Have you considered a tailor's measuring tape as a replacement for your measuring tape? It's lightweight, supercompact, made of fiberglass-vinyl, completely flexible so you can fold it to fit very small pockets, it wraps around things, and in a pinch, it can be used as cordage or even to tie up gauze around a wound, and it has metric and imperial measurements. I also recommend a small package of sugar to go in the pocket with your coffee and vitamins. You never know when someone diabetic might be having a crash. It can be life-saving and it's like 5 grams and less than an inch for a life-saving item. Plus, it can go on your coffee.
@14:01 These kind of dipped handles on the cobra will NOT protect you from live electrical circuits because they are supposed to provide just grip. There are other models of cobras that are 1000 volts rated (10k volts tested). Don’t know if any one else on the comments pointed this out, even if so, still it needs to be addressed as it is a major safety issue. Other than that great video! Have a great one from Greece!
Love your setup. You pretty much have it covered. The only thing I would add would be about 10 wraps of 1" gorilla tape to the Bic. I saw you had the duck tape on the card and that is good too, but gorilla is much better for repairs, binding, patching and of course firestarting. I love the Klein tool. I will definitely grab one of those and the Neiko sockets....awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Used to carry Zippos but they evaporated so fast that I switched to Clipper since they can be refilled and don’t evaporate. Always have a Bic on me as a backup.
Clipper are the sh!t, dry easier after the get wet (removable striker flint) also when inverted the flame gets bigger which can reach a little farther… also not made in china.
One thing we have in the UK so I'm guessing that you must have them across the pond is a debit card that is not linked to you or your bank account, you just go to the Post office and load it up with as much or as little money as you want and also cable ties are a must have I think you guys call them zip ties, thanks for the video some ideas

I love the SWAT-T not only for the reasons you gave but it's multifunctional. Odds of needing it as a tourniquet are probably low (but good to have)...but odds I could roll my ankle going for a walk are probably more likely and this can come in handy for that too. It'll also be an improvised arm wrap, can be used with a stick as a splint, and can hold a bandage on kind of like you showed. It's crazy the versitility of a wide stretchy band. I also like how it has instructions very big and clear on it so if I'm incapacitated and someone with no knowledge finds it I'd wager they have a better chance figuring that out versus doing a CAT without ever seeing one before.
I just got the same Charge about 3 months ago in a trade, and I absolutely love it. It never leaves my Vertx EDC Ready Pack that I take to work every day.
Switched to tarred bank line over parachute cord awhile back. Use tarred bank line in my EDC bag, car/tent camping tote and my vehicles. Duct tape, bailing wire, tarred bank line and WD-40 is my standard repair kit in my car/tent camping tote and vehicle tool kits. Going to check out that Guy Trendz pouches. Love Vanquest pouches but they are expensive. Nice to see an inexpensive alternative.
I frigging love you videos. I find your recommendations for real world, usable items, vs very expensive pocket jewelry (no offense meant to anyone, I carry a fancy knife but I lose/ruin tools and flashlights like it’s my job) finding a capable kit that’s actually made of usable and replaceable tools. Just so nice.
I've got a tiny 1/4" ratchet like that from Victorinox. Fits in an Altoids tin and works great for unhooking my car battery in a cramped engine compartment.
A really well thought-out EDC kit. I'm curious on the final overall weight? You have two items I want/need to add: a Swat-T (sp?) and the Klein ratchet. My two recommendations would be a pair of disposable med gloves [more to keep someone else from freaking out vs. My own safety if there is blood involved] and 4 zip ties. 2 each of two different sizes. Great vid!
As often as I need a flashlight, which is not often. I went with the Mini Mag, 127 luman light, and put a but cap switch on it. Plus a Light diffusing cone. I've carried a Gerber for so long that its now a part of me. Plus, it opens with one hand, and has full size pliers. If I need small pliers, I have those on my Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker knife. When I'm on my bike, I have a first aid kit and tool kit. To date, and I am 61 years old. That's been my kit of choice. Never needed much of anything else. I will get one of those wrenches that open taps, on the sides of commercial buildings, plus a small flask type canteen. Other then that. Its all good.
