    It’s not a waste if you actually use it. And since you do so much cooking from scratch, investing in good tools will save time and as you know, time is money. I love your authenticity in your videos. I appreciate that you don’t edit out the bloopers.

      Thank you! Sometimes I feel bad using things that are kind of pricey in our videos, but you are right we do so much from scratch it’s worth the investment.

      @@LittleHillHomesteadGaNo, don’t feel bad. I bought an All American Pressure canner like 25 years ago. It was pricey but felt the investment was worth it.

    Also, those oil sprayers are game changers! We have one for our olive oil and another for our popcorn butter/oil. SO GOOD!

    There is so much you can slice on it. Used one for work. Tomatoes, onions, lettuce (shredded lettuce for a group of tacos), cabbage for slaw, great investment!!

    Wow my husband and I just literally sliced a Turkey breast the other day for lunch meat. I portioned it into half pound portions and vac sealed for the freezer. I hadn’t thought about slicing cheese. Great idea! I just got a block of azures calico cheese and will try doing it to that for grilled cheese over the winter. I love having a slicer makes things so much easier.

      I have a spray bottle of water with dawn soap. I spray the whole thing down and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Wipes right down. I hear you though. They have lots of hidding spots. I usually plan a few things and do them all at the same time.

    Put a piece of wax paper or parchment paper whee the meat slices come out. It will keep that area cleaner making less cleanup.

    I have a Vevor grain mill - like for outdoor use. I could take wheat berries and grind them out in the shed, but have, so far, only used it for grinding up corn for chicks. I'm also going to grind up some oats I'm no longer feeding the horses for the chickens to use up along with their cracked corn. Chickens don't eat whole oats, in my experience, and I think it's because the oats are pointy and sharp. Anyway, my parents owned a hotel when I was very young. When they sold it, I was six or seven. When I got old enough to go to other people's houses (way out in the country, it was a long walk or bike ride), I was surprised to learn that no one else had a milk shake machine or a meat slicer in their basement. LOL! Normal is a setting on the washing machine! Oh, edited to add: my mother made the best cole slaw by slicing up the cabbage and carrots on the meat slicer very thin.

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've never thought about using a slicer for coleslaw, that's a great idea! I love your normal comment. 😂😂😂

    • @palominogirl2732
      @palominogirl2732 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@LittleHillHomesteadGa The normal comment is one of the few very memorable things I learned in a school bus driver meeting. After you've driven a few years, the meetings are repetitive (boring!). There are three that stand out. One, a state trooper talking about gangs and graffiti, another talking about trains (how long they take to stop, etc.), and a woman talking about the fact that the school bus driver is the first person that represents the school that the child sees, and the last. We don't know what happens in the house before we get there. That child may be hungry, or have had to get the smaller children ready while the parents sleep off a hangover, etc. Hence, "Normal is a setting on the washing machine." I've always remembered that, and it is on my refrigerator. :)

    Do you have/use Vevor’s cheese shredder/veg slicer? We’re still looking for something to shred up about 15 lbs of block cheese. The soft ones, like mozzarella, have been the most difficult to shred w/o getting gummy. Would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa

      I don’t have that from them. I’ll have to take a look. I use a hand one that we love. I can do 5 lbs in like 5 minutes with it and it handles mozzarella with ease amzn.to/3YUmTby I have the KitchenAid one and I honestly don’t even know where it is since I only use this one .

I had a lot of kitchen gadgets, used to us3 all of them too but when I split with m6 husband I sort of split them up between my kids and let them take what they wanted. So no idea wha5 happened to wha5 appliance. All I know is I’ve got nothing now. TFS, hope you’re having a great weekend.
