The cougar was very formidable to the Cuda and Chargers.

My first car was a '68 Ford Cougar, and as a 17-year-old, I REALLY had a lot of fun with that car. I am glad to see these cars are still around. I had a big block too, and couldn't understand why the car would not move from a standstill when I press the metal really hard - all I could see was a lot of tire smoke, and a lot of noise, so I learned to put in in 2nd gear to take off from a traffic stop.
This one is a very, very nice one, but there is one thing I would want to change if it was mine, and that is the front lifting when you accelerate hard - it doesn't appeal to me, and it looks as if the front end was not bolted down properly. I would want to tighten the front end to have a flat take-off stance - otherwise, it is a beautiful beast - congratulations!

There was only one Cougar on the road when I had my big block '65 El Camino in the '80's and '90's in Cypress, CA. This is what I wanted for my 68 Cougar I had in my 20-30s.
Mine was loud, cherry 🍒 bombs out the side. I was broke back then, couldn't afford this level even now😠

I'm sure he replaced the foot pump windshield washer fluid system. I thought it was a pretty cool feature. But that car is stunning. I'm glad to see you back my friend.

My 1st car was a 68 Cougar 390,automatic trans,2.73 rearend. 68 in low, 115 2nd, as soon I hit drive front end got light lifted off the gas, downshifted,my passenger said take me home Now. Nothing like the Torque of any FE big block. Wish I still had it. Awesome Build & Video.

Thanks for the video. Nice to see the Cougar FE. I inherited Dad's 68 project after he passed and I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Whatever it is, it won't be that intense though.. lol Either way, thanks for the inspiration.

Worked that area on my mail route for many years but never saw any of these cool cars. I did see a classic Mustang beefed up along with a 67 Chevy Chevelle that had a sweet sounding motor but that's about it. Love this car very unique 👌 build.

What a badass Cougar! I and my wife own a 68 428 Cobra Jet with ram air, GT package,C6 dressed in dark cherry! Wife's brother bought new in 68 and still have original window sticker! My first car is a 67 Camaro SS-350, 4 speed with 4.10 posi 12 bolt rear(had since 75-Red w/white conv top) Also bought a Grand National new in 88 and have had since new! the Cougars of that era were really unnoticed and under appreciated! I love the Cougars! The 428 CJet only has 53000 original miles and there were only 244 made(258 with 427s for total of 602- same as the 67 Z28s in 67!)

My brother in law bought a '68 Cougar new, with 428 cobra jet ram air, C6, posi rear 9 inch, power discs up front rears drum! The car only has 53,000 original miles! Had to re-core radiator last year! Dark cherry exterior same interior! Headliner looks new(Own a '87 Grand National too, and had to replace it twice, also own my 1st car-'67 Camaro SS350 4 speed muncie with 4.11 posi 12 bolt, needs no headliner since the top goes down!) Respect what you've accomplished with year 1 Cougar, especially the black out bumpers! Wish we could exchange ride for ride in each others car! The Cougar lines are so much sexier than the same year Mustangs, ant the pop up lights make the front way cool!

I have a 67 Cougar with 289 V8 with a Buddy Bar intake and 3 carbs, C4 tranny. I used to show it. Small block setup with a 6 pack isn't anything to write off. At 120mph it was still accelerating like a rocket! It is not drag car, but more for cruising, yet will haul ass!

So many cool cars on this channel but as far as a car that still looks like what it is this is the most beautifu and tasteful car I have seen . It's the best mix of old and new I have seen and not just an escercise in spending money . It is COOL . Not a car for followers or for somebody who is trying to be cool , you have to be cool or you would never even consider a car like this . For one year in the 60s Mercury made a masterpiece of styling .