That system pretty much has anything one would need, very nice! Might be a touch overkill, but i would rather have a few extra items then be lacking something I need. I have limited bags I use, so i tend to set them up in the bag, rather than a large, interchangeable system, but with how u use them, makes sense. Great video as always!!
I have over time assembled some similar gear into smaller pouches that are grab and go as needed. Some of the items making the cut: Mora Companion fixed blade, Work Pro utility knife, Powerbuilt mini ratchet driver with mini extenders/bits/sockets (similar to your Klein system), 4' Crescent plier, 4" mini diamond file, Victorinox Ranger, Explorer electric lighter, Black Diamond Cosmo head lamp, Mini 4" Vice Grips with Leatherman in a belt pouch. Looks like I'm short the medical stuff...hmmm... something to think about adding.
I used to have a small ratchet like that but made by twosun it lasted me for years . Have been looking for a replacement and haven't found anything suitable yet . So thanks for that .
Honestly, this is the best EDC gear dump I’ve seen to date (and I’ve seen ALOT of them). Well done mate. Everything in this kit is super practical and a few gems there that I’ll be adding to my kit. Thanks for sharing!
I've done so much work with that Klein ratchet I lost track! What a great tool. Love the kit, brother. Here's one to consider: get you a Pentel P209 pencil, too. I carry one in my vest pocket every day doing trades work. Its a fantastic edc mech pencil, and the extra long lead support really comes in handy for odd jobs, like what you world use a pin or a toothpick for.
Additional option for SWAT-T alternative (for small limbs like kids and pets) is the Slishman. I know Refuge Medical carries them. They can do the same things like pressure wrap like the SWAT-T but are also 1 hand capable for applying. Ive got both but find myself carrying the Slishman more edc along with a CAT/SOF-T wide and keeping the SWAT-Ts in the home kit.
Good kit with a lot of quality gear, I find that with the tools for edc a lot if very situational depending on your line of work and what you use most frequently. For me, I've really slimmed down my edc a lot over the past year, taking a much more minimal approach. I take mental note of what I use day to day and if I never use it, it gets tossed from the edc rotation.
I carry budget folders daily. I'm hard on knives. I have very nice ones I carry for occasions but on the job day to day I carry budgets. If I break them I lose them so I'm always on the look out for good budgets. I watched the video when it came out then ordered one. It's a grt knife for the price. Thx
I like carrying a small vice grip. What can't you do with a vice grip? Also have a micro socket set with torx and screw bits. It is small enough to fit in a similar edc Pouch. I also include superglue, medical tape, zip ties, chap stick, bic lighter with duct tape wrapped around the lighter. A water key, which opens a water faucet on any commercial building. And, water purification tablets. Best.
I don't carry my pouch (Viperade) on me in the colder months. I just distribute my EDC throughout different dedicated jacket pockets. But when the warmer months come,I'll carry a pouch in a cargo pants pocket. Not loaded out as heavy/large as yours. Any extra stuff I use & carry goes into my lunch sling bag. Thank you for the suggestions & outstanding content.
G'day Aaron, EDC is always a fantastic subject for a vid, ...... the clue is in the acronym, i.e. it's an "everyday" concern ; ) Anyway, that's a shipload of capability ......... in a dinghy ; ) and makes perfect sense for multiple pack choices. Great stuff mate !!!!! Personally I use a dedicated EDC backpack, so size/weight is less of an issue for grab and go and of course facilitates clothing, food, water etc etc, i.e. the lot is already in there. + if you need to walk away from your vehicle, you can carry some extra from the vehicle kit if required. Btw; poncho = tarp if need be. Nice torch for the application, I think the first time I've seen where a propriety battery doesn't matter at all. Pleased to see the Niteze headstrap getting a gig, I dont bother with a headtorch for EDC. Must get a couple of their ties too, great little stand there mate, and of course other uses as well. I dont do multi tools, they're only good for bug out bags IMO, (though in fairness a bug out scenario "could" happen at anytime). Instead, I carry; Linesman's pliers, 6 in. half round metal file, Silky Pocketboy, Kingchrome ratchet screwdriver handle, (common "internal drive" bits stored in the handle), and in lieu of "external drive" sockets, a 6 in. adjustable spanner, (what we call a "shifter"). And I reckon those Knipex, (what we call "multigrips") are a very worthy carry. Must say that little boxcutter is a winner also. I always include a relatively small fixy of some description, even if its just a Mora. Oh yeah, a bit more of a prepper tool, but I reckon a silcox key is a must for it's size and weight, it can certainly be the difference between water ......... and no water. I do get on very well with paracord, though yeah, No. 36 bankline is enough for EDC IMO, and I dont go anywhere without a few carabiners too. Both a BIC and a ferro rod are mandatory IMO, together with the ol' vas impregnated cotton balls, (you can squash 20 odd in a film container). These 3 weigh next to nothing and guarantee many a fire with half decent kindling and fuel. I do like a bit more tape, so many uses; Gorilla or similar, and I throw in electrical tape too (+ med tape in the FAK). Amazing how many times I've had cause to use a little Fatmax, (2 meter jobs here). I've got 'em in packs, my vehicle and around the house. For a coupla knicker each, they'd have to be the best value "tool" one can buy. Cheers Duke.
