    if you count the syllables of CDP then you can remember that cdp timers are divisible by 3. for example, CDP has 3 syllables, the timers are 180 hold timer divided by 60 second update timer = 3. The same goes for LLDP, LLDP has 4 syllables in the acronym, and timers are 120 divided by 30 = 4! Easy way to remember hold & update timers for both protocols.

    Hey Jeremy, it would be a big help if you could publish (for money or not) your text in the videos. (Obviously you're reading it, so there is very little work to do this.) The way many of us study is to review multiple times the same material. After the first video series viewing, it would be best if we could then read it-- to speed read instead of slowly taking it in through the video again.
    You are the best! Thank you Jeremy for your effort!

      This is why I spend time taking notes. While OneNote is convenient, I mostly focus on hand written notes, because my eyes, hand and brain all participate in the process when I write, which helps me visualize the information exactly how I've written it myself when I close my eyes. Then you just skim through your own notes to refresh it.

    Enable the LLDP/CDP globally means, to enable the protocol on all interfaces of the device at once ???- right jeremy?
    or do we have to enable the protocol on each interface manually after applying command # cdp/lldp run

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The global commands should also enable them on the interface level, so the interface commands are usually used in the 'no' form to disable the protocols on specific interfaces.

    Why learn all the "show" commands by heart? You just need to know the logic of action. The router will tell you the rest after entering "show cdp?" It does not make sense

    • @DanielSmith-hd9iq

    • @faridgulum1226

      also when R1 sends LLDP/CDP to R2, for example, R2 receives the message and forwards the frame back to R1 only, not to other devices, right? Other interface forwarding is discarded.
