What's cool about this it almost seems like the Porcupine understood the woman and was literally responding to her questions, it's possible.
Yes, believe it or not, most animals do understand humans, better then we think they do.
I agree with MeMiri O: animals that I have been associated with (pets, barnyard) definitely understand our tone and body language, possibly better than we sometimes do, and of course domesticated pets learn the meaning of words as we use them -- sometimes better than we want them to. I have had a couple dogs who knew enough that I had to even use alternate spellings of some key words to keep them out of the conversation, words like "ride", "walk", "outside", etc. One even learned to pee on command, which was a GREAT convenience to me! :-)

OMG! I had no idea they were so talkative. This is awesome!
I gather from looking at his other videos that he's atypical because he was found abandoned at 2 days old and hand-reared - he's never met another porcupine so doesn't know how he's supposed to behave. He's used to hearing humans vocalising to each other so he joins in. According to various zoo websites, porcupines do vocalise, particularly during the breeding season, but I think Teddy Bear is far more vocal than most.
My parents call those “happy hungry noises”.
I come back to these Teddy videos whenever I need a total escape...gives me an idiot smile. So, so cute! You don't need the words to know much of what he is saying, just the way you can understand a lot of what pre-verbal babies are "saying" in the last few months before they say actual words.
Teddy doesn´t like sharing pumpkins either, apparently.
I thought Teddy knew what it was before he started eating because he sounded like it was one of his favourite foods. Then he keeps saying yum, yum, num etc until he thinks the person who gave it to him wants it back and he says, go away, this is mine now, go find your own. Very Politely...., and with gestures to indicate he means what he says, just in case his "porcupine" is not understood!!!

My Family thank God found a little black kitten near a church and cemetery where someone dumped her We took her in and she is so loveable and will talk to you well meowing and vocalizing she didn't deserve to be dumped....
Elisha Cooper most people show animals love. You mostly hear about the mental nuts that treat them badly. Do worry about those bad people . There is a hell for people like that. Just enjoy these videos

Teddy is amazing. I just learned that these critters are vocal about a month ago. Are we sure that they really are animals and not aliens from another culture. The dude can sure express itself. I find he and his kind special. Who knew?
How very interesting and entertaining. Having an african grey parrot with a vocabulary of 600 + words. It makes me wonder if Teddy is not really in a limited way doing his best to verbally communicate. Nature is more surprising than many people give it credit for or believe.
