I like to keep a sharpie or 2 in mine so I can write on more surfaces than what a pen can. and a pack of post-it notes to go along with a note pad/book
I love buying EDC stuff but I actually don't carry anything but a flashlight, pocket knife, wallet and keys. I have a lot of bags, tool kits, etc that never get any real use
All I carry for everyday use is small flashlight, basic multitool, pepper spray, pocket planner with pen, and a small first aid kit. It covers 90%+ of what I need all carried on my person in my Duluth Trading vest.. I have a backpack in the car with more supplies that I can draw on for special circumstances. When you carry 25-35ozs of self defense you don't want to be dragging around a bunch of stuff you rarely use.
What if you need to charge a device and there’s no wall outlets around…….This is why you should have some sort of battery bank in your bag too👍🏻Awesome video it’s always nice to see what other people carry in their bag.
In a go-everywhere module that fits all my packs, I've got a reverse charging 18650 flashlight held in reserve specifically for phone charging (and the rare large lighting task), as well as a 14500 flashlight for regular lighting needs.
I can't carry those 10 EDC essentials even if I want to, it's just that I don't use all of that, feels like overpacking lol. I keep my EDC simple just like my airtag wallet, airpods, keys, powerbank sometimes, and a mini flashlight that I keep onto my keys as well, all of this on my slingback which is very small (just the necessary). Anyone else?
Sureee, I got both of them in January I think, and till the day has been amazing. The OLight iMini 2 (Amazon) and VN200 (Vionentus). The mini flashlight is very tiny, doesn't bother and either do the wallet
My EDC is funny because its a molle pouch attached to my belt with some buckles. Its like a small ifak pouch that can easily be unattached. It holds band aids, alcohol swabs, wallet, Olight mini, pen, all-weather notebook, some chord, powerbank and charger. The reason why its a belt is because I have a bad habit of leaving things in my pockets and destroying them when doing laundry. I change pants almost every day, but I always use the same belt.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. My EDC pack got broken apart and dispersed into my truck or office a while back. It's been on my mind to repack/update. Keep up the great work!
If you do a lot of work on the go I'd also suggest a portable surge protector. The last thing you need is to have a piece of gear get "zapped" by a power surge when plugging in at coffee shops or other random places. It's probably not all that likely to happen but as someone who once had a laptop component get fried by a power surge I'd HIGHLY recommend it.
Solid video! Beauty of EDC is while there is commonly accepted ideas, many people cater to their own lives. My biggest disagreement is the battery pack. Having a solid battery pack in your EDC backpack is truly a must in my opinion. I carry a couple USB A and C bricks and cords for multiple devices (for me and others) and it takes up a fraction of the space in one of my two interior mesh pocket. I’d argue it takes up less space than your plug in extension/multi charging cable and long cord setup. This isn’t me throwing any disrespect but the beauty of a battery pack is there’s no need for outlets and any hikes, emergencies or daily use comes with knowing you’ll always have your lifeline open to you because you can charge it right from your pack. Not to mention the mobile side of it. No need to stay stationary and be stuck in place waiting for a charge. Whereas deciding not to carry a battery pack and instead a charging cable, it assumes you’ll have access to a charging location.
Solid recommendations. Sling Bag makes sense for travel maybe not everyday. But our backgrounds are different. Also I'd put a more powerful flashlight in the bag and scrap a backup wallet. I like the heroclip for sure.
Something I grew quite fond of are the Grid-It organizers from Cocoon. These are really great when you have a big pouch and a bunch of items that you'd otherwise just dump in it.
A lot of cool stuff for sure and thanks for sharing. For me I’ve made a concerted effort to stop acquiring so much gear. It’s just an endless rabbit hole. 🤷🏼♂️
Great video! So my recommendation is seasonal clothing/cover. So winter I keep spare wool socks, wool hat and gloves. Summer I might have a cooling towel, sunscreen and a boonie just as a backup. I get sweaty year round doing work I love having spares
8:25 one small note, for first aid kits. only carry what you know how to use, you could potentially cause more harm than good if you don’t know how to use what is in your first aid kit.
Minor note on the velcro cable ties, the smaller teeth (aka smoother) velcro can get less grip if it gets dusty. I I've velcro at work and have some of those exact ones you showed and they don't hold as well if I use them with concrete or drywall dust
Chain stitch the cable so you have both working ends close at hand and quickly access just the cordage you need. LOVE YOUR videos. Keep up the great work
It's basically modern day informercials that compels us to impulse buy haha but I do discover little gems here and there in these videos so it's all good.