Great video as always! An alternative powerbank and cable option to consider is the Nitecore NB10000 powerbank and the InCharge X multi function cable, quite a bit more compact and same capacity / usefulness 👍
Really impressed with your kit layout and descriptions... along with the tips for some good-quality, compact tools that are also budget-friendly. Lots of great gear options to consider. Thanks for sharing. 🖖🙂
An interesting choice with the Nitecore MT2A Pro. I like the simplicity of using the Niteize headband with it giving yourself a headlamp when needed. I just ordered the Acebeam Pokelit AA light with a similar intention in mind. Its also 1000 lumens but uses a single AA battery, it comes with a USB-C rechargable AA sized cell.
Love these types of videos that you do, the price point on the pouch is impressive. I am glad to see you still carry Alpine Start, I have those on me and in my car anytime I leave the house. The best instant coffee I have found.
I always always always have at least a 3” or bigger ferro rod and a bic. A zippo seams to dry up to fast and a small ferro rod is very difficult to use with cold hands. Great video, thanks. 🙏
Bic lighters are a single use piece of plastic. Once the gas runs out, they are tossed away and become another piece of the plastic problem on planet Earth. Clipper lighters do the same job as Bic lighters, but they are refillable with gas and new flints can be added. I have a Clipper lighter in my pack that I have owned for more than 25 years. It still works fine.
I feel the same way. I used to have Zippos for EDC but found it extremely annoying having to refill them every few days. That’s why I moved to Bics. Didn’t have the same problem as Zippos. Also, when comparing how much you can light with a single refill of a Zippo and a Bic; Bic wins all the time. They aren’t completely sealed, though. And evaporate after around a year, so I replace mine annually. Still much better than Zippos, though. Bics are more in line with the KISS principle which I try to follow all the time.
I totally use my little rachet (different brand) and have been very happy to have it on several occasions. As an EMT, I would suuuuuuper recommend some nitrile gloves as an addition to your ifak. You never know what someone else may be carrying with them on their insides or what you may introduce of your own or the environment that you've been touching, to their insides. I also carry swat t tourniquets. I've not had the need to use one, but it's good to know that they have performed from a reliable source. I've been watching you for probably 8 or 9 years at this point and I always appreciate your thoughts on the gear you use and how you incorporate it. Thanks!
Aaron, if you like MT2A Pro, you might look at the Acebeam Tac 2AA with the SFT-25 LED. Similar form factor, better UI and rated at higher lumens, candela and throw.
I like it, actually going to look into a few things. I carry a small med kit from LTC that’s about the size of a wallet and another good tool I carry is the pill bug from Wiseman Company it’s a small tool roll that allows you to put tools in it and roll it up and secure with a shock cord so it rolls up and stores small, and for my light I use the Cloud Defense Chico because it’s super bright and is very small. But I like your kit a lot very solid.
Bics are the go to for lighters. Or peanut(or other gasket) lighters. I am interested in a plasma lighter but I haven’t heard good things about them. Zippos suck(unless you get a contained insert)
Yes the charge is my go to leatherman as well . Has everything i need little i don't. Was wondering do leatherman sell the s35vn blade as an upgrade part .
