I love it when you talk about the puffers. It's great info that anyone who's getting a puffer fish would need to know. But it's also very interesting to rest of us as well. If I had the tank space there would definitely be a puffer fish tank. I like the figure 8's, but there's another small freshwater puffer that I fell in love with, but sadly can't remember it's name. 🤦
Thanks a bunch! 😊 I try to cover the basics. I think puffers are one of the most interesting fish there are but perhaps my oppinion is biased. 😆 What do these smaller puffers look like by chance?
I legit saved one from PetSmart the employee begged me, only cuz he really cares for the fish. He didn't have a open tank for it, it's ruff shape. The other puffers beat it and then add pet store stress. He or she is with me now in a 10 gallon hospital being treated for bacterial and fungal issues, and then to deworm the fella.
Thanks for the info! I just got two figure 8’s! “ sally” and “jack skelington” is what my nephews named them! I appreciate you! One question I do have is, how to transition them from fresh to brackish? Just do it or slowly do it. I know you said you did it slow but how did you get to from fresh to the initial 1.008 ?
Great Video! Love to have a Bro to keep the People educated on Puffers since they are getting popular and stores know less. You beat me to it. I of course have 12 of them I a 55 G. With 3 Different species of tank mates. #I concur. Fa(i)ntastic Video Brother.
I just joined your channel to learn about the figures 8 puffers. I got a pair of them. What would be the best age to start putting them in the bracket water, (?) I think that's what you called it? I was thinking about a year from now, but how do I make that transition...? Do I gradually add marine salt a little bit at a time for them to get used to it?
Hi there. A year should be fine. Best case scenerio, Keepers aim start the move around the point where they're close to their adult stage. As for the brackish water, there's a few different ways to do it. You can set up a seperate aquarium and then drip acclamate them to the new condiotion over a few hours, which is what I did with my figure eights and green spotted puffers. You can also mix brack water into your aquarium, but you never want to add salt directly to your tank as it can cause some parameter issues. I have a video showing how I set up one of my brackish tanks and get the salinity you want here. Hope this helps. :) th-cam.com/video/-sJQF8Jn01M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e4WeZZsHYjIgy7xK
I don't have any cherry shrimp in this tank, as they unfortunately would definitely get eaten eventually. You may be seeing some bloodworms that I recently fed to the puffers before this video though.
Would love a video on puffer tank mates. Don't your mollies breed? can't see any baby mollies. I have mollies and they give birth a lot, most of them get eaten by the bigger fish but they give birth a and a few survive. Like to think the strongest survives.
My mollies haven't bred yet. Granted Ive had them now for about 3 months to this point. but I have seen some courtship behavior at times. Im sure it's only a matter of time.
My friend put a figure 8 puffer in her community tank, and it killed four of her fish before she yoinked him out and gave him his own tank 😬 Combine species at your fishes’ risk…
Great information for my first puffer baby!

Thank you. I'm researching before I buy
Awesome! Glad I could help a bit. :)
Nice video . Good looking puffers. I would love to see introduction and feeding videos and any others you post
Absolutely! Some I'll have to make a feeding video soon. Any specific puffers or fish you'd like to see?
@@FintasticFreaks I think they would all be enjoyable it would be interesting to see the differences between you different species
I just put three in my tank. And they’re going to town eating all my other fish. Not what I was expecting

How often do you feed them snails?

Very interesting
Good info, you said you started the trio in a 29 but what size do you have them in now?
They now live inside a 54 gallon bowfront corner aquarium. Lots more space for them to explore now. 🐡🐡🐡
Great video 👍👍👍
Do you know much about amazon puffers?
He has Amazon puffers and he had a care video about them

These dudes really do need salt in their life's. Brackish water legit is water with salt content that isn classified as salt.
