    i feel like it's 100% justified to not want someone who stole a large amount of valuables from you to be in your home, even if it was a long time ago. Refusing to apologize to me is disrespectful and I wouldn't want someone who doesn't respect me to be in my home. I don't see that as a grudge.

    It’s parents like in the first story that drive me crazy. I understand infertility and miscarriages are hard, but you have to parent your child! I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy and then my son was born at 24+4 weeks. He is my little miracle, but I do parent him. He’s 2.5 years old now and he’s not out there getting away with “murder” just because I view him a miracle.

Who cares how much someone weighs in comparison to who they are as a human being? She gained weight, she didn't become a whole new person. He needs a reality check. 1:17:04 I have a theory that this guy agreed to let her be a stay at home mom to dogs just to trap her. I bet he thought “Oh great, I’ll agree for her to quit her job and stay home. I’ll let her be dependent on me. Once she’s nice and comfortable, I’ll spring this idea on her that we’re going to have a baby.”
    My first thought was, that’s insane, there’s no way anybody would agree to let their partner stay home and take care of the dogs, but in retrospect, I understand the manipulative tactic.

His mother even told him to apologize and talk about stealing from me in therapy + he wouldn't stay in my or "my mother's" house (my and my sibilings property, my mother just lives there) until I allow it. as someone with adhd and autism the taylor swift story gave me a lot of conflicting feelings because the way she lets taylor consume her life feels a lot like how i can be when im hyperfixated or have a new special interest--i get what it feels like to be that obsessed with something, my brain literally cant help it, and it really sucks when somebody is negative about it (rolling eyes, calling it a cult, etc), but i also get the husband not wanting her to spend that kind of money on taylor if it is their shared funds and he is by no means required to like taylor just because she does. i think the only fix to that would be for them to have separate savings for fun activities/hobbies and for her to bring it up less, but she should also be able to mention things she likes from time to time without him being visibly annoyed by it. speaking from experience, i do think it can be a bit sad to not be able to share the joy of your interests with someone, but at the end of the day you and your partner wont always align on stuff like that and it shouldnt be a deal breaker.

    • @damezie
      @damezie 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@infjandcoping4614 well thats why i said he by no means has to like it and she should probably mention it less. she's probably been "inflicting" her obsession of taylor on him purely out of love--when most people love something, they want to share it with people they love, but if he wants no part in it then that's fine. they both have some fixing to do imo. she should probably join some fandom communities dedicated to taylor so she has a more private outlet filled with other people who love her just as much and her husband should stop rolling eyes and being verbally negative about something she really cares about. i do think her obsession does sound like something that could be grating, especially considering i myself do not like taylor swift in the slightest, but as somebody who has dealt with fixations like this, where im constantly playing the music, rewatching the same clips and videos, etc., it can be incredibly hurtful when people make fun of the things you like or make you feel like you're stupid for liking it (calling it a cult/saying youre brainwashed) instead of just being straight forward and saying "i dont like this thing and id rather not talk about it as much, is there anyone else you know who likes this thing/could you find a community to talk about this with besides me?" i understand the husbands frustrations but i also understand why the wife feels upset that he is being so negative about something she clearly loves so much. if they cant find a middle ground then it might just be best to end things honestly.

    • @ameliastevie7331
      @ameliastevie7331 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      It's fair to be into something and I absolutely understand hyperfixation (trust me, I've been in the TRENCHES) but the people in your life are allowed to be a little upset when it is the only thing you talk about and the only way we're interacting with them. If she was truly only mentioning her interest every once in a while he wouldn't have been upset enough to write a reddit post. I think it is genuinely the only thing she talks about with him and I'd also be incredibly irritated if I found myself in this situation too. Something I've specifically noticed about Taylor Swift fans is that a lot of them cannot stand the concept of someone not being a fan of her and will therefore argue with you until they're blue in the face (not every fan, but a lot of them). It's exhausting and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what she's doing. She literally called it a LIFESTYLE, it probably consumes every waking hour and every interaction she has. He doesn't have to tolerate that level of obsession, especially because it's clearly impacting their relationship.

      Her trying to forcefully share her interests is definitely because she loves him and cares what he thinks. Clearly her fixation is something else and she should probably be in therapy just to make sure it's a healthy one but it's not something bad. Hopefully he can come to realize and appreciate her feelings even if he's not into the music. However she has to be willing to share his interests too. If that is happening then it shouldn't be so hard to bare.

