  • In this video we provide a formal definition for Network "Protocols". We then briefly describe the functionality of the 8 most common networking protocols on the Internet: DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSL, TLS, HTTPS, FTP, and SMTP. We follow that with a discussion on the four items which MUST be configured to achieve any sort of Internet connectivity.
    This is Lesson 6 of Module 1 of a Networking Fundamentals course. The first module will be released for free on TH-cam and will teach anyone the very core of networking: How data moves through the Internet.

    *Full Course Status: Wait and See.*
    Hopefully you've come to realize that I put _a lot_ of effort into the content I create. I'm not a course creator that will simply turn on the screen recording and ramble, then call that teaching. I meticulously plan _every_ module and lesson to _maximize the learning and value_ for the student.
    To that end, it takes me a while to put together courses. If I'm going to dedicate the time, resources, and energy to putting this full course together, I need to know that there is enough interest in the full course. I'm rating that by how wide a reach this series achieves.
    *If you are interested in seeing the full course developed, then the best way to bring that to fruition is to spread the word about this content* . By itself it already conveys _a lot_ of value. So sharing even just the 7 lessons (13 videos) in this series will surely help whoever you share it with.
    Plus ... many online communities would greatly benefit from these videos. Think of all the Internet points you could acquire if you shared this series (karma, likes, follows, etc.) 😉

    WOW! Thank you so much! I have watched and read many different helpful source materials for network protocols but till now I have never come across anything that verbally and visually explains how the protocols relate, as well as refresh my memory on their purpose, etc. It's like I've had a cloud in my mind and this video has removed that cloud! Everyone involved in making this video, thank you so much! I've hit that subscribe button and I'm keeping an eye on my notifications! Awesome work!

    Thank you for this content, it's very useful. Can you do a video contextually explaining how the OSI model, TCP/IP model and Hierarchical design models compliment/don't compliment each other?

    • @PracticalNetworking
      @PracticalNetworking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The OSI Model and TCP/IP Model are merely models used to describe how Networking works. I talked through the OSI model in these two videos:
      th-cam.com/video/LkolbURrtTs/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/0aGqGKrRE0g/w-d-xo.html
      The Hierarchical design from Cisco is something I would expand on in the full Networking course. I did touch on Hierarchies with Routers in this video though:
      th-cam.com/video/zmxLg4jV0ts/w-d-xo.html
      Glad you enjoyed the content otherwise =)

    I'm new to this and I'm still at gather all the information I can mode. I'm growing as is my network. Currently setting up gig speed from the Antenna to the router to a 24 port poe switch. Access point outside, to supply to the pump house for an arduino system a number of itens along with one in the barn. The barn has cat5e feeding to the house. CCTV 16 camera 720p unit running in the barn. The house will control the CCTV requiring wired, wireless, and ip cameras. Computers, laptops, print server, Network storage, and various sensors located about the property. That is an overview of where it is going. I'm teaching myself and learning from these videos. Please keep them coming.
    Thanks,
