Literally I’m in love! Saw a baby porcupine about this she at Busch gardens tampa last month - fell in love instantly and am now obsessed. Do not know how I’ve lived this long without knowing about how awesome porcupines are and how absolutely freakin adirable the young ones are!
Tampa..if you live there or visit, check out zootampa, they have a porcupine there that literally acts like a dog. It follows the employees, plays games with them and asks for petting all the time.
What a cutie! She is so cute when she eats too. Porcupines are such lovely animals. Have a look at Rico from Cincinnati Zoo I believe it is and its on You Tube. We get to watch him eat and walk about and he is sooo cute too!
Aww, sweet baby. I have so many porcupines where I live, my dog as a kid got stuck with them twice iirc and I only recently almost tripped over the biggest one I've ever seen who was sitting on my front walk eating fireweed. Glad to see this little one is being taken care of :)
Put some thick gloves on, get yourself some face protection and give it some love. Porcupines are such amazing animals. Looking at them gives you chills, hugging them gives you quills...lol.
I am an Oklahoman and never in my life have I heard of the idea of a porcupine SHOOTING its quills! But in all these porcupine videos, everyone is talking about it, LOL
Ive dealt with porcupines alot (north american) and i think i know where the myth comes from. I ponder if when they hang upside-down from branches and than shake it can seem like their quils are shooting at you but its just gravity, and old quils shedding. Does this sound like a plausable cause for said myth/ right information? Havent seen many go upside-down tho, and if so only while moving about. Im also not sure if im correct if they shed quils or just wait to jam it into something.
we used to have porcupine out here in the mountains of southern CA ... one particular area was really hard for them to get to. and now they are extinct
I just saw another video in which the porcupine was unfortunately eaten by a leopard, who didn't seem to get any quills in him. I guess it doesn't always work. :-(
