It is the Insurance company reason the price is high. And if you don't have insurance, or it won't cover it, you have to tell them it's too expensive. Because the "chargemaster" is based on "giving" insurance companies a "deal" and not pay tax.

My wife is a cancer survivor, insurance denied PET scans, saying a plain CT scan was enough. This happened for close to a year and she kept complaining about lung issues every time she saw her doctor. Her surgeon took about 5 calls with their "Doctors" and was getting nowhere. She finally got a PET scan and they found a huge mass in her lungs. Luckily it wasn't cancer but it needed surgery. If it was caught sooner (with a PET scan as CT scans kept showing "glossy glass complexity" only) then it would have been a few pills and minor treatments. Instead it turned into a 4 month ordeal of pain and suffering.
And this is why private healthcare is less efficient than nationalized healthcare - the unwillingness for the profit-driven insurance to pay for the PET scan cost the system hundreds of dollars more in resources, personnel, work hours, time, and a worker (the wife) being less productive or not even working for over a year. At some point, there's a need to let go of ideological purity and just do what's most efficient.
Your idea is even worse, it's wildly unsustainable, and I say that as an Australian living under such a system. The demand and delays are obscene and I pay out the butt for a system that doesn't work for me at all.

My grandmother used to work for an insurance company. They denied every single claim that was filed, the first time it was filed. Simply because 10% to 20% of all people filing claims will not fight back for one reason or another. That makes that free money. I recently filed a claim for damage to a structure from vandalism. An earth dam someone cut. "We don't cover soil damage." I saw the paperwork for someone who filed a claim with the VA. The claim was for an injury to his side from getting shot while active duty. He got shot by a sniper in Afghanistan. He has a purple heart for it. He has his medical records showing his recovery. VA has found his injury to be "non service related." I really wish we could get the individuals making these BS calls, but really what we need is a new law stating that if the INS company denies any claim, gets taken to court, and found to not have had good cause to deny the claim, they need to pay all court costs. Thats the only way to fix insurance companies.

Thank you so much Louis. In the 60s in the UK a man by the name of Emil Savundra owned an insurance company called FAM insurance. He spent all the income from policies on himself, lived the high life, never paid out on a single policy ever. He was interviewed on British television by David Frost in front of an hostile audience many of whom were angry policy holders defrauded by this man. He showed no remorse when questioned, was brazen and absolutely convinced he had done no wrong. His company went bankrupt quite soon after the programme and I think Savundra skipped the country to escape prosecution. But at least something was done by the powers that be, laws were tightened, standards were raised and frequent statutory audits carried out and Savundra became largely forgotten. But action was taken. If you want to gauge how much consumer rights have eroded in the last sixty years this is as clear an example as any.

Making a difference in a child's life is the most exponential life effect you could make. If you change one kid you change everyone he interacts with for the rest of his life. I think teaching is worth it.
I know children who are adults now who were literally saved by a schoolteacher just giving them a little extra attention, recognition, and time of day. I mean that their lives were completely redirected and they became pinnacles of industry from nothing. The people I'm talking about trace that back to just a teacher in their grd2, or grd6. Caring. Teachers make ripples that turn into waves that change the fabric of the world. The greatest tragety is they usually don't get to see how important they are. Bad teachers do the same thing. Anywho, just like you I could not live with myself lying to ppl just for the sake of scamming them out of their money and making a buck. So I fully understand where you're coming from, insurance companies for the most part are scammers just into profiting over the backs of their clients. These are the 5 phases or the program flow diagram of communication: 1. Beginning: 2. Analysis: 3. Argumentation: 4: Offer: 5: Conclusion/ ending: (rinse and repeat steps 2 and 3 to get to step 4 and then get to either steps 2, 3 again, (f.e get 2 ""no''s or rejections"" on step 4 ) go to 5 and stop, or start a new topic (step 1 etc.) ) This is nothing new and you already use this even if you are not or hardly aware of it. In a normal/good conversation, this is an innocent event. However, this is used industrially (read Abused) to make the sale of something easier. You can recognize Socrates's method, which was described in far greater detail by Plato in this very short version of mine. Good listening is essential to be able to substantiate your positions and/or to be able to refute those of the other. You can easily prepare all your arguments (scripts) if you want to sell (offer) something and it is very important to remain logical so that the Analysis of the other is approved. The more often the other person agrees (analyses) with what you say, the greater the chance that they will continue to agree with you (so that selling something/ services becomes easier) and that you will consider them increasingly reliable. Take your hand and see what the third finger is so that you can see when it is being abused, indeed they abuse that middle finger industrially against you by having analyzed all the argumentation long ago. The more often you agree with the argumentation, the more difficult it becomes to remain critical and therefore it is easier not to be able to resist a (sales) offer. This is of course a very simple and short explanation, but with the right argumentation, you can always make someone agree with your statement. Because "Is water wet?" you can't disagree with that, right?! (I do it twice in a row) Well, if you didn't realize that you already knew/applied this, then I still haven't really told you anything new, have I ?! ;) Ubuntu 😁