11:15 - does anyone else struggle with their Field Notes getting destroyed when carried in leather covers like this? Are we not supposed to tuck both the cover and back page under the leather? Whenever I do, the notebook lasts a couple months at best before the beautiful cover falls off, it gets warped before that from opening & closing. I had to switch to the orange rainproof ones just so it wouldn't fall apart. I've got half dozen of these filled out but with cover broken off, some covered in tape to hold them together :/
I always have a pair of nitrile coated ANSI A4 gloves. Good to protect from heat, broken glass, chemicals or whatever filth I get stuck dealing with, and cheap enough that I don't mind discarding them. I like a solid colored handkerchief in case I need a work surface. Staring at a busy printed pattern while working with small parts sucks.
I would also recommend carrying a small hank of paracord or bankline (10-25 ft), a small roll of duct tape, and at least 2 (preferably 3) ways to start a fire. I carry a ferro rod, hurricane matches and a bic lighter.
I carry a 'hybrid' bag to work every day and live/work in an urban environment. Besides my work laptop and thermo-isolated coffee mug (which can also carry water if needed), I have my video camera kit (cam, mic, SD card) with me. In my bag I also carry an EDC that comes out on a daily base. What i've noticed is that a lot of things are nice to carry for that 'occasional' need (multitool, knipex, FAK, charger), but actually slimmed it down to true EDC stuff. For those that work at the office but want to have a small EDC to 'extend' your stay if there's a blackout etc., here's what I carry: - Amazon Tactical Fanny Pack, basicly a small MFAK - Victorinox pocket knife with scissors, knife, cork screw, tweezers and toothpick - Veektomx 10kmah powerbank (small/light) with cable for phone and camera - small bandaids - pain killers for headaches or muscle sores - Citrosan (combination of concentrated vitamine C and paracetamol) - Single use hand warmer sachets - Small sewing kit with scissors, thread and most importantly: needles - Carabiner There's loads and loads of room left, but I don't feel the need for anything extra rather than maybe a pocketwrench. If you have a complete backpack, swap out the 10kmah powerbank for a Jackery 100. It's small, relatively light and chargers both laptops and phones.
Good list of items. Many of the things I tend to carry myself. I got an Analogue Pocket back in August and yes, retro gaming is a blast. Highly recommended!
The one thing I always thought was silly was handkerchiefs, but I was going through a lot of tissue when winter came in, so I got some to lower my tissue expenses. Now I carry 3 at all times in my backpack and 1 in my pocket. 3 are cotton; 1 for my hands and 2 for my nose. 1 is microfiber for my phone screen and food knife. I recommend them to so many people because they end up using one of my clean ones regularly.
A good bandana has a hundred and one uses. I never leave the house without one. I keep one in my pants pocket, one in my jacket pocket, and one in my bag.
I was watching a prep video one time and this guy really shed light on the use of good, old fashion white cotten handkerchiefs. He had washed a new banana in with his wife's clothes and ruined them. She obviously freaked. So the light bulb went off in his head about using these things to prefilter water. This has to be one of the biggest DAH issues in the entire prepping community. Going even beyond chemical dyes in average soaps, laundry detergants and fabric softeners. I mean Tide Pods, hello. So to think of going to the effort to save a water filter or better purify water by dumping in dyes and detergants is laughable really. Not to mention the effect on the actual filter 😅. An one more thing is to advise people that a Smaug or Bandana can be used as a wound dressing is pretty scary as well. In the world wars they would shred up white cotten or linnen bedsheets and the dyes back then were far more natural then the chemicals and fabric treatments another thing, or crap we use as sun blockers, or the big one bug sprays, DEET, Permethrian, etc...that get on everything we come in contact with .... SMH. Can you imagine using a banana you had around your neck, or a smaug over your head, or part of a shirt now to prefilter 😆 drinking water ? And no one talkes about it .... I mean...?????
That first aid kit you’re holding in the video with brown and red cross I’m interested in that. Where did you get that? I need something a little bit bigger.