That's an impressive kit you've put together for yourself, Aaron. It's definitely well thought out. I can now see how I can improve mine. That bag is really cool. I have to say, in terms of functionality and tool set, the Charge w/G10 definitely works better for me than the ARC. It's too bad that Leatherman didn't just improve on the Charge by using Magnacut and a couple of other tweaks to the platform. Thanks!
Do you actually carry this kit or does it live in your car? Having a kit you can grab in one go is nice, but if you have the space I’d throw in a few more essentials. Water, a jacket or blanket, extra pair of shoes and socks. Maybe even some food. Tow strap would also be a good idea. I haven’t had to tow a car with one yet, but it worked great for helping to lift a disabled person without hurting them.
I understand why you stayed with the Charge. I’ve seen posts where the handles on the Arc have been sharp enough to cut palms. There are some nice changes. But nothing about it compels me to spend $240 on the tool.
I don't have an EDC kit per se. My truck's toolbox and under the back seat is loaded with every tool or survival equipment I could need (and a lot of redundancy), along with a change of hunting clothes. Basically my truck is my EDC on stereoids. So on my person, I need nothing but my knife and gun.
Small multi tool in the pocket…. Or I use the case on my belt. Im cheap and have found the bibury multi tools to work pretty well. Usually I regret buying cheap but not the case one the 2 bibury I own. In the pocket I rock the leatherman micro when I go light.
Its better to carry a Clipper lighter then a Bic because you can refill them and the flint striker comes out and can be replaced and a new flint installed. I have the Leatherman Surge its been my go-to since day one. The fact that i can swap out the saw for the file or even take the dimond sharping bit to sharpen my blade is best you cant do that on the Arc.
I honestly don’t have a need for a tool kit like this. I carry my Leatherman Arc in a sheath on my left side. It has completely replaced all of my other multitools. I use it quite a bit for quick things like cutting a wire or zip tie, turning a bolt, turning a screw, etc. If I have a bigger task like working on a pump, blower, motor, vehicle, etc I have a work truck loaded with tools that are way better for those types of tasks. I am a water / wastewater treatment operator so there are a lot of things that I do that a small tool kit just doesn’t cut it. I do, however, have a get home bag in my truck as well with extra EDC items plus survival gear and a trauma medical kit.
Hii, the flashlight clip can be removed? And for a Keychain flashlight which one do you recommend? I saw the Rovyvon Aurora A4 Pro, they say it's perfect, in general they also speak well of the Olight i3 EOS, which one would you choose? Do you have one other than these to recommend?
my good old leatherman wave is still going strong. i had the intention of getting the charge g10 but just didn't press the trigger fast enough before it was discontinued
I am more of a minimalist. Now, is this something that you carry everywhere with you wherever you go no matter where you’re going.? I could see people in a kit like this in the car or if I’m going camping or hiking and I have a backpack. I could see it in my backpack that I take to work but I keep all my gear is a truck driver. But running to the store. Going to Walmart I don’t really see carrying that I may not really understand. I am not really an EDC guy about the extent of my EDC is a knife May be a cordless hole puncher, but I live in more urban Environment.
That flashlight of yours has a two way pocket clip. In your video you put it in the headband and happened to be wearing a hat. If you would have just clipped it to the top of your bill, that’s another great headlamp option
@@gideonstactical It was sold out, but thankfully some folks had it on ebay for just a couple bucks more than the original price. Thanks for the info! My favorite new patch!
Instead of a zippo get an imco they turn into a candle aswell cost maybe 10 bucks more or less and the fuel lasts in them around 2 weeks to a zippos 3 or 4 days
Magnets on a tool is the dumbest idea, swarf etc. magnacut vs other decent steels, there are Victorinox that are still going strong after 20 plus years. Strop regularly and sharpening is a rare event unless you abuse the blade.
