  • Coke Studio Season 9| Episode 6
Song Name: Lagi Bina/Chal Mele Noon Challiye
    Music Directed by Jaffer Zaidi
    Produced by Strings
Rather than an attack on your senses, ‘Lagi Bina’ creates a sprawling sense of euphoria that lifts the track to new sonic heights. Combing the vocal prowess of fabled Saieen Zahoor with Sanam Marvi’s raw, melodic voice in an ethereal kalaam by Waris Shah - ‘Lagi Bina’ grows on you from the onset driven by a melody that grips one and never loosens throughout the duration of the track. A fusion of Sindhi and Punjabi folk style, music director Jaffer Zaidi has created a sound where the contrasting vocals merge with striking instrumentation of the house-band while maintaining the emotion of the lyrics at the forefront. #CokeStudio9

The difference all comes down to family traditions and their style of singing. Since Rahat and Amjad came from a loooong line of musicians they stick to their roots while Sanam have more room to experiment with modern style. Speaking of families, here is another one: "Kangna | Fareed Ayaz & Abu Muhammad"; I am sure you'll love it!

Saeen Zahoor is the male singer, also recognized by BBC as voice of the year or singer of the year something like that few years ago, can be googles. Female singer is "Sa-num Mar-Vi"
Regarding comparison, nope they can't be compared with Rahat and likes. Because these two singers belong to a different class and that is "folk singers", though trained in classical music similar to Rahat n Co. But they are masters of "Folk" contrary to masters of "classical".

@UNCLE MOMO, You are correct in a way that the music is traditional, songs are old and beyond the times when our parents were born! It’s a fusion as you rightly put forward, but other than the guitars 🎸 and the drums 🥁 I thought that I saw all traditional instruments. The introduction of the song was actually a third song 🎵 which is a Rajasthani folk song and it’s really old! Now coming to the daily dose of pronunciation 😜, the songs here are “La+Gi(as in ‘Give’) Bi(as in Bee)+Na” / “Chal Me(as in ‘meant’)+Le(same as the last pronunciation replacing M with L) Noon(pronunciation is ‘Noo’ as in Afternoon without an N in the end) Cha(as in ‘chart’)+Lli(as in ‘Lee’)+ye(as in the letter A) and the male singer is Sa+ieen(it’s like ‘sign’ but need to stretch on ‘A’ sound in it) Za+Hoor(as in ‘Hood’ replaced with R). The female singer is Sa+na+m(pretty easy I hope) and the other one is Mary(don’t tell me to break it!😬😜).
To answer a very important question that you’ve asked about singers sitting while singing, it’s all about concentration. If you are aware of Yoga 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️🧘 , see the posture itself that you get in the Emoji. It’s the same posture and is called “Padmasana” (Pad+Ma+A+Sa+Na). Here all the seven 7 states of our being in human form can be balanced (Search Seven ‘Chakras’ in the human body in Google). In this posture you get the most concentration, connection of heart and mind and power of voice as well. Also you will notice that when we sit more of our body is connected to the ground from where we source our energy which you get less while standing. Songs in our part of the world is more to connect with the inner self, awaken our consciousness and and realise our spiritual self, It’s less about showmanship. Hope I was able to share some knowledge with you. Please do let me know.