Can anyone link me to whatever that ZF med pouch is or something similar to it in size? I’m having trouble finding one and I’m just looking for something small to switch between bags so I can easily keep everything inside up to date. Preferably in red, please. 7:20
Regarding that backpack: Taylor, any chance you have dogs or cats that leave hair around? If so, how's the backpack's fabric when it comes to pet hair sticking to it? As you may know, some kinds of Cordura serve as pet hair magnets. Have you any insights on this backpack's fabric in this regard? Thanks in advance for any feedback, Taylor. I'm thinking of ordering this backpack.
Good choice. BTW are water resistent/proof notebook cover available options? (your video inspired me asking this bag pack rain scene followed by notebook cover scene)
We have traveled Internationally for years and often someone gets a card scanned/hacked/stolen before you get out of the first International Airport, despite whatever protections you are taking. I also take extra cards in a RFID pouch as back up. BUT! and it's a big but, One of those cards is always a AMX as while everyone else will make sure you get a replacement card when you get back home, AMEX will delivery one to you on your trip, in my case often within 24 hours. Additionally they have some of the best emergency medical/evacuation plans available on a card, and my favorite if someone scams you they take your money back no questions asked.
Great video to see all the gear and items but I have never carried that much stuff on me for an EDC to carry it everyday. I carry my knife a lighter, a multitool on my belt a pen, my personal protection and what I have in my wallet and that's it, I never have time for all the stuff you have there, man I could spend a whole day in my backpack if I had all that stuff on me and I wouldn't get anything done then, LOL. Awesome gear and great video. subbed
14:25 yep, the Finnish store Varusteleka makes "large merino wool shemagh" (large as in 43" x 43" large) under 50 bucks, they look very similar to yours
A chemlight or Whats it called a lightstick. Something for that purpose of signaling and you just don’t want to toss your flashlight on the ground. And some paracord you can’t go wrong with some rope, just an extra shoelace or something like that. You don’t need to go all bug out . Other than that I think you have a great setup for walking around the office and home. I have a Wera tool check plus for a toolkit and it works great for 90% a small first aid kit and some way of changing in my back pack and I really appreciate having space in the pack for what ever I’m doing that day, like going to the park I need a water bottle and a jacket. I’m going down town I might need to bring a shopping bag or two. Going to the beach toss in a swim trunks and a towel. So by reducing what I carry in my “EDC” backpack I can actually carry more. If that makes sense. I just have to be careful not to feel the need to fill it up with stuff I might need. For that I have a different bag.
I really like the Tuff Possum Survival Notebook Wallet, but I have a question... does a standard Field Notes notebook fit in there? I think it doesn't right?
There is not an endless list of things to carry. At some point the desire to publish on a steady basis uses up all of your subject matter. Good, new, usable info that is not a repeat beats the self imposed need for constant content.
Best notebooks hands down is Midori aka travelers company. It’s a modular notebook system, amazing leather, paper that’s thin and doesn’t bleed through. It surpasses field notes and rite in the rain by miles. I’ve had mine 10+ years and never plan on changing
Hey Taylor, I remember a video you made detailing your frustrations and triumphs with a lock pick kit. I got a kit for my son for Christmas and he is noticeably frustrated, but I can't find your vid on how you managed and got through your frustrations. Could you please clue me in on where I might find it? Thanks .
I always carry a roll up shopping bag or plastic bag in my urban edc bag, for ...carrying shopping. And a hank of cord, most often used for carrying larger boxes or slinging them over by shoulder. A small 250cc water bottle. About 1 cup of water for drinking and washing hands or knife blade.
About that secondary wallet thing--YES! On a trip abroad, my wife's bag was stolen. Very luckily, her version of one of our cards had a different number than MY version of that card. After canceling the stolen cards, we were able to continue the trip without much interruption. Now I will PLAN around having a back-up credit card--as your back-up wallet would provide for.
it sucks that in the netherlands you cant get any of these small med pouches or any of the writing pouches/sleeves you use.. i really would love some, but i cant find them anywhere
I've always thought it was stupid but I do carry a spare wallet in my EDC for all those stupid membership cards that everyone hands out for those membership points and discounts. There are too many of them to stick in your main wallet but, the moment you leave them home is the moment you end up in the grocery/ gas station/ restaurant/ convenience store that's handing out those points and giving out those discounts. I also do the sling in backpack thing because I have a lot of stuff in my BP that I don't really need to bring with me for a grab-and-dash, so I just grab the sling leave the pack in the car. I don't game but I do watch videos and listen to music so I bring a tablet instead of a console. I also bring headphones or earbuds so others don't have to hear what I'm listening to. I usually have a reusable grocery bag for emergency shopping. I also like bringing a compact camera, even though the one on my phone gets used most often. Just old school. And even though I don't smoke, I have an arc lighter on me always. Very practical for burning off those stray threads.