"We don't cover soil damage."
I saw the paperwork for someone who filed a claim with the VA. The claim was for an injury to his side from getting shot while active duty. He got shot by a sniper in Afghanistan. He has a purple heart for it. He has his medical records showing his recovery. VA has found his injury to be "non service related."
I really wish we could get the individuals making these BS calls, but really what we need is a new law stating that if the INS company denies any claim, gets taken to court, and found to not have had good cause to deny the claim, they need to pay all court costs.
Emil is from Sri Lanka - they have had a lot of problems with swindlers in the last few years, too.

Watch out.

And like you I could not do it anymore when I got to read the small print after 2 weeks of training/ brainwashing sessions lying about their products. I had by law pretended to work for them for a month, and had NDA for not disclosing their business model for 10 years after resigning/ being fired. Anywho, just like you I could not live with myself lying to ppl just for the sake of scamming them out of their money and making a buck. So I fully understand where you're coming from, insurance companies for the most part are scammers just into profiting over the backs of their clients. That is why I like your attitude so much, though IMHO you are quite a bit on the too much criticizing yourself. I think you're a good guy, keep it up mate.
These are the 5 phases or the program flow diagram of communication:
1. Beginning:
2. Analysis:
3. Argumentation:
4: Offer:
5: Conclusion/ ending:
(rinse and repeat steps 2 and 3 to get to step 4 and then get to either steps 2, 3 again, (f.e get 2 ""no''s or rejections"" on step 4 ) go to 5 and stop, or start a new topic (step 1 etc.) )
This is nothing new and you already use this even if you are not or hardly aware of it.
(I do it twice in a row)
Well, if you didn't realize that you already knew/applied this, then I still haven't really told you anything new, have I ?! ;)