The parents see Rufus (from Kim Possible) while the rest of us see beady eyes wrinkled Saran Wrap with a terrifying banshee scream. In the most healthy manner, she probably should’ve at least doubled that time to lose that same amount of weight (1lb/week). She was putting in the work, the hours, and probably the mental/physical torment for this. Because of this pressure.
    Also - I’m the same weight, 165lbs and am 5’7”. I wear a size small, maybe medium in uncommon cases, in everything - shirts, pants, dresses, etc. I have no idea the drugs this man is on.

    As a former teacher, I got to say the petty revenge that the gym teacher did is 10 times nicer than what that teacher was doing. Taking a necessary item to be used in an observation is such a big and absolutely unacceptable. Also, she broke a lot of his stuff and he immediately boxed it and also gave her access to it prior to students coming.
    Also, losing a chair during teaching is really not nearly as big a deal as a lot of other supplies (when you're teaching you're not always sitting down and most of the tasks you need to do don't actually require you to sit and usually teacher chairs are actually school property and not teacher's personal property whereas, unfortunately, often those very needed supplies that gym teachers are paid for by the teacher themselves, sometimes).

      The sound quality is usually something incredible compared to any kind of speakers we can buy (headphone or otherwise) so that's usually something really nice to experience. And its just something different.
      Its an activity where you go out with people you like generally, you have a nice meal out beforehand and talk about how excited you are and what parts of the music/band/etc. you like. And then you're there, watching live entertainment, and often feeling like you're being literally bathed in sound you can feel vibrating through your bones (depending on how loud it is and what the music type is).
      Its an experience and something memorable.
      Not for everyone (I know some people who would say that sounds like an utter nightmare), but it can be something really nice.
      The videos are fun to listen to if you can't go. More specifically sometimes I'll put up the official recordings of the concerts in the background for music sometimes.

    Ooof first story, I’m gonna say AH but only because of how OP said it, not what she was saying. If she had taken her sister aside and asked her to handle her son better for the party and then ~later~ have a private conversation with sister about how she’s allowing her son to get away with a lot of negative behavior because of her difficulties conceiving, I feel like it probably would have been heard a lot more clearly by the sister. Chances are the sister is even frustrated by her son’s behavior and often just doesn’t know how to deal with it, and maybe even hopes most people don’t notice it as much as they do. If it had been a calm private conversation, approached from a place of understanding rather than anger (although I do understand the anger in that moment!) it definitely would have come across better. That many miscarriages is so hard.. but she does need to hear a loving conversation about how her parenting now can affect his future in school, work, relationships, etc..

    As a Swifty, I can see where the husband’s coming from. I also spent quite a bit of money on my ticket, listen to the albums, took videos that I watch occasionally, I watch the live streams when I can (for surprise songs), and I watched the movie. However, I’m not doing that 24 seven. If she truly is just nonstop, then I totally get where he’s coming from. You can only listen to something so many times before it gets repetitive and annoying. It’s insane to watch your videos and then the live stream. Like girl come on. I’m curious of how much she is projecting the videos onto the TV, that’s crazy to me. Listening to only her music is crazy too, there are so many artist/bands out there she would love that have the same vibe as Taylor’s (especially with the different genera’s she has crossed). I use the Spotify feature to discover similar songs to expand my catalog. I can totally see how the husbands hurts by her saying their wedding day isn’t the best day of her life. The ticket cost would be crazy as well, but if she is like me and never been to one concert getting like 4 in one night is justified. Plus going off the crews comments of production/outfit changes/etc., it’s just like Bey’s, Taylor’s is amazing. But if she’s just putting out a bids and he rolls his eyes because he’s not interested, then I can see why she’s annoyed. Like if it’s just a couple comments here and there, or when something happens, he’s being a dick by saying “wElL iTs AlL tHe TiMe”. These are the stories always want someone else’s opinion, just to cooperate the partners story.

    The best representation of Americans anxiety is stories of people traveling outside the US and getting startled by loud sounds (cars backfiring or pyrotechnics at concerts/festivals), realizing they’re safe and then the looks of pity from the friends they’re visiting.

    Infertility challenges didn’t win and the child is here now, so no one is obligated to allow your child’s bad behavior. The best way to show you understand the magnitude of the miracle child you were finally able to have is to be a good steward of his upbringing and raise him well…

    I personally don’t understand the Taylor Swift phenomenon but I’m happy for all the people that like her music. I think for this particular story, it would be nice for Op to maybe not make disparaging comments about her interest, but their partner needs to understand that they are not obligated to be into or even like the same artist, like there should be some boundaries and understandings. Like I don’t think I should be expected to care that much about this celebrity, and I’m sure it’s the same for some of his interests. I say they just let each other enjoy their own things in peace.