The pack in this video is awesome! That internal tray system is genius! I think we have a similar approach to separation of items. I have a system I call OWN EDC. ON ME; WITH ME; NEAR ME. On me: in my pockets or attached to me. With me: a sling/pouch that is always within reach. Near me: a bag with larger items that I want to always have available. I often leave this in my vehicle because I am able to have it close by 95% of the time. (*I'm not talking about a GHB that is designed to be packed and left alone ready to go) Which category each of my EDC items falls into depends on what I am doing each day. The items don't change much, just how I carry them.
I was happy to see this video popping up, thinking finally something put in a backpack for those of us whose entire hobby doesnt revolve around carrying random, overpriced titanium bits around all day... I didnt expect the entire backpack to BE edc. I mean, I put edc items in a backpack when I use a backpack to carry other stuff I need anyway. Filling the entire thing to the brim with consumerist porn kinda defeats the whoie purpose of the backpack to begin with for me at least. Im probably going to get crap for this here but im sorry, this was a miss for me.
Same philosophy with regular luggage when you travel or go on vacation. You don’t fill it to capacity when to leave home, just what you need due a couple changes which leaves you room to buy more if needed or space to put your souvenirs. Some people just throw away old clothes on vacation also which again leaves you room in the luggage due other things if needed.
Just curious on how often you run into a situation where you need a 15 foot long USB cable? To be perfectly honest you are better off with an Anker power bank that is portable enough to keep right next to you and just get a four or five USB cord. With the Anker it doesn't matter if there is an outlet nearby or even one available you are still good to go.
I've been enjoying the background item(s) in your vids--the FRA-JEE-LAY leg lamp, and now the...tactical dude? I look forward to whatever will be over your shoulder in the future. :-)
I keep a small roll of dog poo bags. Sometimes you gotta pick up something nasty or you just need a bag that you don’t really care about. Most are biodegradable now so it feels a little better than a plastic Walmart bag
Varusteleka, the Finnish company that sells the Skrama knife for example, have merino wool square scarfs from their own Särmä brand. Either 110cm x 110cm(shemagh size) or 56x56. They ship internationally as well. They have a bunch of excellent merino stuff.
How does the toolkit and the bum bag compliment each other? In another video you had a bunch of tools in the bum bag. Curious to hear what you carry in the tool pouch
Genuine question, why does every edc contain a write in the rain notebook and pen? I've not written a note in years. If I need to make a note I use my phone, anything vitally important I remember. I've not left a note for anyone since I don't know when...I carry a pencil and can always find a bit of paper. The pencil is tinder material too
12:39 Rikki had a good point *crickets* lolol

I just got a rite in the rain/field notes organizers myself for work, edc. I like the fact that it protects my rite in the rain notebook
My fav EDC videos are the ones for car camping and backpacking❤❤❤
Where did you get the little red pouch for your small medical kit?
Great video to see all the gear and items but I have never carried that much stuff on me for an EDC to carry it everyday. I carry my knife a lighter, a multitool on my belt a pen, my personal protection and what I have in my wallet and that's it, I never have time for all the stuff you have there, man I could spend a whole day in my backpack if I had all that stuff on me and I wouldn't get anything done then, LOL. Awesome gear and great video. subbed
How heavy is your backback in this configuration? I would say less is more. Thank you for doing this reviews .
Just got the 5.11 Moab 10, sling bag. As an EDC bag. Good choice ?
It doesn't, sadly. I've asked Jayberry to make it happen. We'll see lol
@@BestDamnEDC Thanks Taylor! Hope he comes to terms 😀
Wuben X3 is good. lightweight, 180 degrees turing head, magnetic bottom. Its a must to me. 👍
There is not an endless list of things to carry. At some point the desire to publish on a steady basis uses up all of your subject matter. Good, new, usable info that is not a repeat beats the self imposed need for constant content.
Is it possible to buy the tray from inside the backpack itself?
IS that 3 inch or 4 inch for the ZF first aid kit?
