Last comment would be that luxury does not have to mean flashy and attention seeking.
After watching many these videos, I still prefer not having any of these things regardless whether cheap or expensive.
Nice video!
But why not choose the Ranger instead of the Huntsman?
Expected everything to cost more on the expensive side rather than it all really being focuses on the watch. If we're going from cheap casio EDC to expensive watch EDC, you should have something in casio's oceanus line there.
For me Streamlight makes great lighting products
DuPont has slim butane torch lighters that are more affordable, lighter and more elegant.
I'd say have both, for different occasions.
You are making a target of yourself with the fancy watch
Ima be real when I saw everyday carry I thought you were talking about my freedom stick😂😂😂
Amazing video as always! Very funny and interestingwhen you bring us these videos that compares different levels of EDC. Thanks again for your great work and effort!
Take care
Ye thanks. But what interest's you the most. I'm currently looking for what you guys like the most.
Rolex GMT Master II is impossible to purchase at retail price. The grey market price is about 17,000.
Is it worth it? Yes.... If you can afford it. Then 100% yes.
Great quality video!
kislux versace bag is so cute
Nice comparison, I'm ok with expensive premium items if it makes me smile! I am very hard on my gear so i try to find high value to quality . By the way sick pin storage....tell me more please. Thanks Maurice, From South Texas Matt
Watched entire video just for AE1200, lol but I enjoyed
Bellroy wallet is more expensive and worse than slimfold if we really want to optimise our wallets. The slimfold is lower profile and faster access to whatever you want from the wallet.
Take out the watch and lighter, other expensive items are actually better quality! Especially the knife and torch, the more expensive version are good value for money if you consider what they can do and how long they can last.
You need some Casio protrek or mudmaster with compass
"If you have it" yes, the Rolex GMT Master is worth it, but like someone else said, it can attract the wrong kinds of attention in certain places.
2:13 I would suggest Orbitkey instead of Bellroy in this case 100%, even though I own Bellroy wallet which had been serving me for like 8 years already and had backpack from them as well.
Good luck trying to walk into a Rolex authorised dealer & trying to purchase that GMT.
Whether luxury is worth it or not, depends on what you want. luxury for stuff you want, but things you need in your edc but don't want to pay a premium, get the budget, so you can save up for the premium you want.
Dude wanted to show off the watch and called it a video
🤣
and I learned the first time that the Rolex GMT has a bidirectional bezel. Somehow I missed this from Hodinkee videos 😕
The funny thing is Rolex isn’t even considered that high end among many collectors
@@faubourglincoln I’m talking about the lower end models like the oyster perpetual. but of course to the layman paying 6k for a watch is still quite a lot
i agree as a collector
The Wallet/cardholder & key holder sure I'd upgrade too, then swap out the ring watch for a gold one. Maybe get the insert for my Made in Niagara Falls ON Zippo while I'm here. Pretty good lists laid out here.
In term of pocket knige, personally i will go with the victorinox farmer, and aplerged and got the alox veraion for better grip
I would have went for a montblanc pen
Video doesn't do justice to the Casio Royale, i love a fancy watch as much as the next person, but I love my humble little world timer.
Honestly I love watches and knives, those are the 2 main things which I’d spend on however much is financially responsible (+a little bit probably😅) further I don’t carry a light or lichter (even though I should, I have a cheap but good wallet and I just have a small carabiner on my belt where I can clip keys on…
I want the flashlight man.
Only Dupont that matters is Royce
I'd Pick a Lamy fountain pen for 20 usd for the budget option.
A bic pen for a couple pence seems better for the budget one tbh 😅😅
Best key solution ever is the LV 6 key case. Compact, jingle free, sleeve on the interior holds cards and/or cash. I never leave home without mine. ST DuPont also makes amazing pens. You should look at Schon DSGN pens. I think you'd like Ian's stuff. Sorry man, Rolex is a no. They are a poor customer experience and mad expensive.
that montblanc wallet is a joke :/
everything montblanc makes is a joke
@@imiszasz2442 Why?
@@liberioescriba6158 just say you can’t afford it
@@liberioescriba6158 tell me you never had proper luxury without telling me you never had proper luxury
And besides that, if you don't know something about something, don't talk about it as if you are a master at it
Except Montblanc Explorer, that fragrance it's great.
on knife, if you need a swiss army knife, you are better served with a slightly more bulky kit that has what you need there, and a good knife can save your life in an emergency, I would pay for good steel over brand name.
for the key holder, I would go the more expensive one, just so the keys don't eat away at my pockets or damage anything else in them
for the light, whatever gets me by, if I have a flat tire I want a mountable flashlight, personally would probably go with neither of these and head mount flashlight
for writing tool, im partial to brush pens or pens that mimic brushes, but if I don't want borderline markers, a hi-tec-c if I need a pen or a clutch pencil with a 2mm core.
for watch, I give it to smart watches, I hate Casio's and I hate rolexes, even cheap smart watches give me functionality that I would prefer to have, but if we have to go with a mechanical watch, I would go with a skeletonized wrist watch, I just greatly prefer seeing the mechanical nature if its mechanical.
for lighter, the butane zippo is better hands down, though I would probably get a different shell.
for wallet, honestly, just something to hold a single card or a few bills is all I need, whatever gets that job done is the choice.
Ever since I bought a watch from AMZWATCH , My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
Secrid wallets are the best wallets
Comparing apples to oranges, multi tools to pocket knives, utility watches to fashion watches. Not fair comparisons, a leatherman is better than a Swiss Army knife unless you core apples or open wine often, and a Casio pro trek is much better than the Casio you showed.
Ain’t no pen better than a pilot g2
i don't need any those of it. İ think also most of people
What part of Japan had the Casio gashapon machine? Do you think they will still have them? I will be in Japan in a few weeks from now.
LOL, these bot comments are getting weirder and weirder. Who the hell worries about copying a key when a $5 lock pick will do?
@@evrythingis1 Me and you probably don't need to worry about that, yeah. Someone with a channel with a quarter of a million subscribers probably does. Also, lockpicking requires not only knowledge and experience, but you'll look suspicious if you try lockpicking, while having a key means you can use it in any context and nobody will bat an eye at it.
Btw, a key blank costs pennies, and a locksmith with experience is able to cut a new key in seconds, so...
If you can't see the threat of that, sorry to tell you but you're the bot lmao
Thank you highlighting, calling my locksmith now to copy his keys.
@@vintner_ Holy moly, do you have some type of brain damage?
I choose Sailor over Kaweco any day. To sell a pen and sell a clip. That's way too scummy for my taste. Just like Apple sells over priced monitor stand, and Creative Assembly sells Bloodpack for games called Warhammer.
It's not about the price. It's about the respect. Not for anyone who see the luxury, but for the corpo to us the customers. Unlike something like Google, we have many choices. Kaweco can make the most gorgeous pen in the world, but I'd rather buy Lamy Safari - and face it, on luxury side they won't top Namiki any time soon.
Luxury specifically implies that it's value is not representative of what you're actually getting.
I love the Video but I don’t get the knife. What do you Need it for in everyday Carry?
