  • Are you looking to dip your toe into the sim racing world but dont want to pay top dollar for an over priced toy? You can actually build a hyper realistcc wheel base for the same amount of money people spend on 2nd tier equipment. In this video I show you how to build a direct drive steering wheel (OSW) using Simucube controller. This system is not for the faint hearted and you will need a rig strong enough to handle it. This system is not part of the logitech, thrustmaster or fanatec ecosystem but a custom build with the freedom to customize in any way you see fit.

    Certified here.
    No tinning of wires being held mechanically.
    For terminal installs, like this, you would use crimp wire ferrules.
    Really clean look too.

      Nah. I would agree with what he said. Logitech literally makes a wheel that claims to be "Driving Force by Logitech G takes the latest racing games to the highest level." Which I find completely bs
      For 400 bucks this thing has many problems such as, faulty centering, faulty motors, bad FFB, Software crashing, and much more that I don't feel like explaining.
      In all honesty, get the G920/G29 if you have no other option. I would personally recommend literally any thrustmaster wheel with the logitech shifter, you will need an adapter but the shifter is like the only good thing logitech has rn...

    • @MODIFYUP

    That computer fan is 12v, you don't need any step down converter for a computer fan as they are all 12v, unless you use some obsure ram-cooling fan or laptop fan that runs on usb-power.
    ALL regular case fans are 12v.

  • @dkiiv
    @dkiiv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    hey, i know this is a older video but PLEASE do NOT use solder as the "connector" for the screw in terminal blocks
    over time, the solder will deform out of the way and thus increase resistance, then heat will follow, then boom you have a fire.
    this is well known in the 3d printer/CNC community.
    please instead use a crimped connector or BARE wire!

    Should I buy and install the BISS-C encoder separately or does it come with the Motor already installed?
    and can I choose another motor or should I just use the "Mige motor 130ST-M10010" ?
    thx

    • @MODIFYUP
      @MODIFYUP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can specify which encoder you want with the motor when you purchase it so it will come already installed. Just be sure to pull the cover off and confirm you were supplied the correct one. The small mige is a fantastic motor which will be enough for 90% of people. if you want something ridiculous go for the large mige.

    Any "recent" (made in the last 15 years) computer fan is 12V, not 5, also, no need to test around, pin 1 is ground, 2 is 12V, 3 is the tach signal and the fans with 4 pins, the 4th is the PWM signal to control RPM.