Chapman tools makes a smaller more compact but just as useful 90 °ratcheting bit driver i keep right in with my leatherman bit kit because it's so thin and compact... but works awesome
Yes I love the klien mini ratcheting driver..paired with my leatherman and bit kit it works amazing..I do carry a another smaller ratcheting bit driver to... but love the klien as switching from tighting to loosening its awesome
Good but having a long screwdriver set is irreplaceable. Most stuff requires that narrow bar and extra length. Multitools handle surface screws but that’s about it. Other than that good kit.
my edc bag: I use a basic 2k lumen adjustable beam flashlight. The only thing I don't like about it is it has bump activated light settings like sos mode. That can be super annoying at times. multitool I use a leatherman juicy c2 or something like that. it's made for booze hounds and has a bottle opener and cork screw. I use it a lot though and it's the best multitool I've ever had. < 3 it so much knife a kershaw and another on me. I have a hygiene kit a medicine/pill organizer. a person mentioned sugar which i'll be adding to the list. 1st aid supplies. little essensials... bic, pen, pencil, sharpie phone charger, car plug, wall plug is MIA. earphones (MIA) my old bag had a sewing kit, new bag doesn't have room. gloves hat bandana 550 cord electrical tape socks undies and a few more miscellaneous
Very awesome kit Aaron....I just like to keep my sak huntsman along with the sog power pint for those smaller more delicate jobs...along with full size multi tool....
I love the mini worksharp field sharpener....I actually bought 2 and modified them to where each one has 2 ceramic stones and 2 diamond but I sanded away the ends allowing more of the stone to be accessible and usable... with out them falling out...

Instead, I carry;
Linesman's pliers, 6 in. half round metal file, Silky Pocketboy, Kingchrome ratchet screwdriver handle, (common "internal drive" bits stored in the handle), and in lieu of "external drive" sockets, a 6 in. adjustable spanner, (what we call a "shifter").

Thanks for the info!
That's the exact powerbank and charger cable I carry in my EDC pouch. Great pieces of kit that I recommend all the time!
Great point!
Zippos aren't great for a system like this. They require refilling every 3 days or so. A bic lighter will take years to become useless.
@@woodyatwes9372who cares?
@@johnnysilverhand1733 I do, and I reserve the right to express my opinions here.
Unless it explodes in a hot tent 😳.
I love your system, and for a multi-tool, I carry a Leatherman Surge. Had that surge forever. Great video!
Really appreciate it!
Thanks!
Nice! And yep, that ratchet system is the bomb 👊🏻. Great vid.
I used to carry and use the Nite Ize coated gear ties, and the wire inside does not last if the tie is used repeatedly. I gave up on them years ago.
Should consider a clipper lighter rather than a bic, the clippers great as has the removable sparker If you run out of lighter fluid
Wow, someone who understands the meaning of "every day". Cheers!
Any thought on emergency navigation? Waterproof area topo map and a compass?
Ya not really what I was thinking when I built
What kind of backpack is it at 06:06?

@@gideonstactical Thanks!
Totally that is a really nice feature
Yes the nitecore clip can be removed. And any Aurora light will be good just pick the size.
This video is fantastic, Aaron. Much appreciated! I intend to copy you on most of that.
Really glad you like it.
What’s the mfr and model of the blade not in the edc pack at 10:56?
Giant Mouse video coming soon
my good old leatherman wave is still going strong. i had the intention of getting the charge g10 but just didn't press the trigger fast enough before it was discontinued
Great video! Thank you for sharing your episode about the SWAT - T.
Perfect timing! Just got home with a Daka utility large!
Sweet!!
Where can I find the Neiko ratchet bits?
amzn.to/3IENVfi it is in the gear list link 🔗
@@gideonstactical Thank you sir. I sometimes have night shift brain. I’m going to grab a few things from this gear list.
Hi ya'll what about the orange handle thing
It’s a Sharpal sharpener
Love the pouch. You need another form of fire stater your choice, one is none.
That flashlight of yours has a two way pocket clip. In your video you put it in the headband and happened to be wearing a hat. If you would have just clipped it to the top of your bill, that’s another great headlamp option
Thank you all these suggestions!
You're so welcome! Anytime!
Really interesting kit. Does anyone make a similar Size/setup Pouch in Wax Canvas?
Not that I am aware of
Realistic, Cool EDC. Thank you for the Video!
