Why China is Against THAAD?

- THAAD is a crucial component of the US effort to deploy a multi-layered, integrated ballistic
missile defense system.
The "high altitude" in the name refers to the capability of the system to intercept incoming missiles at endo- and exo-atmospheric altitudes, with a maximum engagement altitude of around 93 miles (150km) above the surface of the earth.
Nearly all sources agree that The THAAD missile system is developed to defend against hostile incoming threats like short range, medium range and intermediate-range ballistic missiles but not ICBMs.
THAAD’s high-altitude intercept capability reduces the impact of enemy weapons before they hit the ground, and its non-explosive kinetic effect (hit-to-kill) minimizes the possibility of detonation.
The missile can reach a peak speed of about eight times the speed of sound, placing it in the “hypersonic” category.
A Patriot launcher carrying PAC-3 MSE missiles can now be integrated into a THAAD battery.
On January 17 2022 it made its first successful intercept against an incoming Houthi missile over Abu Dhabi.
This is the missile defence shield that scares China.
And the North Koreans hate it!

So china doesn’t want to be spied on ? Ironic.
😂
Did you even watch the video ? The THADD system is not for spying. Maybe all them kiddy video games you watch have blocked your common sense. 🤔
Same with US that why they bitching about the Chinese balloon.
I really wonder 🤔
What do you expect with the US?
US also Didnt wanted to get spied. and yet, THEY created to U2 and the SR71 during the cold war
And today THEY uses a Military satelite to spy on other adversaries. Ironi, isn't it?
They need a Coastal High Altitude Area Defense... Or CHAAD

Freedom , democracy are just poison to master the weak only . America is the biggest dictator but knows how master its population .
The Ethiopian military?
The concept of kinetic kill (hit-to-kill) is mind boggling. If THAAD is traveling at Mach 8 (9360 feet/sec), while the target missile travels at 17,000 miles/hour (24,933 feet/sec), the head-on approach speed is 6.5 miles/sec. What are the odds of one basket ball being thrown so as to hit another one when they're approaching one another at 6.5 miles/second ?
They don't come in contact until after a detonation, and basketballs can't alter trajectory in flight, Pumpkin.

Why? It can already intercept Hypersonic missiles like Patriot has done in Ukraine. Hypersonic missiles only go Mach 5 and this missile is Mach 7. Also Hypersonic missiles only maneuver in the beginning on their flight. Other missiles maneuver too. Patriot, Thaads and other systems can intercept maneuvering threats.

Nope

@@Jncta It doesn' t exist
Patriot handled kinzhal easily and will almost certainly do the same with china's, mostly because those "hypersonic missiles" aren't hypersonic missiles. They are garden variety ballistic missiles. The ones with HGV they can but will likely need to fire more than one missile at it. Should be interesting to see how the MUTANT missile the U.S. is working on plays into this

@@mauriciofonseca2079 Uh...yes they do.
There isn't enough THAAD launchers in that region to stop North Korea, let alone China. Saturation attacks can easily overwhelm those systems.
During war time they can be many
That's the issue. The whole point of them is to defend key locations.
Lasers are finally going to be deployed which hopefully stop low cost saturation attacks and make missile defense much easier for fraction of the cost. Leave the missiles to other high end weapons.
Still wondering why we can't design great flak cannons. Surely a modern automated uhh let's say 90mm can take out a missile? The speed of the incoming missle and outgoing shell + explosive tungsten fragments should disintegrate whatever it touches. All in a relatively low cost solution, because AA defense is stupid expensive.
Ever Heard of "RETALIATORY STRIKES."
or "COUNTER STRIKES."
It's not the interceptor/launcher that China is worried of, but the radar. This radar can not only see North Korean airspace but all the way up to China even Beijing. It is even more powerful than China's own LPAR which is massive radar installed on a building. And with powerful radars 5th gen stealth can be detected and also tracked at long range especially by THAAD's X-band TPY-2 radar. With the IBCS network, different interceptors/launchers can use THAAD's radar like South Korea's KM-SAM and upper tier L-SAM. It's small and compact too so it's easy enough to transport. Israel also uses TPY-2 radar for their Arrow series of BMD interceptors.
@@johnsilver9338 Aye the radars are what separate a good system against a poor one. You can have the best missiles and air defense don't mean a thing if you can't get a weapon grade lock.
I am not too caught up though in the newest and latest radars though as it is all gibberish to me. I just keep hearing about all these new radars coming into play recently, and it seems like the US is putting a lot of focus on upgrading them across all sorts of platforms. From the Viper to the F 35, to the Aegis and AWAC.
Crazy how expensive they are.
Japan must buy some THAADs
Japan has two missile defense systems - a homegrown one, and the Aegis-Offshore system. I think they're both shorter range systems.
No worry , America will force Japan to buy it just like the F35 .