Dear Louis, I want to thank you for everything you've done during all this years, you are one of the most dedicated and goodwilling person I've ever known. So this is a huge thank you, not just by me, not just by your subscribers, but from everyone who has a good common sense.
If I ever crash out, it’s growing a mustache and speaking German.
I'll be remembered for feeding my friends, making music and djing in small venues around the city, pushing others and helping their musical goals.
This is a good legacy 👍
@OmarFW 🫡thank you
Merry merry.
Your a role model in my life Louis.
Todays a pretty lonely day for me(25th) and I enjoy your videos.
I come for the right to repair advocacy and stay for the life advice
Luigi is 100% a HERO !!! Luigi deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.... My United health insurance doesn't cover me shedding tears for the United Healthcare CEO
You are the best! I agree with you. I learned something today and I hope your listeners do to. Thank you.
Much respect and appreciation for you Louis! Your heart is in the right place! Stay strong
Louis you've done more than most for making the US a better Nation and the world a better place.
Please continue your work if you can.
The issue is not the company it is the laws that allow them to act that way without recourse or appeal. People will use violence when all other recourse has failed; the delay, depose and refuse is from a memo on how to stall claims. You need to remove healthcare decisions from shareholders and companies that act only for profit, it does not work.
I got rug-pulled, a service I was using that was originally free for everyone turned into a $10/mo subscription to get the same service. So I made a free version. Not trying to advertise, just saying to everyone out there: do it yourself. You can do it. If it doesn't work how you want it to work, fix it. Can't wait to read that article you've written, Louis.
On an additional note: I would love to see this future wiki of company screw-ups. It'd be like that car website where you can look up how many people have reported issues with their certain car.
Hi bro, am watching you from Algeria
Hope this kind of mentality spread all over the world.
Funny, I haven't watched this yet, but my last two comments pretty much warmed me up for this topic. We seem to be cut from a similar loin. Carry on the good fight sir!
irrelevant to the video topic but i love the iconic *brazenly blue* microphone. never change, Louis
Great video 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm an electronical engineer, and I u used to work at this company who wanted to sell lights as a Service. Image buying a lamp or lightbulb full price and then having to pay a company so you can have light even though you have electricity. I quit when they forced me to build that system. And yes thank goodness they went bankrupt during Covid.
Not a bright idea.
Typical example of a shameless, scummy and greedy company, which intentionally creates a "serious" problem in their new and/or existing product(s), to be able to continue milking money from their customers, after they successfully "fix" that extremely complex issue.
We love you Louis, every small triumph is a huge step in the right direction I tell everyone I meet about your and your heroics, and more and more often people already know who you are :)! May the future only be koi fish, cats, tutorials, and slice of life content.
more people should do this type of videos to bring awareness to the general public. Great job
I'm Proud of you and I wish there are more people like you in this world AND PLEASE DO MAKE THAT INDEX and there is no point talking to people online who do not have 2 brain cells to understand anything. I HOPE YOU ARE DOING OKAY mentally!!
My parents house burned down several years ago. They had Hartford with pretty big policy thought they were well covered, and I guess they were sort of but after they had the adjuster come, they were only gonna give them pennies on the dollar for everything that was in the house. the only way to get full value for it was to purchase a replacement item and then submit the receipts. Luckily they had enough money to do that but how many people can come up with tens of thousands if not $100,000 to buy the destroyed items to get reimbursed for. Most people just end up taking the paltry settlement because they have no savings or ability to buy new shit to get reimbursed six months later by the insurance company.
Thank you Louis, you ignite the revolutionary spirit
Hi, Papá Louis. Thanks for everything you are and do. Love you mucho, king. 🖤 I hope you and the fam have the greatest holidaze seaaon ever. :)
It goes without saying man, I am incredibly thankful for your contributions in the right to repair. Fixing things is fun and economical. You made a huge difference in many millions of people's lives and you will be remembered. Thank you for being a good person and fighting for us.
Louis is giving off Harvy dent in the hospital in the dark knight right now vibes.
Youre a great man Louis! 👍🏻👍🏻
I switch to my monitor that's too big to see small letters just to watch your videos. I remember when you had less than 20k viewers. You keep doing what you do. You have no idea how many people you inspire. When I wanted to quit working on electronics your advice made me keep trying and now I'm selling all my tools so someone else can play and learn like I did. So again, keep doing what you are doing.
Scaling.
Many of us identify with you Louis, and your attention is not only a reflection of your own skills and cares and time and effort, but also of the change we hope to see ourselves. You're one of the good ones, and they're rare, and I'm deeply grateful for all of the above-listed boons of yours the rest of us benefit from. Thanks for this
You are a good man, sir. Truly one of the few honorable ones left in this sea of narcissists.
There is a reason why I have been predicting a collapse. I fear it will only get worse before it can get better. Thank you for your story, the world is more predictable when hearing from people like you.
Thank you Louis for being you, never change. You are an inspiration.
Hi Louis. Love the channel.
Thank you for the guide Louise, this is going to make such a difference to a lot of people's lives, it's a good thing. Don't let what else is going on in the world tarnish that for you.
Your work inspires me to be a better person Louis, thank you.
Seeing the amount of positivity surrounding the thing that happened, your video here took all that, applied breaks and asked a question: "what the f are we doing here?". And I wish both parties of the incident this moment of self-reflection
One side of the situation has had decades to suffer. The other side has made billions from it. There's a reason people are cheering this on: all of the other avenues to make things better are closed.
@@idrathernot_2 and so the cycle of exploitation, violence will continue, for as the cycle turns, each side will have their justified reasons for revenge, and to keep it going. Only by having the courage to do whats right, even when others dont, will things get better. That is what louis is trying to get at here.
@@bp6942We have reached a point where pacific change has become impossible, so buckle up boi, we are in for a world where this kind of thing happens until change is made
@@bp6942 I don't think it's a cycle as it's completely unbalanced toward one side. It reminded me of an answer Lee Kuan Yew gave regarding Singapore's death penalty for drug traffickers "One death is too kind".
hey Louis you would not be loved by so many people if you were not you and if you were not living by your good heart values.. x
i hope you have a Really nice Christmas time when it comes
if you are ever in Scotland i would be glad to show you around
Best wishes to you for a happy future.. from Rolland in Scotland
You're an inspiration to me in so many ways. I don't know if it's my own autism plugging into yours, but I feel like dancing on the table agreeing with literally everything you're saying. Yes, murder is bad. But also, companies should not be judged by what they're legally allowed to get away with... rather than fulfilling the purpose that the consumer thinks they're buying into when they join a service or purchase a product. Capitalism has brought us so far into the "What are you going to do about it" era that companies aren't even hiding how horribly immoral and shit they are... and you're one of the loudest voices yellind that "This is not how it should be!".
I want to live in your world. Or rather, the world where you don't have to make videos like this.
thank you for being so outspoken!
daam this guy he is something from day 1 i admire him. always standing up for whats right, fixing his own things because shit company cant
Sir, you are such an important voice and role model. I, for one, am grateful. You are deeply appreciated.
