That weren't a bang-shift my friend. That was a good ol' case of axle wrap on a first gear launch with 55 year old suspension components. Done it myself with many 4spd trucks. Made me wanna put on a Dunce Cap.

At least it's an easy fix, Steve. Back in the 1979 I was driving my 67 Cougar through town and tore my steering box out the frame rail, drag link assembly off when the Pitman arm contacted a tall manhole cover. And also dislocated my thumb on the steering wheel.

    I hate when that happens.
Last time was about 3 years ago. After just passing two cars on Interstate 90 next to Billings dropped the shaft on the Dakota.
Snapped the pinion gear at 70. Managed to get it shut down and off the highway before other cars became involved from the violently spinning driveshaft. Long story short, front wheel drive Dakota made it into town (1.5 miles) before both axles where 6 inches from the desired location. I feel your pain.

I’m not a drag racer so I always let the clutch take up the slack in the drivetrain and then get off of the clutch pedal. Don’t know if that creates less shock but it seems like it would.

HI STEVE, a while back we saw you show the SUNBEAM ALPINE. What a cool project, (for a change) slip a Ford (I know not a Mopar or a Chevy) into it like the Tiger. By the way I built a 1725 cc and put it in my 65 Alpine , then I found a 65 Tiger that I drive the wheels off today which is just too much fun. Sorry, I digressed ... back to the request ... How about doing a turbo 4 banger or do a turbo V6 out of a late model crashed ford mustang or truck. I would love to see the Hot-Rod flavor of American muscle stuffed in a small British roadster. Also, it would be something the average guy could do which is why I like your channel. What gets better (I know your thinking Mopar power but lets mix it up and do a Drof.

Carnage... my high school car was a 67... I had it for 8 years and did so much to it and my Ex got drunk and took out 3 parked cars... probably because I left her, it was the 80's and she did hate me so much for love... I miss that car, if you want to do some trading or sell it let me know.. I was working on getting a 69' fastback Cuda race bucket but I'd totally start that one instead... let me know

So, after buying a 67 cougar from an estate sale, it turns out I had brought a stolen car with a forged title and supporting documents. I managed to get my money back and purchase the car from the actual owner. The weeks of figuring out who actually owned the car with kinda help from the cops was fun. They really didn't have any trouble picking the car up though.
Anyway, title in my name! While unloading the car I decided my neighbors really needed to see the car. So I ran next door to where my non working brakes and the neutral roll to a stop (that worked the weeks before) failed this time. I had to choose between driving into the room they were in through their window (seemed non structural), hitting the boat hooked to his pickup, or trying to weave around some stuff and park on the porch.
Well, I chose the porch and corner post supporting the roof. The roof only sagged about 4" and i was able to jack it back up and install the post. The car looks like it ate a 6x6 bad enough to where the fan hub died and rad leaks low. The core support is bent and everything infront of that is rough.
So, mad max mobile it is. I have lifted the back of the car 7" still need to mess with the front when I swap in the new suspension and disc brakes.
The car had been parked since 73 and PO bought it as an estate garage find when he purched it 6 years prior. The engine was not fully installed after rebuild when the wife sold it during a divirce. The then purchaser came up with a bunch of forged stuff that never worked to get the car in his name.
I skipped through so many parts of this story but may make a video on all the drama later. I do have 2 videos with this car in it though.