Thats an amzing case curently unavailable on amazon am from the uk also cant find it on uk amzon can you buy it any where else thanks
I really want the space force patch just sitting off to the side. Looks SO good!
511 tactical
@@gideonstactical It was sold out, but thankfully some folks had it on ebay for just a couple bucks more than the original price. Thanks for the info! My favorite new patch!
I almost got the Arc but I chose the Surge, bit kit, extension bit, glass breaker bit and clip/lanyard ring. All for the price of the Arc.
Instead of a zippo get an imco they turn into a candle aswell cost maybe 10 bucks more or less and the fuel lasts in them around 2 weeks to a zippos 3 or 4 days
Where's the otf? Where's the superglue suture system?
125mm wrench?
Would anyone have a link to those little sockets?
amzn.to/3IENVfi here is the link
@@gideonstactical dude and they’re 8 bucks….unbeatable. I have been searching for a small ratchet set for my tool pouch. This is perfect!
I'm just curious about the blue jacket you're wearing in some of your outdoor shots from this video.
Magnets on a tool is the dumbest idea, swarf etc. magnacut vs other decent steels, there are Victorinox that are still going strong after 20 plus years. Strop regularly and sharpening is a rare event unless you abuse the blade.
Where’s the link for the rachet set?
Click the Amazon link it is in the list 👍
@@gideonstactical found it thx
Chapman tools makes a smaller more compact but just as useful 90 °ratcheting bit driver i keep right in with my leatherman bit kit because it's so thin and compact... but works awesome
Yes I love the klien mini ratcheting driver..paired with my leatherman and bit kit it works amazing..I do carry a another smaller ratcheting bit driver to... but love the klien as switching from tighting to loosening its awesome
Aaron I’d add a couple of zip ties. They’re lightweight and come in handy.
Good idea
Love ur pocket, i search USA made, can u tell me the brand ?
Big up from south France !
Good but having a long screwdriver set is irreplaceable. Most stuff requires that narrow bar and extra length. Multitools handle surface screws but that’s about it. Other than that good kit.
Appreciate the feedback. Did you see my extension arm for my Leatherman? When you kick out the handle, gives you almost 6 inches of reach.
I am a Mountain Biker, often run into the the elements! What would you recommend on the waterproof side?
I live in Colorado and i like a fleece hoodie. Depending on the material they are somewhat water repellent and warm. Also light weight. Best
The pouch used in this video is discontinued on amazon but wynex has one thats the same size for the same price
my edc bag:
I use a basic 2k lumen adjustable beam flashlight.
< 3 it so much
knife a kershaw and another on me.
I have a hygiene kit
a medicine/pill organizer. a person mentioned sugar which i'll be adding to the list.
1st aid supplies.
little essensials... bic, pen, pencil, sharpie
phone charger, car plug, wall plug is MIA.
earphones (MIA)
my old bag had a sewing kit, new bag doesn't have room.
gloves
hat
bandana
550 cord
electrical tape
socks
undies
and a few more miscellaneous
and almost everything in my bag I routinely use. Anything I don't use or find useful gets cut.
CountyComm Adjustable Wrench - Titanium 4" !
Very awesome kit Aaron....I just like to keep my sak huntsman along with the sog power pint for those smaller more delicate jobs...along with full size multi tool....
That's a great idea!
Mt2a Pro is a great flashlight.
Those handles on those pliers are not insulated. You will get sent across the room if you touch the wrong thing.
I love the idea of an edc kit, mines alot more compact than yours buts its come in handy alot
I love the mini worksharp field sharpener....I actually bought 2 and modified them to where each one has 2 ceramic stones and 2 diamond but I sanded away the ends allowing more of the stone to be accessible and usable... with out them falling out...
Great video. Thanks for posting.
Awesome I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
Need a Gideons tactical ranger eye😊
Along with all that I also carry a scissors based multi tool as well..I go heavy on the tools!!!!😊
That is awesome!
Lighter is way better then anything else for starting fire and other stuff, and Bic is 100 times more reliable than zippo IMO.
I would agree 👍
@@gideonstactical also, a bic lighter with a little practice is a top notch bottle opener. Flawless victory
Nitecore makes top tier flashlights.