    The Taylor one: I actually disagree a little. It sounds like the wife could afford it, so it’s not like gambling them out of house and home or something. Take Taylor out of it, and I think the emotional support was just…stop being mean. Respect your partner enough to be neutral instead of dropping little mean comments. It’s really easy to just be excited for your partner about something even if you have no interest in it. I know all the lore behind games like Elden Ring, Skyrim, Baldurs Gate, etc bc my boyfriend likes them and likes to tell me about them. I would never be mean or rude to him when his eyes light up to tell me some new ability he unlocked. He has spent thousands on gaming and literally games for hours every day. I’d never be mean to him about something that simply brings him JOY. like that’s so weird to me! Why don’t you want your partner to be happy? I think OP is an a hole for being rude about something that is clearly important to her. I think in couples like this, whoever is annoyed needs to take a step back and analyze why they’re annoyed, but also ASK your partner WHY they love something so much. Be their safe space to be themselves fully. Bc her saying he isn’t supportive has nothing to do with money or him like cheering her on or him listening to Taylor too. She doesn’t feel safe to enjoy her interests around him and is asking him to just be kind to him.

    Telling your sister her child isn’t special- The child themselves isn’t even aware of the mother’s miscarriages, the experience and trauma is the mothers only and it shouldn’t impact the way she’s raising the child she has. What was the point of suffering the multiple miscarriages if you was just aiming to raise an ahole?

    I was just hospitalized for depression and suicidality. When I checked into the hospital, I weighed 74.2kg. I'm 5'5". For my entire hospital stay and follow-up care, people consistently commented on how thin and petite I was and made choices about how much medication to give me on that basis. Furthermore, I suffered from horrible nausea as a side effect of one of my medications, and a few days before I was discharged I weighed in at 70kg even. They were VERY concerned about my weight loss and it is one of the reasons they kept me as long as they did. Obviously some of that is because of the speed at which I was losing weight (most healthcare professionals recommend losing 1-2 pounds a week max, while I lost about 10 in a total of 8 days), but some of it was also because I was at a completely healthy weight before and they wanted to keep me at that weight. I say all of this to say that this man's demands about her weight loss when she is the same size as me is INSANE, and the timescale is even more insane. That is a monumental amount of weight to lose in such a short window. I am so glad she got out of that relationship.

    On the TS "emotional support"... You have to remember there are two sides to every story he may be saying that she expects emotional support from him and he may see that as he needs to like the songs... Her reality may be just asking him not to insult or mock her interests... And while her concert ticket may have been really expensive as a single expenditure.... That doesn't mean that he doesn't have hobbies that slowly add up to that kind of money in multiple transactions... He may also see that money being spent on an experienced versus tangible items as completely different... $2000 on a concert might have been ridiculous to him, but $2,000 in golf clubs may seem perfectly reasonable... It's just perspective

    My dad used to raise pigeons when he was a teen. Had some expensive show bird type breeds and roller breeds. Someone broke into his coop and stole them one night. Dad eventually found them, and he knew they were his birds because he spent hours with them every day for years, so he knew their patterning. But, by then, the dude had cut all the bands off of them, so he had no way to prove they were his and the cops wouldnt do anything. He couldnt just steal them back because at that point the cops knew that he thinks they're his, so if the guy made a report, they were gonna go right to him and he would get in trouble. It broke his heart and he's never owned another pigeon since then

    Ugh that first story irked me lol. When I was 16 I was told there was something wrong with my uterus and even if I were to get pregnant my body would most likely not be able to carry to term, resulting in miscarriage or still born. I had only one miscarriage before my first son was born 15 years ago, but struggled the entire pregnancy and almost lost him during the delivery. 10 years later I got pregnant with my second son, I had 17 miscarriages between my first born and my second (who’s now 4) but I always thought my first born was going to be my only child because clearly my body was not holding onto any pregnancy after him. I was shocked when I was able to hit the second trimester with my second since outside of my first born, all my pregnancies ended before 10 weeks. They are both literal miracle babies but I would never NEVER allow my children to act like that! Our jobs as parents is to prepare them for the real world when we’re no longer here and her kid is going to have a hard ass life growing up believing he’s “special” enough to be an entitled spoiled brat.
