    I've never had an issue feeding trumpet snails. In fact I actually recommend trumpet snails. You need less because the shells are a little thicker in the shell and they are 1, of if not, the absolute easier to breed. I've had lots of puffers and almost exclusively fed trumpets. They have never been a problem. God bless

    Amazon, Green spot and figure 8 all been fine in my community tank over the year's they stick together in a wee sholl there like a wee army all lined up swimming across the glass it's so cool! They love bloodworm and red trumpet snails they won't eat clams on a half shell really and that'd the first frozen food people go for because watched Cory's puffer and think "that'll be fine for them!

      I would not mix amazon puffers and spotted congo. Pick one or get 2 tanks. Puffers don't usually get a long with other puffers. Those 2 can be with other puffers of their own kind but would not risk mixing them.

    Are those Anubias and Java fern in brackish??
    Not yet at 1.008, though.. Is it???

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes these Java ferns and anubias are in 1.008 brackish water. They did well for a while, but the puffers started nibbling on them thus they went downhill. Prior to that, they were doing good. As long as the tank is on the lower end of brackish conditions, I've seen that Java ferns and some anubias plants can tolerate the parameters.

    What's the best brand substrate for the Congo spotted puffer

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caribsea has some good quality sand. I use that brand with my Fahaka and green spotted puffers.
      But with my Spotted Congos, and a lot of my tanks lately, I've just used play sand to be honest. It takes a lot of cleaning but it's cheap and don't look bad in my opinion.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      5 figure 8s Should do well in a 55. Only thing I'd say as a precaution is to make sure you give the puffers some caves and areas to get away from each other in case a couple get testy with the others. As long as that's done, I think a 55 would be a solid home for your figure 8s.

    I was planning on getting one puffer. Amazon puffer or spotted congo puffer if I can find one but you keep showing those cute little pea puffers I kind of thinking about getting another small tank and follow your advice on pea puffers as my first puffers. They are also probably the easiest puffers to get a hold of where I live. They are just so cute and tiny little puffers. I have one aquarium with some snails already. Can you keep snails in a bucket container thing or do they need a tank?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally put my snails in tanks, 10 gallons to be specific. I think it helps them reproduce more often. They wouldn't need anything too big either if you choose any of the 3 puffers there. but it depends on how big you want your snail supply to potentially get. 🐌🐡

      @@victoralbert1451 no I don't. Didn't claim too either. I just said I wouldn't recommend it as other people have who own puffers have said it multiple times. I wouldn't take the risk. Having a puffer in a community tank is already a risk. I am willing to take that risk but of course I will pay attention and have a backup plan if it doesn't work. • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Live fish is definitley ok. My only things is to just becareful of where you get them, and make sure they are from a reliable place as you definitly don't want your puffer eating sick fish.
      Those ambush puffer can be very picky eaters and sometimes will demand live food. Depending on how big your puffer is, If you have access to critters such as fidler crabs, or feeder crayfish that could be something else you could use to hel their teeth.
      Sometimes if you wiggle the food nearby the puffer with some tongs, to simulate that is is alive the puffer sometimes will accept frozen clams. As crazy as it sounds, it worked with my puffer. 😅

    You should read a couple of the older books out on puffers and how they pick their sex later on in their lives! It's amazing how they can do these it says when they are young they are no sex! It might not be for them all as you think the red eye is male and female I am going to check these books and see if it mentions the red eye as part of this or if they are sexed from young.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of channels have done it. It's not really meanr so much for "enjoyment" it's more to boost the video and help deliver a happier and perhaps inspiring feel and to fill in quiet spots so it's not just white noise.
      I think ot also helps drown out the buzzing of the air pums and filters without over powering my voice and the information I give. I have started doing it less in my more recent videos though.