Whats that sharpener with the strop
I keep an umbrella in my bag. Very useful especially with a newborn.
What make/model/brand is the blue mini knife sharpener/strop in your mini tool kit?
What's the magnetic thing right in the middle with the triangular orange corner?
What was that sharpener at 1:45? Looked really nice and compact
WHERE can I get that knife sharpener in the tool kit ?
Best notebooks hands down is Midori aka travelers company. It’s a modular notebook system, amazing leather, paper that’s thin and doesn’t bleed through. It surpasses field notes and rite in the rain by miles. I’ve had mine 10+ years and never plan on changing
What's the honing tool with leather strop in your tool bag? Thanks
Man, I love that backpack. Don't like the price point, but you pay for what you get. Quality.
what lockpick set is that at 10:31 ?
Where did you get that smallest red medic pouch that says ZF on it? I am looking for one that size.
Thanks .
what is the probe looking device with the twine wrap?
I always carry a roll up shopping bag or plastic bag in my urban edc bag, for ...carrying shopping. And a hank of cord, most often used for carrying larger boxes or slinging them over by shoulder.
A small 250cc water bottle. About 1 cup of water for drinking and washing hands or knife blade.
I always roll with a compress-to-fist-sized air weight Patagonia daypack in my main pack. Sea to Summit makes one too.
wtf kind of day are you having?
Gonna ask. When we getting the Carry Commission version of the Bum Bag XL?
Hi, what’s your hone /strop? Thx
Love the gear. What brand is your wedding band?
About that secondary wallet thing--YES! On a trip abroad, my wife's bag was stolen. Very luckily, her version of one of our cards had a different number than MY version of that card. After canceling the stolen cards, we were able to continue the trip without much interruption. Now I will PLAN around having a back-up credit card--as your back-up wallet would provide for.
Enjoyed it Taylor.
Merry Christmas man!
it sucks that in the netherlands you cant get any of these small med pouches or any of the writing pouches/sleeves you use.. i really would love some, but i cant find them anywhere
Thank you for this video. Well done!
What is the lockpick set at 10:30?
Tom Bihn (a bag company) make a wool utility cloth. They come in two sizes, and one is pretty large like the older one you showed
Can’t find the video’s Baseus charger on their website. Can anyone advise? Thx
Nice video... and gear... just that "blowup doll" at the corner caught me off guard... 😅
Oh yeah big idea design makes great stuff. I already got my pre-order in for that backpack. Can’t wait for it to show up.
Do you have a link for those big orange carabiners I see on your slings?
Where did you get that hoodie?
Totally agree. I was wondering what happens if he actually needs to carry something in his bag 😅
I use it for my MacBook. And you don't always have to use all 15'. You know that, right?
FYI you should carry a short charging cable too. that long one will take hours upon hours to charge your phone.
Dope vid! Those little tins at the end were sweet 🔥
They're $70! I'm all about paying for quality but dayum.
Could you ever do an airplane EDC maybe? I'm taking a plane trip soon and was wondering if you have any TSA safe stuff.
I keep a UCO camping fork/knife/spoon set in my bag that gets regular use.
You need the griffin scout medic in your medic kit
The pouch in the backpack is a gamechanger.
Varusteleka, the Finnish company that sells the Skrama knife for example, have merino wool square scarfs from their own Särmä brand. Either 110cm x 110cm(shemagh size) or 56x56. They ship internationally as well. They have a bunch of excellent merino stuff.
Good to know!
I came here to post the same because I had no idea north x north shut down. I apparently put off buying one for too long
Is that the xl bum bag? My skittiles pouch takes up the entire side
Yes
Ooooo. Titanium buckles and badges on the backpack?! What a way to make a bag more expensive for no beneficial reason that isn't just aesthetic.
How does the toolkit and the bum bag compliment each other? In another video you had a bunch of tools in the bum bag. Curious to hear what you carry in the tool pouch
I've since moved those tools into their own thing since putting the Arc in my pocket. And all the tools in the pouch are listed in the description
Who makes that bandana
The link for the retro gaming isn’t working. Does anyone else know where to find it?
Genuine question, why does every edc contain a write in the rain notebook and pen? I've not written a note in years. If I need to make a note I use my phone, anything vitally important I remember. I've not left a note for anyone since I don't know when...I carry a pencil and can always find a bit of paper. The pencil is tinder material too