I have one doubt this system intercept hypersonic cruise missile or hyper sonic glide projectiles?
I don't think any are capable today so far. At least that we know of.
For whatever reason some people say you can only intercept a hypersonic with an other hypersonic. I call bullshit personally.
It's just hard though to make a system be able to hit one though due to the velocities and timing involved.
Maybe in the future we will have systems that can. Lasers are starting to roll out now but have a while to go yet look promising..
Flak is also making a come back - as in a shell with a fuse that shoots a wall of tungsten. Right now America's CIWIS uses kinetic kill which is like shooting a bullet with a bullet. Flak is good because it's cheap and same for lasers. Germans skynext program seems like it has potential. Seen it shoot down 8 drones in a single burst and can be fired at ground targets. I think its made for artillery and missiles as well.
Then missiles of course but missiles are expensive as hell. Whatever your defending better be worth it.
If anyone knows why you need a hypersonic missile to defeat an other please tell me why. If the target is coming at you ya just need to hit it - hypersonic missiles move so fast that even a small tungsten ball would wreck it.
@Diana Pennepacker thank you Diana, very well thought out babe.
THAAD was designed to intercept ICBMs which has a speed of Mach 21+
THAAD can definitely intercept new conventional hypersonic weapons, but not without difficulty, as new conventional hypersonic weapons can glide and change courses through small changes.
If Patriot PAC 3 can intercept Russia's Hypersonic Kinzhal missile, I have no doubt THAAD could also without a problem..

Can thaad defense system intercept hypersonic missiles?
All ballistic missiles are technically hypersonic by definition.
@@WorshipinIdolsthat's just not true ballistic just means it follows a ballistic trajectory that doesn't guarantee any specific speed even if it's falling from high altitude. Yes most do/will reach hypersonic speeds but it's not inherently true of all ballistic missiles for example atacms (tactical ballistic middle) which reaches only mach 3-4.
@@MrDJAK777 there is a direct causal relationship between a ballistic missiles range, and its velocity. It is true that the shortest range missiles such as ATACMs will have the lowest speed. I don’t know if your exact claim is true but what ever. That is a very short-range tactical missile. Otherwise known as a quasi-ballistic missile. Anything else that reaches at least 500km+ will have to break Mach 5 to get there.
Fatal error: you said Thad Was used against short, medium and intermediate range missiles but NOT ICBM…

You mean after they manage to steal the technology? if so, yes, that is the problem the CCP has many spies all over the west stealing anything they can. Eiii 😂😂😂😂 you guys can lie oooh how can thaad be the best air defense system 😂😂😂😂😂
What do you mean “could”? It does! That’s what it was made for.
The US doesn't have the ability to keep track or a lock at the moment on manuverable hypersonic weapons until the terminal phase at the moment. That is why the US started a new satellite program (Satellite profileration program) which already started building/launching hundreds of satellites with the capability to track/lock those targets after detecting the launch. The US is putting a lot of money into upgrading and adding new systems capable of tracking all kinds of targets from enemy countries. Another reason they are sending so many satellites is to make sure China/Iran/Russia can't just take out one, two, three, etc satellites and cripple the US. There will be so many all networked that China will not be to damage US capabilities.
Patriot already shot down the "Invincible " Khinzal Hypersonic missile 😂😂 multiple times!

Far inferior to S-300 , S-400 and S500 that is why Turkey , a member of NATO bought S-400 .
That's not why. Turkey bought from Russia because it's cheaper. You get what you pay for.
Ankara has said it had no choice but to buy the Russian missiles, because NATO countries did not offer a cost-effective alternative to satisfy an urgent need. In addition, NATO air defense manufacturers could not deliver their systems for several years due to the backlog of other contracts.
Turkey is currently developing their own domestic AMD systems, but that is also years away.
